She laid naked on my chest as her hair fell over me. She was breathing deeply and calmly, which meant she was already fast asleep.

I looked at her and caressed her back with my fingers, because I couldn't sleep. The past haunted me. Although I tried to make her closeness and touch to put me to sleep, I just couldn't.

Guided by the fact that my father was suffocated in his sleep, I was traumatized by that act which only made me sleep very little. The fact that another person was sleeping next to me additionally aroused in me anxiety and fear caused by trauma. Even if that person is the one I fall in love with.

It was the middle of the night and the fire was quietly smoldering. I slowly slipped out of Ocean's embrace and took her in my arms to carry her to bed. Her lips twitched as if about to wake up, but her body was limp and she continued to dream.

I lowered her fragile body slowly on the mattress and covered her with a blanket. I sat on the edge of the bed, watching her silky skin streaked with strands of her long hair, which spilled over her upper body.

Closing my eyes tightly, I took a deep breath. I wanted so much to lie down next to her and experience what I told her. To let her warm me with her divine body at night and wake me up with sleepy kisses in the morning.

Outside, I fought against much more dangerous and deadly people, but here in my bed within these walls, I was afraid to lie down next to an innocent and fragile creature. Only to sleep.

I started to get up slowly, while the sheets under me rustled. Suddenly Ocean reached out her hand, placing her palm on mine. Her long fingers intertwined with mine and she squeezed me tight.

Her dreamy eyes were half open, captivating me with their greenery. The room was dark, and a teeny rays of fire illuminated only a few silhouettes.

''Stay.''

She said gently, wanting to pull me into her dream land. I was silent. But screaming with all my being. One word made me face my deep fear. Such a small word and such a great trauma behind it.

Unconsciously, I began to rise, but her grip tightened.

''Please. Stay.''

Her eyes were now completely open and looking at me innocently and pleadingly. I swallowed a lump in my throat and let out a breath I wasn't even aware I was holding inside.

I settled down lightly beside her, wrapping my arms around her from behind. I wrapped my arms, over her belly and she laid her palms on mine.

My stiff body slowly began to relax as I inhaled the gorgeous scent of her hair. I can't and don't want to fall asleep but I'll be here. Next to her.

The morning painted the walls of the room and bathed the bed in its light beams. I yawned, letting my eyes get used to the light. And the fact that for the first time I managed to spend the night with a woman. With Ocean.

I rolled my eyes, becoming aware of the fact that I had just succeeded to really get some sleep. Sleep. Especially next to the Ocean.

I kissed her bare shoulder, smiling. She wasn't even aware of how much liberation I was just feeling. She was my therapy and my psychotherapist in one.

She turned, smiling at me and caressing my face with her gentle hands. I approached her and touched her with the tip of my nose.

''Good morning beauty.''

''Good morning. . . fuck! ''

Suddenly she opened her eyes wide, jumping out of bed and covering herself with the sheets.

"Where's my purse? What time is it?''

She frantically scattered things that were on the floor with her hands, looking for the phone.

"Seven."

'' Fuck, fuck, fuck! I'll be late for work.''

She took things off the floor and put them on, jumping from one leg to the other.

"I think we finished that story yesterday."

I told her, while I straightened my body in a sitting position, putting my hands behind my head and checking her out.

'' You have finished stating your demands. I have nothing to do with it. I will continue doing my job, until you tell me clearly why I should not work for him. "

She was so damn stubborn . I wanted to spill everything out, but if I told her, I would reveal myself. That would drive her away from me, maybe forever, because she might misunderstand some things. It still wasn't the right time for that. Not now.

She was unaware that she was in a wolf den. Above all, that asshole lay his eyes on my sister. As if it wasn't enough that he wanted my sister, but also Ocean had to work for him. As if I was cursed.

I'm going to have to take a risk and leave her there for a few more days, until I figure out the best way to get her out of that company, without anyone bringing her in a relation with me.

I couldn't let anyone see her with me, so going out with her in public for now was a big no. I knew that she would interpret that as hiding her like she didn't matter to me. But that is a sacrifice I have to accept for now.

And I wanted so fucking much to show everyone that she was just mine.

'' Let it be your way for now, but this story is not over. You will leave Jaxon one way or another. "

She paused and turned to me, glaring at me.

''I'm leaving now.''

'' I think you forgot something. Kiss?''

I pursed my lips, provoking her on purpose. She took my shirt by the floor and hit me, covering my face.

"You fool."

She laughed and ran out of the room. I picked up the phone and called Jacob, my driver and bodyguard.

'' Jacob, take Ocean home. Wait for her to get ready and take her to work. And.. . keep an eye on her, as you have done so far. "

I finished the call and went to the bathroom. I stood in the doorway and turned to look at the bed, where last night after a long time I could get some decent sleep. I smiled and sailed under the shower as a rush of cold water washed the Ocean's scent from me.

I went down to my office, settled into my leather chair, and turned to face the large window overlooking the garden. I took the phone out of my pocket and dialed Louis's number.

Louis was the second in command in my organization and my best friend. Although it would be fair to say that I owe him credits for me being here. Because he is the one who introduced me to this world. The world of the mafia.

He was always sociable and mingled in various circles. When my father was killed, it was Louis who gave me the information about who killed him and why.

At my request, he introduced me to the "right" people. His help was crucial but I continued to make my way trough with my money and my last name. Not to mention my dark ways to get things done.

And my ultimate goal is to end up with a person involved in my father's murder. And when I overthrow currently strongest mobster, I will put myself at the top of the chain. Shark among small fish.

Although my father was killed because he did not want to hand over his empire to mafia affairs, in order to avenge him, I just had to do the very thing he died fighting against for.

Sorry father, but all this is for you.

'' Lou my man, I hear you landed last night. I hope you are bringing me good news. "

"You didn't doubt in me, did you? Everything is under control, all preparations will be ready in a week at the most. "

I finished the conversation and rested palm of my hand on my face.

How can I safely move away Jaxon from Aria and Ocean without the two of them finding out me being a mobster, until my secret operation is over?
