⭐️ 78. Lowered (Charles) ⭐️
Charles stood up. He approached Miss Honey with a sexy grin. "How did you become a key witness to this trial?"
The question threw the Prosecution through a loop.
"I was approached by a few visitors in lockup that promised to get me out of prison if I did what they said."
Alana was sweating bullets.
"What did they say?"
"The woman said that if I lied and cooperated with her, she would reverse my life sentence into one that sets me free."
Judge Hills was on high alert.
"Who was the woman that promised you freedom in exchange for lies told under oath in a prestigious, historic court of law being seen in hundreds of countries worldwide?"
"Objection!" shouted the prosecution.
"Overruled," said Judge Hills. "Who was the mysterious visitor?"
Miss Dime Honey pointed at her. "Alana McCrary."
"I did no such thing!"
"But she is your key witness, Alana," said Charles. "You're Honor, I ask that Miss Honey's testimony is deemed unreliable and not credible."
"Sustained."
Alana lowered her head.
"Thank you for telling the truth."
"I was told to lie under oath. They even suggested I come to court in feminine attire. This God awful wig is from Alana's personal collection."
Judge Hills gazed at Alana. "You have some explaining to do."
Miss Honey was dismissed from the stand, radiant in prison orange transport coveralls.
"Judge Hills I call Dr. Lennon to the stand."
A seventy year old Arabian clad in a medical coat and scrubs took the stand.
"Raise your right hand."
He raised it.
"Do you promise to tell the truth so help you God."
"Yes."
"State your name."
"George Lennon."
"State your profession."
"I'm a doctor."
"What do you specialize in."
"I work in pharmaceuticals."
"Tell us about a drug called Brienhrt."
"Brienhrt is an experimental drug used to treat mental illness and bipolar disorder."
"Your Honor what does this have to do with this murder trial?" Asked the Prosecution.
"I want to hear this," said Judge Hills.
"Continue, Dr. Lennon."
"The drug was a pharmaceutical dream. A great success, but the medicine had devastating side effects that was covered up by the CDC."
"Do you have documentation and proof of these allegations, Dr. Lennon because if you don't I'm holding you and Charles in contempt."
Dr. Lennon handed the judge a manilla envelope and one to the Prosecution.
"I contest that Dime, Lou, Harry, Bambi, Lynn, and a few others had their meds illegally switched from Allavan to Brienhrt without their knowledge. The drug caused adverse side effects in Dime that lead to him killing Lou. The drug led to Bambi killing three people without a sense of right and wrong. In fact, the drug has been recently recalled and banned from public consumption because a whistle blower exposed the Brienhrt brand."
Charles looked at Marcus. "Please stand."
Marcus, wiping tears from his eyes, stood up.
Defeated.
Hopeless.
Harry looked on in anticipation.
"Marcus was prescribed 400 milligrams of Brienhrt, when he thought he was taking Allavan. Bambi was approached by his superiors to switch his meds to Brienhrt with a 900 milligram boost. He was a secret lab rat for Brienhrt LLC. Marcus was high on Brienhrt when he beat his father, when he slept with his cousin, when he abused Miss Honey, when he allegedly killed Bob. Bob Grimes was on Brienhrt. And Bob did not die. He lived."
