«Çhapter Sixteen»
Aphmau's POV
I woke up late during the night trembling, my heart racing and fear coursing through my veins.
My eyes darted around my room as I searched for what had awoken me.
"Is someone there?" I whispered, peering into the darkness.
When I got no reply I almost let out a sigh of relief until the sound came again.
"Probably just a raccoon." I muttered and lied back down on my pillow as I tried to go back to sleep.

"Aphmau, breakfast!" Mom called from the bottom of the stairs.
I got out of bed and trudged downstairs, feeling more exhausted than I'd ever felt before.
"Aphmau, are you alright? You look so tired! There are bags under your eyes!" Mom exclaimed. "Sit down, I was about to put your food on the table."
I sat down and mom put a plate of pancakes in front of me. "Thank you." I muttered, yawning.
I cut my pancakes and started eating, yawning every now and then.
"Aphmau Jessica Phoenix, what's wrong? You've been yawning for the last ten minutes!" Mom said and I stifled another yawn so I could answer.
"Someone called yesterday while you were sleeping. He said that we were in danger and that a prisoner escaped. He said his name was Zach Phoenix and that he was my dad. Then I went to sleep but something outside woke me up. I didn't find out what it was and that alone kept me from getting a good night's sleep." I said and mom looked at me with a blank face. "Have you played poker? You'd be good at it." I said to break the awkward silence.
"Zach called? A prisoner escaped? We're in danger? Something was outside?" Mom said and started rambling about how we have to keep all windows and doors locked.
"Mom." I said but she didn't hear me. "Mom!"
She stopped rambling and looked at me. "Yes?"
"We'll be fine. Stop worrying."
"I can't stop worrying, you're my daughter. It's my job to worry.l
"Can I at least go to a birthday party?" I asked, hope filling my features.
"Fine. But only if I come with you."
Ein's POV
"...Happy birthday to you!" Polar finished singing and I rolled my eyes, going downstairs to get breakfast.
'Lola' slept on the couch last night since there wasn't anywhere else for her to go.
"Remember anything new?" I asked and she nodded, grinning like an idiot.
"Yup! I remembered my birthday and my friends names and stuff like that!" She beamed.
"Okay." I muttered, looking at my phone.
SAWsha: Everyone wants to hang out
at the meadow today for your
birthday. You up for it?
Sure. Why not? I mean,
I have nothing else to do.
SAWsha: Great! I'll text the others!
Seeya at 09:30! :P
Seeya.
I turned off my phone and set it down, my werewolf ears perking up because of a sudden movement outside.
I saw a flash of blonde hair and was immediately on alert in case it was Cameron.
I let out a sigh of relief when it was just a kid getting his soccer ball.
"Ein? You okay?" A voice asked and I nearly jumped out of my skin.
"I'm fine, Polar." I said and went to the front door. "I'm going for a run!"
"Take her with you, Ein!" Polar said and I knew exactly who she was talking about.
Rolling my eyes, I turned around and looked at 'Lola'.
"C'mon." I said and went outside.
'Lola' walked outside and stared at a house in the distance.
"What are you looking at?" I asked.
"There's someone in their bushes. I something shiny." 'Lola' said, walking towards the house.
I grabbed her arm and pulled her back. "You're seeing things." I said.
We started jogging in the opposite direction as I headed towards the meadow.
"Where are we going?" 'Lola' asked as we got closer to the meadow.
"A meadow where I'm supposed to meet up with my friends." I replied.
"Ein! Buddy!" Zenix shouted, waving at me. Sasha, Lily, Aaron, Nana, Zane, and the others that were still alive.
"Who's this?" Lily asked, looking at 'Lola'.
"This is my, ermm.... cousin... Sky." I said and 'Sky' nodded.
"Hi, nice to meet you!" She said with a smile.
"Sky's" POV
"My name is Sasha. This is Zenix." Sasha said and gestured to the boy standing next to her.
"My name is Lily. Nice to meet you!" Lily said.
"My name is Nana!" A pink haired meif'wa said in an annoyingly high pitched voice.
"Zane." A black haired boy muttered, staring at the ground.
"Aaron." A boy with black hair and black eyes said, leaning against a tree while standing in the shadows.
"Where's Lola?" Sasha asked, looking at Ein.
His face paled for a moment.
"Yeah, shouldn't she be here to celebrate her birthday?" Zenix asked.
"She died." Ein said.
"What! When?!" Zane asked, his eyes wide.
"A few days. She fought Cameron in the forest and... lost." Ein said.
"She fought him alone?!" Lily exclaimed. "Did she land any hits?"
"They both had knives." I said, acting like I witnessed the whole thing. "She managed a few hits, but in the end he stabbed her in the stomach. Over and over and over and over again."
"At least she had something to defend herself." Sasha said.
"I made cake!" Nana exclaimed, changing the subject.
She set out plates and started cutting a birthday cake, putting slices of it on the plates and giving everyone plastic forks.
"Hey, guys!" A soft voice called and a short girl with black hair and hazel eyes ran over, an older version of her in tow.
"Aph!" Aaron exclaimed, hugging her tightly.
"Hey, Aaron!" She squealed, hugging him while smiling.
"So this is what Aphmau looks like. I thought she died," Ein murmured. "Wasn't she shot like, two years ago?"
"Apparently, yes." Aphmau said, looking at Ein. "All I remember is darkness and then I was in the middle of the forest. I eventually found my way into town and arrived at my mom's doorstep and well, here we are."
"Interesting.." Ein muttered to himself.
"Huh? Who are you?" Aphmau asked me.
"My name is Sky. I'm Ein's cousin." I said with a grin.
"Nice to meet you." She said, turning again to talk to the others.
We started eating the cake Nana made and everything was quiet for a moment, but I was on alert for some reason.
"Ein." I whispered, getting his attention. "Someone is going to die today. I can feel it."
Aphmau and her mother left early, saying they shouldn't be out for too long.
3rd Person
"Aphmau, could you pass me that plate?" Sylvanna asked as they were cleaning up the house.
They had returned home an hour before and decided to clean since they had nothing else to do.
"Sure," Aphmau smiled, grabbing the glass plate from the table to hand to her mother.
She walked across the kitchen to the sink where she looked out the window for a moment because of a slight movement catching her eye.
"Time to watch this world suffer!" A short, cloaked figure cackled as he pointed a gun at a short girl with black hair.
"Aphmau!" Sylvanna yelled as the cloaked figure pulled the trigger.
Aphmau was pushed to the side as Sylvanna was shot in the stomach.
The cloaked figure ran off as Aphmau went to her mom's side.
"Mom!" She exclaimed, putting pressure on the wound. "Please don't die, mom!"
"Aphmau, I want you to know that...." Sylvanna's breathing slowed a little bit as tears gathered in her eyes. "I love you so much, Aphmau. You were the best daughter a mother could ask for."
Tears filled Aphmau's eyes as she listened to her mother.
"I'm sorry, Aphmau," Sylvanna choked out. "I don't want to leave you like this, but.... I don't have a choice. I'll watch over you from heaven."
"Mom, please don't leave me! Mom? Mom!" Aphmau cried as Sylvanna's breathing stopped and her hazel eyes grew dull and lifeless.
"Now, Aphmau, time for you to die. This time, I'll make sure you don't come back." Cameron cackled as he shot her.
The shot echoed through the neighbourhood as the raven haired girl slumped to the ground with red pooling around her.
Her lifeless form was only inched from her mother, both of them with their eyes open, their final tears slipping from their eyes.
Cameron bolted and searched for his next targets; Aaron Lycan and Zane Ro'meave.
A/N: Holy Crap. This was by far the worst chapter I've ever written. I must be drunk off of tea. 😐
So... Aphmau died. Again. And Sylvanna died. And Cameron is going to go after Aaron and Zane.
