Chapter 30 ➺ Paisley

I couldn't have been more happy with the way my tattoo turned out. And despite the risk, I love the fact that Harry got the same one. It gives me so much reassurance that he feels just as powerfully about this experience as I do. I'm reassured that our journey together isn't one-sided.

"Thanks again, John. They're great." Harry says one last time, roughly shaking John's hand. I'm glad Harry was here with me to comfort me during the process. It made me feel much more comfortable, and like nothing bad could happen.

"Glad you like it. Make sure you come back."

"Will do." Harry said, grabbing my hand and leading us out the door.

The sky was dark as we walked out into the night. I hadn't realized how much time we had been in there, but at least three or four hours had passed and it was now getting somewhat late. The moon shined bright on us, lighting our way to the car.

"Thanks, Harry." I said.

"For what?" He asked, peering over at me with a sideways glance.

"For coming with me. For comforting me." Harry looked at me with a weird stare, like he wasn't sure why I was thanking him. "What?" I asked, confused by his response.

"I'm your boyfriend. Of course I would come to comfort you. You don't have to thank me." He said, eyes full of emotion, saying it like it was the most natural thing in the world. It always makes me fall harder for him when he says sweet things like this.

"Well, thank you anyway." I said, getting into the passenger side of the car as Harry got in the opposite. However, as soon as he got in, he didn't start the car, instead he just sat there. "What are you-" I began to ask, but he cut me off.

"Come over here." He beckoned, taking his arms and putting them on my sides, hoisting me into his lap. I looked at him with a confused glance and he wraps his arms around me and tugs me closer in response, nudging my chin up with his hand. "I want to kiss you."

Before I could even comprehend what he said, his hot, soft lips were on mine. Our foreheads were pushed together and his hands had gone to the back of my neck to pull me impossibly closer. The temperature in the car seemed to get hotter and hotter as the moments passed, the two of us never separating the whole time.

His whole body sent electric shocks through me. Harry and I had kissed before, but never like this. Never this deep, or this heavy. His touch was addicting, as his lips never quit their assault on mine. Our breathing was heavy and Harry swiped his tongue along my bottom lip and I opened my mouth in obligation.

I was lost in the moment, being so close to Harry, trying to express in my actions all that I felt for him. The past year has been crazy, too many ups and downs to keep track of. But what I have with Harry has made all of it worth it. And I can't say I'm in love with Harry, but I have a feeling this is what love feels like. And I don't want it to stop.

I moved my hands up to Harry's hair, gently tugging at his roots as his tongue worked alongside mine. He groaned in approval and then broke our heated exchange. I was met with his gaze, his eyes a shade darker than normal, a strange look in his eye. "Paisley, you're my best friend." He said, emotion clear in his voice. He paused for a moment, rubbing his heated palms up and down your arms. "And I think I'm falling for you."

My eyes widened in surprise and relief, glad he was feeling the same way I was. "Me too." I said, leaning back down, a smile on my lips.

"That's a fucking relief." Harry smirked, crashing his lips on yours again. You let out a small giggle into the kiss, then brought your arms back to his hair, ready to be breathless by him once again.

My phone buzzed in my back pocket. I pulled it out and saw Harry's name.

"Hello?" I asked.

"I'm taking you out tonight, babe." Harry said, his voice oozing confidence. I could just see the smirk painted on his lips right now.

"Oh are you, now?" I giggled.

"Yep, we're going to my uncle's place, if that's okay with you." He said.

"Sure, I don't have any plans."

"And if you did you would cancel them to be with me." Harry teased cheekily.

"In your dreams, Styles." I said, but I knew he was right.

"Keep telling yourself that."

"Whatever. What time? Hattie's home for the weekend and I'm spending the day with her."

"7?"

"Sure."

"Alright. See you then, pretty girl." He hung up, leaving a blush on my cheek.

I spent the rest of the day shopping with Hattie, catching her up on what she had missed. Everything from Harry and I's first date to the tattoos and more. I loved having my best friend back. We walked around the mall for hours, and she helped me to pick out something hot to wear on my date with Harry tonight. I settled on a black flowy skirt and a printed tank top that complimented it nicely.

"So, do you think you guys are going to be together for awhile?" Hattie asked, sipping on her smoothie as she sat across from me at the table in the food court.

"I'm not sure." I pondered, rubbing my head as I thought about it. "I mean, there's definitely a deep connection between us. I can't really describe it. I just feel like I've known him forever--I'm so comfortable with him. And everything he does just makes me feel giddy inside. I love it." I explained.

Hattie looked back at me curiously. The look on her face was one I had seen before, but never aimed at me.

"What?" I questioned.

"You can see it on your face, Pay." She giggled.

"I really like him." I sighed.

"Obviously."

I paused for a moment. "So, I guess to answer your question, I hope we'll be together for a while. Because I really can't imagine leaving all of this behind us when we've come this far." I admitted. I didn't want to imagine it, and hopefully it would never happen.

I waited anxiously by the door, waiting to see Harry's car pull in the drive way. I was wearing my new outfit and very much looking forward to whatever Harry had planned for us tonight. My heart sped up when I saw his ruggedly handsome silhouette through the car window. I stepped out the door and walked towards him, going straight into his arms and burying my face in his neck.

"I was going to come up to the door and get you." Harry pouted, pressing a kiss to my forehead.

"I couldn't wait to hug you." I smiled, hugging him tight again.

"Hey, I'll take it." He smirked. We stood in each other's arms for a minute, enjoying a quiet moment.

"Well, shall we go?" I asked, pulling away.

"Yeah. Hop in, babe." He said.

Harry started driving and refused to tell me where we were going, despite me telling him the whole "surprise date thing" was overused and cliche. He argued it was classic and romantic, so I let him have it. The car ride was full of playful exchanges, with Ed Sheeran playing in the background and Harry's hand tightly entwined with mine, sitting on my lap.

Shortly, we arrived at a park, up in the mountains. Harry got out and grabbed a basket from the back, and immediately I swooned at his attempt to be romantic. Harry had never had a girlfriend before, he'd never cared enough to do nice things for girls, so his effort in this was completely endearing and only made me love him even more than I already did.

"Fancy a picnic?" He asked, wiggling his eyebrows and smiling.

"I'd love one." I said, walking towards him and grabbing his hand as we walked to find the perfect place to set ourselves up.

We followed a trail through the park and after a slight upward hike, we reached one of the most beautiful spots in the park. It was in a clearing on the mountain, with a beautiful view of the rockies out in the distance. The sun peaked through the breaks in the trees above us, giving us spots of broken sunshine.

"Is this good?" Harry asked.

"It's perfect. Let's set it up!"

"Oh, I've got it, Paisley. Just go enjoy the view." My heart fluttered at the fact that he wanted to set it up all by himself.

"Alright." I said, letting him do his thing. I went to the edge of the clearing, looking out into the distance. How lucky had I become. I'd never imagined Harry and I would ever come to this point. I never imagined someone who hurt me so bad could ever be the one to make me feel this happy as well.

I must have gotten lost in my thoughts as I looked out at the mountains, because a moment later, I felt a touch on my waist. Harry pulled me into him. He was very touchy tonight, and I liked it. Every time he touched me my heart raced.

"It's ready." He whispered into my ear, his mouth close to my ear.

"Oh, okay." I said, turning around so as to not get more flustered by his touch. He chuckled, knowing what he was doing to me, and followed by me.

The closer we got to our spot, the more my smile grew. Harry had put a lot of work into this. There was a nice blanket laying on the floor, with an elaborate plate of food set on top of it. There was a bottle of sparkling grape juice and two champagne glasses beside it and candles set all around the whole blanket.

My jaw dropped as I admired what Harry had set up. This was by far the most elaborate thing any one had ever done for me.

"Do you like it?" Harry asked, an anxious expression on his face. He was actually adorable.

"Are you kidding me? Yes, Harry. I love it. Thank you so much." I said, leaning over and kissing his cheek.

"Good." He said, pulling me down to sit against his chest on the blanket. We spent the next few hours going back between eating and talking and laughing and kissing each other. It was nice to just cuddle and be together and enjoy each other's presence in a setting that was only the two of us.

It was getting later and my head was rested on Harry's chest as we stared up at the sky.

"Paisley, I have to tell you something." Harry said.

"Yeah?" I asked, wondering what he could possible have to tell me.

"Well, I know I've fucked up in the past. And I know I'm by far not the best boyfriend. I know I'm going to mess up in the future, too. But thank you for giving me a chance. Thank you for always forgiving me and thank you for helping me to become a better person. I promise you, I'll try every day to be the man you need me to be."

Harry's words shocked me, sending my heart throbbing in emotion.

"Harry." Was all I said, as I brought my lips passionately to his. He was perfect. Broken, at times, but altogether perfect. He broke our exchange, his lips starting to move once again. He sat up and his beautiful green eyes met mine.

"There's one more thing I need to ask you." He said slowly.

"Yes?" I questioned.

"Paisley, will you go to prom with me?"
