Chapter 16
Anjali had been looking around for Arnav and Khushi since a while now. It turned out to be harder than she imagined to get both of them at a place together. They were stoned and they were roaming freely in between crowds of people playing Holi. And they had consumed more Bhaang later on. So they were worse than children. The one escaped as soon she found the other. It was as if they were playing games with her.
She finally spotted Khushi dancing with both the families. And to her luck she found him standing not far away from her.
Finally.
She reached him as soon as she could with her limping leg.
Anjali - Chote.
He looked at her innocently, like a child in confusion. Then he again averted his eyes towards her, the girl he loved.
She followed his view and smiled with excitement written all over her face.
Anjali - What do you think of Khushiji?
Arnav - Ha?
He glanced her, perplexed at that minute. She signalled at Khushi with her eyes. As soon he looked at her, a smile adorned his face.
Arnav - She's beautiful. Thodi pagal hai, par cute hai. (A little bit mad but cute)
Anjali widened her eyes. She couldn't hold back her elation and smiled in between chuckles. This was what he really thought of Khushi, what he felt about her. And it was satisfying. But this wasn't enough. She needed both of them to talk and hopefully confess about their feelings.
She turned back to him, only to realize he was missing again.
Anjali - Urgh.
She groaned in annoyance but promptly detected him moving towards the dancing bunch of Guptas and Raizadas with an intruder dancing around Khushi.
She couldn't believe her eyes what she saw next. He pushed the man away in jealousy and started dancing himself. All of the other members were too potted to notice the act of jealousy. Everyone except of a certain someone who had been following Khushi around, oblivious to others.
Anjali felt immense satisfaction as she saw the whole of her family dancing carelessly and mostly her brother. He had long forgotten dancing and enjoying. She recalled the last time he danced before sharing the stage with Khushi on Akash's Sangeet. It was on that cruel day of her wedding day. The day they lost their everything at once. Everything except of each other.
She wiped the lone tear that had escaped her eye and smiled gulping. She walked to the rest and gave in to the music. Then followed a time of crazy moves.
After a while Arnav was the first one to stop and leave the dance party. Anjali noticed it on time and pulled Khushi aside.
Anjali - Khushiji, what do you think of Chote?
Khushi frowned keeping a finger between her teeth and then grinned childishly before answering dreamily.
Khushi - He's Laad Governor. Rude and arrogant. But he's very handsome, and caring.
Anjali - Perfect. Don't you think you should tell Laad Governor what's in your heart?
And again the poor soul was baffled. She scratched her head.
Khushi - Should I?
Anjali - Yes. You totally should. See, there he goes. Go and tell your Laad Governor everything that's in your heart.
She literally put her thoughts into her mind and almost pushed her towards the direction he just went to.
Khushi - my Laad Governor...
Khushi was naive and intoxicated, so easily followed her advice and made up her mind to tell Laad Governor what's in her heart. And in her heart was one question that she hadn't been able to voice out in front of him.
*
Arnav reached his room and sat down on the bed blankly. He was totally dumbfounded. He chuckled to himself remembering there was something important he needed to do but under the influence of cannabis everything appeared unimportant.
Everything except of one person.
Khushi - Laad Governor.
He heard her and smiled at himself thinking he's missing her so much he can hear her.
Arnav - I'm missing Khushi, so much...I'll go back to see her.
He got up to return to the celebration venue but found her at the poolside, knelt down and observing the water. Her face was wet. She had washed it.
Khushi - Wooooow...water.
Arnav - Khushi
His face lit up at the view of her. He stepped out to the poolside and walked to sit down beside her. She gawked at him and then at the water, clapping a curious baby.
Khushi - Arnavji, see water. Soooo blue it is.
She giggled and he blinked at his reflection on the surface. Then he smiled too shaking his head in agreement.
Arnav - Yes. So blue. See, sky too. Blue.
They both laughed looking up at the sky. Their reasonless laughter continued for few more minutes before they calmed down and stared each other affectionately.
He brought his hand up to tuck the hair strand behind her ear which had been disturbing his view. And as soon he touched her she knitted her brows together in a frown. She came here for some reason and tried to remember the same.
Khushi - Ah! Yes. Tell my Laad Governor what's in my heart.
He blinked and tilted his head at her. The word Laad Governor sounded familiar but he couldn't gather his mind in that state.
Khushi - My Laad Governor, now I'll tell you what's in my heart. A very important question.
She spoke slowly with pauses and emphasized each and every word. He shall not miss anything.
Arnav raised his brows slowly leaning his face more towards her.
Arnav - What question?
Khushi - Will you ever marry me?
Like an unsure child, she asked the question she wouldn't have asked in consciousness like an unsure child. At the same time he was finally reminded of the important thing he wanted to do. It had the top most priority.
So he stood up and went inside his bedroom to get a little box while Khushi's face fell drastically. She blinked several times before big fat tears dropped out of her eyes.
Khushi - He won't marry me. My Laad Governor.
And finally she cried out loud throwing herself onto the recliner and moved her legs and arms stubbornly. She blew her nose in her dupatta still crying loudly.
Arnav - Khushi
He sat down beside and made her look at him innocently, not understanding her sudden outburst. She moved her shoulders back jerking his hands off them.
Khushi - Don't talk to me. You're a bad man.
She turned her face to the side sulking, her lower lip pulled out as much as possible.
Arnav looked down in dismal and took the ring out of the box.
The night she told him she's not comfortable just being his girlfriend and prefered fianceé or wife, he made up his mind to propose her. The next day itself he trusted Aman with the task to have a simple yet elegant ring made for her. He decided to first surprise Khushi with a marriage proposal before announcing their decision to their families.
Originally he was to get down on one knee in a week but as Aman hurried with the task and presented the ring a day ago already, Arnav chose to go for it today itself.
He spent the last night making plans about the how and when. It even occurred to him to maybe decorate the poolside but there were too many people at home and would have seen it earlier than her. After a lot of pondering he chose to go the business way and be straightforward as he is, handle it like a deal. She wasn't going to deny anyway. She wanted to marry him.
He had even called her up in his room earlier but was diverted by her inviting lips and then Aman's call.
And now here he was, stoned, easygoing and vulnerable, holding a ring in his finger while she sobbed like a three years old.
Arnav - I am a bad man...? You, would still marry me, right?
He was frank and childlike hoping for a positive reply. She stopped crying and peered at him.
Khushi - Really? I shall marry you?
Arnav - Yes. Marry me. And I promise, it'll be the best deal of your life.
This time it wasn't a question. It was a request. He held her hand and slid the ring onto her finger.
She smiled wide now and wiped her cheeks before admiring the new piece on her hand.
Khushi - This is so beautiful.
Arnav - Not more than you.
And her giggles returned. He smiled for she was happy now. They will marry each other finally. She will be with him then, forever.
She was fascinated by the solitaire while he was captivated by her cheerful and ecstatic expression. She posed with her hand, laughing continuously.
Khushi - How does it look?
He didn't reply to that. He was lost in her.
She kept her hand glued to her face, beaming with open mouth, waiting for a response. It was rather a too cute scenario for him. Overwhelmed by the incredible rush of the drug called love, he gripped her hand instead and brought it closer to his heart. He wanted to keep her in there forever, locked in his safe heart. She blinked slowly looking at him seriously as he pulled her. She rested her head on his shoulder and the entire world stopped. Suddenly they were filled with a feeling of delirium. Everything they are and ever were - long forgotten. At that exact moment only their alter egos existed. The naive and pure lovers in them. And these lovers carefully scanned each other's face, wanting to capture even the tiniest detail. Their eyes halted at their lips. And once again the suppressed mind came into the light.
Khushi - I want to kiss you.
She spoke out of nowhere, surprising even a wasted Arnav who eyed her longingly.
Khushi - I wanted to kiss you before too. But Aman ji na, always keeps disturbing us. Tell him to not disturb us when we are to kiss.
She gritted her teeth and pointed her finger at him in a warning. He better do what she demands.
Arnav - Yes. I probably should. I'll tell him right now.
He looked around for his phone but she shook her head in denial pulling him closer.
Khushi - No. Later. Now, kiss me. I want to know how it feels.
Arnav - It'll be my pleasure.
He leaned forward to take her lips into his but she pulled her head back. He frowned not understanding her action. She lowered her eyes pulling her lower lip out.
Khushi - I, I can't kiss. I don't know anything. I've never kissed anyone, you see.
He didn't laugh or make fun of her. Instead he gently cupped her face in an understanding gesture to make her comfortable.
Arnav - It's easy. I'll teach you. Just do as me. You know, I also want to know how you taste.
She simpered and rested her palm on his hand, touched by his caring nature. Running her hand over to his collar, she pulled him to herself.
Khushi - Then taste me.
There was nothing he would have done rather than this. And so, the most anticipated moment finally arrived. Their eyes closed, their heads bent, their lips met. He kissed her in a way she didn't ever imagine. His hands were cupping her cheeks and hers locked around his neck pulling him down slightly.
He started with a close-mouthed, keeping her lack of experience in consideration. His hands moved down onto her waist. And soon it was full on, open-mouthed, a sensual kiss yet he was tender, he was slow.
In contrary to him, she was an amatuer. She copied his every little move, trying to hide her inexperience. The kiss spread a cozy warmth throughout her entire body. She loved the way his soft juicy lips felt against hers, the way their breath mingled together. The way their lips fit like two puzzle pieces.
They broke away after what seemed like ages. Both gasped for air, their foreheads resting against each other. They gathered some much needed oxygen. He gawked her with sheer desires visible in his eyes.
She opened her eyes with a smile playing on her wet lips. She licked them and raised her lashes.
Khushi - And? How do I taste?
He beamed at her pout and stole a quick peck of it before responding to her question.
Arnav - Delicious. Very sweet
Her face fell. She blinked her eyes and raised her tipsy finger to point out something. After a few seconds of pondering, she uttered her concern.
Khushi - Then don't kiss me. You can't have sweet. You're diabetic. Sweets are bad for you and I don't want to lose you.
He awarded her innocence with an amused look. She was quite serious but, so he brought his face closer and rubbed his nose with hers.
Arnav - Diabetes doesn't work like that, silly!
Khushi - No?
He admired the puppy face she made. He could get used to it. So chuckling very lightly himself, he shook his head in agreement and confirmed his reply.
Khushi - Then can we kiss again? I liked it. It felt so good. My heart was like, jumping.
She explained her perception with a lot of excitement, like a child. And he couldn't let her ask him again. Hers shall be the only lips he should be kissing from now on. And she shouldn't have to ask twice. If she wished, he would put the world at her feet. This was only a kiss. Something he wanted as much as her.

So here you got your Kiss! This time no interruption :D I told you you're gonna like the next update, didn't I?
Ok, now one important thing. I am really busy with IPKKND anniversary on I-F. Every year we celebrate it with an anniversary thread dedicated to the show.
So everyone who's on I-F and wants to send wishes and gifts (Vms, edits, poems etc.) can PM me on I-F on my account there. It's Daenerys.
Hadn't it been for I keep few chapters typed beforehand, I'm afraid there probably wouldn't have been any update this week. That's the reason why there is no update on Twins series. But am trying. I have to give up on sleep maybe to update it though xD
Also, one more thing: Next week I'll be updating on Wednesday instead of Tuesday. It's the 6th of June, so I'll update it on the occasion IPK's anniversary because I'll be too busy the days before preparing the thread and a contest I'm conducting on I-F.
Love,
Pari.
