Zachary's POV(13 years later)

Why do people keep on kidnapping me? I don't know how long I have been in these woods but every now and then someone would kidnap me and keep torturing me for answers to some prophecy I don't know about.

Anyway, I've made a pretty good life out here. At first, it was hard. I had to teach myself how to properly hunt my food and watch out for the other wolves. When I was just a pup and I was hunting, they would always have some of their wolves fight with me while the rest of them would go after the prey. Once they had the food, they'd leave me there, bloodied and wounded, with no food.

Over time,though, I have grown bigger and stronger than them. Also, thanks to the kidnappings, I have a higher pain tolerance and more than just a few scars.

But enough about the past. Let's focus on the present. Right now, I'm following some hunters through the forest. These hunters have been following something for a while now but I don't know  what.

Anyway, I'm following them and as I go past the river I hear a scream. I run over to some bushes so I can see what's going on.

"We finally caught you, you mutt." Hunter 1 said

"Seeing as your an alpha's daughter, you should be worth something." Hunter 2 said

"Leave me alone!" the little girl yelled

"Not a chance. It's not everyday we get our hands on a bargaining chip." Hunter 1 said as he raised his gun

I decided I had enough and came out from the bushes and stood protectively in front of the girl. Not expecting me, the hunter lost his aim and shot somewhere else.

"Great. Another mutt." Hunter 2 said

"Shut up. This isn't just another mutt. This is Shadow. As in, the wolf who has been killing most of the hunters that enter this forest. He's dangerous and I don't want to die. Let's leave." Hunter 1 said

"Oh come on. I've seen scarier. If your too afraid to shoot, then I'll shoot. Plus, if he's that famous he should bring in some kind of reward." Hunter 2 said as he readied his gun. But I was faster as I ran up to him and rammed him into a tree, knocking out his breath.

The other hunter screamed and ran but I wasn't going to let him get away so I ran after him. I purposefully kept behind him so I could scare him by biting at his feet. And let me say this, I never guy could piss his pants while running. Its hilarious. I didn't want to get to far away from the girl so I cut my fun short and jumped up on his back causing him to fall. As my jaws got closer to his neck, he broke out into hysterical crying while saying "I don't want to die" over and over again. I took his neck into my jaws and bit down causing it to break. His body went limp in my mouth.

After I dropped him, I heard the little girl's scream again so I ran to where I left her. When I got there, hunter 2 was holding her by her neck over the edge of the waterfall. The little girl was crying and trying to claw his hands off of her but he didn't budge.

"Now, now Shadow. Come any closer and my hand might just slip. So be a good wolf and let me kill you." He said as he cocked his gun at me.

'Should I let him kill me? Or should I try to save the girl with a 40% chance of success?' I thought to myself

'Just because we don't have anyone who will cry when we die, doesn't mean that she doesn't.' Shadow, my wolf, said

So with that said, I ran up to the hunter and jumped on him causing all of us to fall. While in mid air, I managed to get the girl out of the guy's hand. When we were about reach the water below, I saw a rock jutting out from the waterfall that was in the girl's way so I maneuvered my body so the rock would hit me instead of the girl and the girl was on my back. After what seemed like forever, I hit the rock and fell into the river.

I then proceeded to surface with the girl on my back and got out of the water. I gently got the girl off my back and laid her on the ground. I nudged her with my muzzle until she opened here eyes. Then she looked at me.

'Are you okay, kid?' I asked

"I'm fine. Thank you." She said as she reached up and wrapped her little arms around my neck.

'Wait. You can understand me?'

"Yep. Because we're both werewolves." She said

'So, what were you doing out here by yourself?'

"My parents abandoned me out here alone. They said that they had a surprise out in the forest for me so we went into the woods. I found a box and went to go open but there was nothing in it. Then I turned around to ask my parents what happened but they were already gone. I've been out her for two days."

'No wonder you were all dirty. Lucky you we fell off a waterfall. It's getting late though so I guess I should go.' I said as I got up to go.

"Wait." She said as she clung to my hind leg. "I'm scared. Please don't leave me alone." She cried

'Alright. You can come with me. Hop on.' I  said motioning towards my back. She gave me this adorable little smile and got onto my back. Once she was on, I started making my way to my cave.

'So, what's your name?'

"Lily. But that's the name that my parents gave me. I want you to give me a name."

'Me? But-'

"Please." She said as she pulled out the puppy dog face.

'Oh alright. How about Iris? Its a flower and it means faith, wisdom, value, and friendship.'

"That's a pretty name. That's also my favorite flower."

'Really? That's cool.'

"So, what's your name?"

'My name is Zachary.'

"That's a cool name."

'Yep. Anyway, here we are. My home.' I said as we arrived at my cave. I walked inside and Iris hopped off my back.

'There's some leaves over there that you can sleep on. I'll get you something to eat in the morning.' I said as I settled down to sleep.

A few moments later, I heard sniffling. I looked around and saw Iris crying.

'Iris? What's wrong?'

"My parents didn't want me. Am I such a bad child?" She cried

'Come over here Iris.' She got up from where she was and came to me. She laid her head down on my stomach and I wrapped my body around her small one.

'Don't think about them anymore. If they abandoned you, its their loss because they lost such an adorable little girl. You can just stay with me and I'll be your family.'

"Really?"

'Yep.'

"Then, will you sing me a song?"

'Sure.' I said

"That was pretty."

'Thank you. Now go to sleep.'

"Okay. Good night, daddy."

It should have surprised me that she called me daddy but it felt so natural and cute. I guess I have daughter now.

'Good night, my flower.' I said as drifted off into a dreamless sleep for once.

Lucas' POV(1 month later)

"So dad, what do you want to do?" I asked my dad the current alpha

"About what? The increase of rogues in the forest or the fact that you still haven't found your mate?" He said

"Hey! It's not my fault I haven't found my mate. I went to all the packs in the world looking for him but he hasn't shown up. So give me a break dad."

"Fine. If it's about the  rogues, I want you, your beta, your gamma and a few other wolves to go search the forest for the rogues and exterminate them."

"Okay. I can do that. Bye." I said as I turned to leave.

"Wait. One more thing." My dad said as I opened the door. "Alpha Jackson's daughter has been missing so be on the lookout for her."

"You mean Lily? I never knew. She was cute little girl. I hope I do find her." I said as I walked out the door. I walked through the house and to the kitchen so I could talk to mother since she was cooking lunch.

"Hey mom!"

"Lucas? What are you doing in here? Lunch isn't ready yet."

"I didn't come for the food, though it is good, I came to say bye. I'll be in the woods for a while taking care of stuff."

"Ok. Don't forget to tell your sister. You know what happens when you leave without telling her."

"I won't forget. Bye!" I said as I walked out the door. When I walked outside, I was met with my beta, Axel, and my gamma, Bastien.

Axel was 6'3. He has short brown hair and blue eyes. He doesn't have as much muscle as me and Bastien but he is still strong. Bastien is 6'5 with short jet black hair, and blue eyes. I'm standing at 6'8 with black hair and storm grey eyes.

"Yeah. Let's go." I said as I shifted and everyone else followed suit. When we were all shifted, we ran into the forest.

5 hours later

'Dude, we've been out here for five hours already and we haven't seen any rogues. Can we please go home?' Axel said through the mindlink

'Yeah. I think we should-'

HOOOOOWWWWLLL

'Was that what I think it was?' Axel said

'I think so. Let's go guys.' I said as we headed towards the where the howl came from.

After running for a few minutes, we came across a small opening in the forest. We walked up to the bushes so we could watch what's going on. We saw a cave covered by these thick vines to our left. In front of it was a beautiful black wolf that had these silver cuffs around his paws and a chain around his neck. Also he had these beautiful Ruby red eyes. As I looked at him, I could feel my wolf getting anxious. Then I looked to our right and saw ten rogues getting ready to fight.

'Shouldn't we help? The guy is outnumbered.' Axel said

'No. We should wait to see what happens. The guy might not need our help.' Bastien said

'He's right. Just watch for right now.' I said

When we turned back to the scene, we saw half of the wolves attack the black wolf while the other half went towards the cave. The black wolf who was fighting the first half turned around and saw the others going to the cave and was about to go towards them but one of the rogues bit his hind leg. While that rogue held him the others proceeded to scratch him and bite him. However, he was fighting them back and managed to get them all off.

Once he did, he ran towards the group headed to the cave. He jumped and landed on the back of the leader and managed to scratch up his back before he was thrown off and into a tree. When he recovered, him and the leader circled each other while the others were just watching. The rogue leader decided to start by going for the black wolf's neck but he missed and the black wolf got the rogue leader's neck into his jaws. The rogue leader tried to get out of the black wolf's hold but the black wolf bit down on his neck therefore breaking it and killing him.

The other wolves weren't to happy about that so all nine of them jumped him. For a while, all I could see was a big ball of fur and heads and snapping jaws, but after a while, rogue bodies started dropping on the ground dead. Minutes later, the black wolf came out victorious but he was bleeding a lot.

"Daddy!" A little girl screamed

All three of us turned towards the cave to see who said it and out comes out a little girl that looks exactly like Lily. Wait! That is Lily!

'Hey Lucas, isn't that Lily? The missing alpha pup?' Axel asked

'Yep.'

'Then why is she calling that wolf daddy?' Bastien asked

'I don't know.'

"Daddy!" Lily said running up to the wolf and hugging him

"Are you hurt? Oh no. You're bleeding a lot. Come on, we need to get you cleaned up."

The wolf just shook his head no.

"What do you mean no? Why not?"

The wolf pointed his head towards the dead bodies.

"We can just bury the bodies in the morning."

The wolf looked at her like he was saying something.

"You wanna bury the bodies now because their friends might find them and try to hurt me? Oh alright, daddy. But you are gonna bury them here. You can't anywhere in your state. Okay?"

The wolf nodded his head and started digging a hole while Lily piled the bodies on top of one another. When the wolf what finished and he had a hole big enough for the wolves, he started dragging the bodies into the hole. While he was doing that, Lily went into the cave and came back out with a first aid kit and some bandages. By the time she had everything setup, the wolf had finished covering the hole with dirt. He walked over to the Lily and sat down with his left side facing her while she started cleaning his wounds.

"You know, daddy, I don't like to see you getting hurt because of me."

The wolf nodded.

"I know you're protecting me but I just want you to be happy."

The wolf bent his head and licked Lily's face.

"Alright, I understand. Protecting me makes you happy. Now then around so I can patch up the other side."

The wolf stood up to turn around but as he stood up, his legs started to shake and he fell on his right side

"Daddy!" Lily screamed. "What's wrong? Why did you fall?" She asked as she rolled him over to reveal this really big gash. She then started to cry while she tried to stop the bleeding. The wolf turned his head toward her.

"How can I not cry when hurt this badly!? No wonder you only showed me one side. Oh goddess, what should I do?" She said as she started to panic.

'We should go in there.' I said

We all shifted and pulled on some nearby shorts. Once we had on our shirts we went into the clearing. The wolf, noticing us, growled at us.

"Easy. We mean no harm. We just want to help you." I said as I started to smell lavender and Jasmine.

The wolf continued to growl at us and somehow wrapped his body around Lily while she just stared at us.

"Lucas? Is that you? And Axel and Bastien?" She asked

"Yep its us." I said

"Oh Axel. Bastien. I've missed you so much!" She cried as she ran and jumped into Bastien's arms and hugged Axel.

"What about me?" I asked

"I don't like you. You smell bad." She said and Axel busted out laughing while Bastien had a smile on his face. "But that's not the point. Daddy is hurt really bad. Can you help him?"

"We could take him to the pack doctor but-" Bastien said

"Oh, thank you Bastien! I knew you would be able to do something. So, who's going to carry him?"

We all looked at each other and then at the wolf. As the wolf looked between us, I hopes that he would pick me but instead, be picked Bastien.

"Why Bastien, daddy?" Lily asked

"Yeah, why me?"

"Daddy said its because you seem reliable. Now less talking and more saving!"

So Bastien gave Lily to Axel and picked up the wolf. Once they were ready, we started running to the pack house. After 15 minutes we made it to the pack house. I mindlinked the pack doctor while we were in the woods and told her that we were bringing someone in so by the the time we got in the house, she was ready to take car of him.

"My goddess, what happened to him?" She said

"We'll explain later. Right now, take care of him." I said. She nodded and took him away. I then turned around to see a crying Lily.

"Oh Lily. Everything will be alright." I said

"My name isn't Lily. It's Iris."

"But I thought your parents named you Lily."

"They did. But then they abandoned me in the forest a month ago."

"Abandoned? But I thought you were kidnapped."

"No. They abandoned me in a forest. After searching for a while, these mean people with guns came and tried to take me but then daddy came and rescued me. He told me his name was Zachary but he was so warm and nice like a father so I call him daddy. And he named me Iris because it means faith, wisdom, value, and friendship."

"Really? He sounds like such a nice guy."

"That's cause he is a nice guy. Stupid. He's  done a lot for me. He jumped off a waterfall, fought hunters, fought the rogues who came after me and hunted for our food."

"Wow." It was all I could say. I've never seen someone so devoted. Other than mates. While I'm thinking about Zach, his name sounding amazing in my mind, the pack doctor came our.

"Before I say anything, the patient has been saying something over and over again. 'My flower, my pup.' Is what he's been saying." She said

"My flower, my pup?" I asked

"He means me. My I have the name of a flower and I'm his daughter. Can I go see him?"

"Yep. But he's asleep right now. We had to give him a shot so he could shift to his human form though."

"Really? I can't wait to see what he looks like." Iris said as she ran into his room.

"So what did you want to say?" I asked

"Alpha, I'm afraid I have some bad news."
