me vs. character traits: edmund pevensie + sheldon cooper
So it has occurred to me that I haven't updated this journal thing in ages and I figured, well, better late than never.
One thing I struggle with in life is getting a good balance between spending time indoors and spending time with nature. Personally, I love nature-y stuff. I love animals and plants and all that jazz. The thing is, I just have too many reasons to stay indoors.
I have to agree with Sheldon Cooper when he says, "If outside is so good, why has mankind spent thousands of years trying to perfect inside?" I mean, we all want to be comfortable. I hate being outside in weather that changes every five minutes. When you live in the Satan's Armpit area of the U.S., the weather becomes bipolar, trust.
I mean, unless you have a tablet/phone/portable-device-thingy (which most people do nowadays) you can't watch Netflix outside. And Netflix is important. And how am I supposed to drag that refrigerator I'm constantly nosing through around? Also, I am not a fan of mosquitos, or any other biting bug for that matter. And sure, it's nice to get fresh air every once in a while, but "it's not like there isn't air inside," as Edmund Pevensie put it.
I think that the human race has gotten to where, as a whole, we care a lot more about efficiency and staying comfortable then we do about experiencing the world around us. And as horrible as that might sound, that's not a bad thing. Yes, I think everyone should spend at least ten minutes a day with nature. (I don't always, but I try, okay?) But I also believe that looking at it from your window in a big, comfy chair with the air conditioning on full blast is just as good sometimes.
This chapter did not in any way come out how I had planned it in my head, but I'm way to lazy to go back and rewrite the whole dang thing. Whoops.
I would love to hear your opinons and such, so don't be ghost readers people! Comment! Vote! Ask me completely random questions or tell me this chapter was a waste of time that neither of us will ever get back.
