Convenient

Till she is holding a trophy, bringing pride to her family, fits in a convenient definition of a free woman she is the apple of each eye.  When she starts going out with her own will, dressing the way she wants, speaking what she actually thinks, she is pulled down and labelled different names. Her freedom is subjective. It is decided on the parameters of the society's convenience.

She is caged in the name of her safety. She is never trusted enough to know what is right for her. She is called too naive. She is tied to ropes that no one sees but they pull her back. She is made to carry heavy baggages that weigh her down yet she is defied and rarely respected. She is given the opportunities and rights that the world thinks she needs and not the ones she deserves.

She is no goddess. She wasn't born with eight arms. She doesn't carry weapons.  She doesn't have in born defense skills but she knows how to fight. She has no wish to be worshipped. She needs to be trusted and respected. She needs to be given the chance to take care of herself.

A speck of trust can help her expand the universe of her dreams.

She was never made to sit in a confined space. She was made to breathe as much as anyone else, sing as much as anyone else, roam as much as anyone else and live as much as anyone else.

She is around you, hardly complaining, always adjusting, trying to make the best out of the resources she has but this isn't what she deserves. She's a human, as much as anyone else and she needs to be given the right to rise above your convenience.

A/N - This is something I wrote for my college magazine which was purely intended to call out my college's sexist rules. I don't know if it will get published in the magazine or not but I found it Abstract Ink worthy at least.
