It had been generations since it happened. The final world war. And after it all nations agreed on peace, and it had worked.

Though sadly half of the worlds occupants at the time had not been able to see the peace. The nukes of US and Japans design had wiped out parts of Sweden and Germany. Though the real impact was the loss of nearly all of Australia and Africa. 

After the loss of two continents there was a dark period, no children where born, not a soul died, and all forms of communication where down. This dark period lasted for almost a year. What happened after changing history.

That was when the remaining nations decided to make peace. However, this wasn't before the world saw the side effects of nuclear warfare. 

The first one of these... Side effects was considered an anomaly. They thought the carrier had a previously unknown extreme of Colour Blindness. That wasn't completely wrong either.

Then came another, days later, with the same oddity. She was too called a medical miracle. Not natural- strange and abnormal.

Until the others where born that is. The many others. The hundreds, millions later billions of others.

The next generation could not see in colour, excluding that of their eyes. People were in a panic, worried it was a disease. That was, until the first two of this different kind of human fell deeply in love. This race finally being able to see all the colours past humans had come so used to. At least two of them. Of course others soon followed. 

And... That's where it continued. It didn't slow and every human born after the last world war had what was called a soulmate. Yes- a soulmate. When they found that certain person: something would click in their mind, causing them to see the beauties of colour for the first time.

It was confusing to the public. Not even the most well informed scientists claimed that they could figure out why this happened to humanity.

That's when the other side effect arose.

Another generation passed before it was noticed by anyone. Someone had watched a young girl jump off a bridge, but before she landed on the highway below; she began to float.

Everyone thought the story was fake. It even started another war. It was short loved and more of a rebellion. After this happened, it was thought of as unimportant. Reality is really very harsh on that way.

There -with that one girl- began the age of super humans, those with limited sight, but unlimited power. It was quite poetic in a dark way.

Everyone had a power, and from that generation forwards no one cared enough to figure out why.

But in reality, some people knew. Some people still know. The radiation of the nukes, it wasn't understood why it didn't give people radiation poisoning... But no one wanted to know. Not really.
