21. Lost

The place where missing things go,
Loose change, keys and spoons,
The place where sock monsters dwell,
Nestled in burst balloons.
Away from prying eyes,
Live lost friendships, tears, old flames,
And shadows of lies.

The place where missing things go,
A home for the lost,
And all big and little things,
Thrown about or tossed.
Maybe, that is where,
you could find your childhood dreams,
To seek, if you dare.

The place where missing things go
Abandoned by all,
Toys and childhood innocence
That place, home they call.
You do miss those days,
Yet cannot bring back those times
Even if you know the ways.

Day 21 is a Seguidilla Poem, a seven-line Spanish poetic form.

Seguidilla is one of those poetic forms that started off as a song before eventually settling on an established poetic form. Specifically, seguidilla began as a dance song.

So here are the basic rules:

· 7-line poem

· Syllable count for each line is 7-5-7-5-5-7-5

· One assonance rhyme between lines 2 and 4; another one between lines 5 and 7

· Pause between lines 4 and 5--usually an end stop

· Also, the tone or focus changes between lines 4 and 5 as well

~~Robert Lee Brewer on Poetic Asides (www.writersdigest.com)~

I used a poetic licence and wrote three stanzas giving a 21 line poem. Can you make it into a song, I think so. Can you dance to it - not too sure, unless it is a sad melancholy goodbye dance (is there one like it?)
