Part IV ⭐️ 66: Lady and Lynn ⭐️
Later that night Lady stopped by Lynn's house and checked on her.
"You look high, baby," said Lady, kissing Lynn's lips.
"I am, trust me. Good to see you again. It still feels like a dream. Where's my son in law?"
"Right here," said Harry, closing the front door. "I bought you something."
"Oh, Yea?" Lynn said, her face glowing.
"Jonathan always said that you love curry chicken and dumplings."
"No you didn't, Harry! Thank you!"
Harry handed her a styrofoam tray and an iced tea.
Lady helped Lynn set it on the end table.
Lynn tasted the food.
"This is good." Lynn spooned some in Lady's mouth.
"Damn, son I should have taken you up on that food offer."
"I told you, Mama that you should've let me treat you. But you had to watch your figure, you said."
"I'll share with you, baby," said Lynn, kissing Lady's lips.
"Get a room," said Harry, relieved that it took a love she thought she lost forever to find her again so that she could be herself.
"My room is her room. That's what we wanted to tell you," Lynn said, taking Lady's hand. "She's moving in. We'll never be separated again."
"I think that's awesome. Congrats. So does this mean that you two are an item?"
Lady kissed Lynn on the lips.
"Baby steps, son. We're taking things one day at a time, even though she slandered my name on the news."
"Baby, I apologized. I'll make it right."
"I know you will. It's water under the bridge. Speaking of which, Harry has a new crush."
Lynn gazed at him, trying to keep the daggers from showing in her eyes.
"So soon, son," said Lynn.
"I like him, yes. But I don't know...maybe I feel indebted to him because he saved me life, and thinks highly of Jonathan."
"What's his name?"
"Marcus Johnson."
Lynn slowly stopped smiling, avoiding his eyes.
"What is it, Lynn?" Harry asked, confused about her reaction
"Are you sure you're not just using Marcus as the rebound guy the same way Jonathan was yours?"
"It's really none of your business. You never accepted our marriage."
"Because you both hid it from me. You told me three days later, after the fact. Hell, I didn't even get a freaking invitation."
"Baby, calm down," said Lady, trying not to take sides and it pissed Harry off. He was more hurt than angry.
"Nah, Mama. Let her talk. That's the Lynn I was waiting on. I don't know who that Mr. Rogers version of her came from. You're so damn phony."
"Son," said Lady, giving him the cold stare.
"You were fooling around in the shadows with Bob Grimes. That didn't work out you sunk your claws into my son. You strung him along until you decided you were ready to fall in love with him, but your ex fling, a man I was about to hook up with, killed my son with drunken rage and walked away without a scratch. You and Bob get into a verbal spat during his hearing that becomes social media legend, but the charges against him for taking your husband's life were dropped after a video surfaced of two cops assaulting him. Don't you remember, me, you, my dead son and Judge Harper Hills being defamed and torn apart because of your interference."
"You have your nerve. He was my husband."
"That you didn't love. Not only did you rob me of watching him take vows, but you buried my only son without my say so. I carried him for nine months."
"Jonathan is a product of adultery that Norma paid you for, so don't act brand new because you used hot water and a flat iron to straighten out that wig on your head."
"Now Harry cut it out," said Lady.
"She's been back in your life for a brief moment and you're defending her? I went years without you, and you popped up in my life and made me get baptized. So, is it safe to say that your rug munching associate means more to you than I do?"
"It's not like that, baby."
"Oh, it's baby now. A few seconds ago, you called me by my government name."
"I just don't think you and Marcus realize that my son is turning in his grave at the speed it took for you two to hook up. Did you even mourn him?"
"I miss him every day. You don't know how it hurts to..."
"If this was the Oscar's, you'd be snubbed. Save the tears."
Lynn wheeled herself to the dining table.
"Baby, please. We were getting along so well."
