Chapter 40
Ocean
After Aria and I went back to the guys, I saw that some things had changed. Louis was no longer as relaxed and talkative as before. His face became a shade darker and more contorted.
He and Aria exchanged a few sentences with each other, not getting too involved in the conversation. I saw that Kaden did not notice that, but now some things became clearer to me.
Occasionally Louis would glance at her, and when she noticed, he would shyly look away. I think Kaden is too strict about these relationships between his sister and people close to him. I wish I could talk to him about it. Although, it would be very transparent, he would understand everything in the blink of an eye.
Here I am thinking how to shorten the torment of carrying a secret as a burden to another, and I myself am overloaded with the burden of my secrets that I hide from him.
The feeling of a being guilty once again crept deep into my bones. At that moment, I hugged him around the waist and rested my head on his chest, which rose and fell rhythmically.
Kaden stroked my hair and kissed me. At that moment Louis stood up, stretching his sore body.
"Well guys, I think it's time for me to go and leave you lovebirds alone."
My cheeks suddenly started to burn. I'm still not used to someone mentioning me and Kaden in their address in a loving sense, let alone the other one. . .
We both got up, and Louis wrapped me in a bear hug.
"I'm glad we met Ocean, I hope there will be more opportunities to hang out like this."
And then he came closer to me and whispered in my ear, but in that way that the others could hear him as well.
"But I hope next time with a little more buzz and chicks."
And he winked at me as Kaden patted him on the shoulder.
"You old bastard."
As they laughed at their internal jokes, I glanced at Aria. She nervously crossed her arms over her chest and looked away. Probably so we wouldn't see her bitter look. The look that would tell all of us that she cared. For him. For Louis.
"It's time for me to go too, I'll call my driver."
Aria opened her purse and dug through it to find the phone.
'' There's no need to call anyone Aria, Louis is leaving too. He can drive you. Isn't that a problem, bro? "
Kaden turned to Louis, who opened and closed his mouth, like a fish on dry land fighting for air. Aria rolled her eyes and opened her mouth to say something, but it was more like chatter than real speech.
'' There's no need, I wouldn't want to burden him. He certainly has work to do. "
At the same time, Louis spoke.
''It's not. . . not a problem. . . I can drive her. "
Then they looked at each other and exchanged strange looks. Kaden was a little confused but continued on his own.
'' No discussion Aria, you're going with Luis. You know I feel safer when you're surrounded by my people. "
'' I really wouldn't know Kaden. I almost don't notice those bodyguard gorillas you gave me. Note the sarcasm. For God's sake, you are a famous billionaire and not some mafia boss. "
Kaden replaced his playful face with a more serious one and looked at Louis significantly. He cleared his throat and laughed, a little forced if you ask me.
"Aria, you never know what danger is lurking around the corner. Big bank accounts come with certain risks. And I'm not willing to take risks. "
Aria just rolled her eyes and came up to me wrapping me in a strong hug.
'' Sorry Ocean for my previous behavior. I'll make it up to you with a coffee or some good shopping. And now I'm sorry, I have to go and try not to have a heart attack. "
She said taking a deep breath and putting a smile on her face.
''Let's go.''
Louis said, and strands of her blonde hair swirled in the air as they left the house together.
"We are finally alone."
Kaden suddenly hugged me from behind, so that the warmth of his body spread through my back. The tip of his nose wandered over my hair, absorbing my scent until his gentle lips touched the already sensitive skin of my neck.
His toxic smell had already made my knees kneel, barely keeping me on my feet. Oh God, how can anyone smell so wonderful ?!
I turned to him and wrapped my arms around his face. His eyes were drilling holes deep in mine. His eyes, his look. Timeless, out of this world.
I ran my fingers through his hair, enjoying the silky feel under my fingers. He was perfect. And he was mine.
I would be his too. . . that my life is not in the hands of mobsters who can crush it in a second.
I kissed him passionately almost to the point of aggression. I wanted to mark him, for him to mark me. To be just his. And his only.
He lifted me up, and I wrapped my legs around his waist. He grabbed my thighs, digging his fingers deep into them, showing me how much he wanted me.
He took us to his room and threw me on the bed. He slowly unbuttoned his sweatshirt and then took off his shirt.
I don't think I'll ever get tired of looking at his abs and the way his body flexes.
He positioned himself over me and leaned on his elbows. He looked at me with a look full of love. He looked me straight in the eyes. His lips smiled magically and so innocently, as he stroked my face with his fingers.
'' I love you Ocean. Your depth helped me discover my depths. And to get rid of the fear of the darkness lurking in there. "
"I love you, Kaden."
And I caressed his face, as the lump in my throat stood and grew bigger. I think the time has come when our feelings should be greater than our secrets.
'' Kaden. . . I'd like to talk to you. "
He lowered his head and began kissing my cleavage, his fingers slowly removing the thin material.
"Kaden, I am serious."
I told him through laughter and pushed him so that he fell on his back next to me.
With a quick movement I sat on him and soon we found ourselves in opposite roles. Probably the speed with which I got up and changed position made my head spin so much that I cupped my face with my hands.
"What happened Ocean?"
"Nothing, I just felt a little dizzy."
"Come on, let's get some sleep. You work too hard, you don't eat well and I'm not at all surprised that you feel bad. "
We curled up next to each other, wrapped in a hug.
'' Ocean, I'm telling you seriously this time. I want you to quit your job. Even though he's my business partner, I don't like Jaxon. He is simply not the type of person you would like to work for. Promise me you won't go to work from Monday. "
'' Kaden. . . ''
The feeling of weakness and dizziness returned once again, but this time with even stronger strength. I didn't have the strength to handle this situation now let alone admit to him that Jaxon was my brother.
"I told you I wouldn't quit until you gave me a valid explanation for why I should do it. But if it's easier for you, I'll take the next week off, because I really suddenly feel very sick. I think I'm going to catch a cold or something. "
Kaden snorted loudly and I felt his whole body become more tense.
"Remember what you promised me, you won't be coming to work all next week. Don't break your promise by accident. "
'' I promise Kaden. And now let's rest. Please. I do not feel well.''
Kaden hugged me and soon after his warmth swayed me into the land of dreams.
Some muffled voices woke me up during the night. I took a deep breath before opening my eyes. but I regretted it as soon as I opened them. The headache was piercing.
I looked around and Kaden was not next to me. Probably that muffled voice was his. I got out of bed, headed for the door and went out into the hallway.
I started walking down the hall, that muffled voice growing clearer. When I reached the door at the end of the hall, I leaned my head against them and heard Kaden talking on the phone.
I don't know why I was eavesdropping, because I've never been a sniffer.
His next words struck me like lightning. All my senses were on overdrive. So was I.
"Ian, don't fuck with me. You'll do as I tell you, or. . . ''
