Chapter 21

Ocean

We found ourselves in front of a crowded entrance. A bunch of people waited in line, talking and smoking cigarettes.

"There's no way we're going in, look at the queue."

I said pessimistic and sad, because I really hoped to taste the fun that nightlife offers. But for me, nothing seems to go so easily.

"Don't worry, ladies, I have some aces up my sleeve."

Nathan winked at us and he went toward the entrance. Amber and I looked at each other in astonishment and followed him. He approached a security man and said something in his ear. The man just listened to him and then nodded.

"Ladies this way."

He motioned for us to come and we sailed into the world of loud music, smoke and madness.

Fluorescent bright light dyed us in the colors of the rainbow as we barely made our way to our booth. Sweaty, half-naked bodies clung to us, almost separating Nathan, Amber and me.

The music was really loud, but I liked the playlist.

We sat down at one table, while I looked around as if I was in Disneyland for the first time.

"Ocean, you seem totally lost, like you're going out to a club for the first time."

Amber leaned against me, laughing hilariously. I looked at her like a lost puppy and curled my face, frowning.

'' Oh shit. You're crazy. Is this really your first time going to the club? "

I nodded as she turned to the waiter who came to our table.

"Well, then we have to make it unforgettable. Waiter, bring us two piña coladas and one vodka for him. "

Not long after, the waiter brought us our drinks. We relaxed, enjoyed the music and talked as much as the noise allowed us.

The sweet taste of pineapple and whipped cream was so appealing that I didn't even notice when I got to the bottom and I had nothing more to drink. I feel like I'm going to regret this tomorrow..

The club became too crowded.

'' Guys, I'm going to the bar to take a new round. Do you want the same? "

I pointed at the empty glasses. Nathan winked at me and Amber showed me her thumb in OK. As I turned, I noticed Nathan slowly approaching Amber and listening to her incessant chatter with a wide smile.

I barely made my way through the crowd when I came to the bar, leaning on it. No bartender was nearby and I turned my head in both directions, looking for one.

"Are you looking for someone?"

A hoarse male voice whispered in my ear. I turned and saw Jaxon. My boss. More attractive. He looked younger and relaxed than in the office, and when I think about it, he is about the same age as Kaden.

"Mr. Jaxon, I didn't expect to see you here. I'm looking for a bartender, but obviously everyone is busy. "

He smiled at me and raised his hand in the air. A young boy immediately appeared in front of us.

"Sir, how can I help you?"

He turned to Jaxon, and I wrinkled my face in amazement at how he could have formed in front of us so quickly. Where was he when I was looking for him?

"Two Piña coladas and vodka."

I whispered to him, after he raised an eyebrow to ask what I wanted.

"The girl wants two Piña coladas and vodka. And whiskey for me."

He looked back at me, still smiling. But somehow different.

"You look wonderful tonight Ocean."

He came a little closer to me, placing his hand on the bottom of my bare back, almost without touching my skin. But still, his move made me shudder and shiver. I was somehow uncomfortable.

''Thank you sir.''

'' Ocean, we're not at work. Feel free to call me by name. "

I forced a smile a little. It was so uncomfortable for me, although I didn't need to feel that way. I suppose.

The bartender brought us drinks and Jaxon took his glass.

"I'm glad that I saw you."

"Same Mr. . . Jaxon."

He turned and, slipping through the crowd, disappeared into the sea of playful people.

I let out a breath that stuck in my throat and quickly picked up the glasses from the bar.

''What do I owe you?''

The young bartender looked up in my direction.

"Nothing, everything is settled."

I smiled politely at him and headed for the table.

"Hey, it took you a long time!"

Amber jumped when she saw me.

"It is crowded, you can see for yourself."

''I want to make a toast to us! Cheers! ''

Amber said playfully. I brought the straw to my lips and took a big sip. I caught Nathan's gaze, who looked at me confused and observant, and then smiled.

"Cheers!"

He said.

I picked up the phone to see what time it was and saw a message from Kaden.

Are you having a good time?

I frowned because it wasn't clear to me how he knew I came out.

Yes.

I answered him as my heart pounded like crazy.

Be a good girl, don't do something stupid.

Or?

Or I'll have to punish you.

Typing. . .

Although I believe you would love that.

I felt my cheeks burning and I pushed the phone into my purse and closed it. I took Amber's hand and pulled her away.

''Let's dance!''

As I abruptly pulled her by the arm, she almost fell over Nathan. She caught him too and the three of us made our way to the dance floor.

The music was good and its rhythm seduced our half-drunk bodies. We swayed to the latest tones of RnB songs, singing words and laughing like crazy. Carefree. Happy.

The rhythm slowed down a bit and Pop Smoke- Mood swings started ringing on the walls.

The crowd was on fire, and people around me danced sensually and seductively. Out of the corner of my eye, I noticed Nathan, who was behind Amber, putting his hands on her waist, swaying their hips together. Definitely their body language says more than they would like.

I laughed and continued to sway in the rhythm of the song. I looked up and through the crack that formed between the boiling bodies I saw him. Again. Jaxon.

All dressed in black, comfortably reclining in his booth, drinking whiskey. And he was looking straight at me. I swallowed a lump in my throat. He kept looking at me, throwing his head back a little. He winked and continued talking to the people at his table. Gentlemen in black, just like him.

I returned at the table, and after a few minutes I was joined by both Amber and Nathan. I opened my purse and picked up the phone. A message flashed before my eyes.

Go home straightaway.

I'm not kidding this time.

I was staring at the glowing screen, when Amber's hand on my shoulder shook me.

''Is everything alright?''

I pushed the phone back into my purse and turned to face her.

''I have to go. Sorry.''

She looked at me sadly and pursed her lips in a thin line while hugging me.

"Okay."

"You guys have a good time."

I took my jacket and after saying goodbye to them, I headed for the exit. The crowd was getting bigger. I reached the exit door and as I passed a group of people entering, I turned my head slightly to the side.

I saw him. He saw me too. He laughed wickedly and disappeared.

I quickly got out of the club and got into the first taxi I found.

As the taxi meandered through the maze of city streets that led to my apartment, I gripped my purse even tighter as my body trembled with fear.

Why did I have to run into Ian at the end?
