Chapter 2 February 11
Sidney and Jonathan are walking together to the country villages.
"I heard that the hotels are awful," Sidney tells Jonathan.
"Yea, I heard that, too. But I think they fixed 'em up already."
"I don't wanna drink orange water. Or throw away dirty toilet papers in the trash. Or trip on potholes--"
"Sid, it's okay! They fixed it up already, okay?" Jonathan cries.
"Okay." Sidney hugs Bubby.
They stop in front of a huge, brown cabin with the Canadian flag hanging next to the porch.
"Well, Sid, I guess this is our last good-bye," Jonathan says with a sigh.
"But we'll be seeing each other during the Olympics," Sidney tells Jonathan.
"As enemies."
Sidney sighs. "Yea. Here." He pulls out Bubby Jr. from his pocket and hands him over to Jonathan. "For you to remember that we are still friends even though the world views us as enemies."
Jonathan looks down at Bubby Jr. in his hand weirdly. "Uhhh...thanks?"
Sidney pulls out a long piece of paper from his pocket. "And here are the things of how to take care of him." He hands it to Jonathan.
Jonathan takes it and scans through it. "Give him banana ice cream once a week? Don't deprive him of the Anaheim Ducks? Let him call Bubby every morning and evening at 4:26?! Really, Sid?"
Sidney nods his head. "That's right!"
"Well, thanks. Highly appreciate this."
"I trust that you'll take good care of Bubby Jr."
"Wow. You have a bunch of trust in me."
"Yup."
Toews comes out onto the porch. "Crosby, our captain! Stop talking to that star-spangled colonist and get your maple leaf lovin' self in here!"
"Okay, okay!" Sidney calls out to his teammate. He turns back to Jonathan. "Good-bye, Jonny!" He hugs him with Bubby.
"So long, Sid." Jonathan pats Sidney's head, who begins to cry. "Are you crying?"
Sidney pulls away from him. "I'm not crying, I'm Canadian." He wipes his eyes. "Good-bye." He lumbers up the porch to Toews and goes inside the cabin.
Jonathan looks down at Bubby Jr. "I will always be--"
Patrick pops out of nowhere and almost jumps on Jonathan's back. "Hey yo, Jonny man! Let's go to da American's house, dude!"
Jonathan turns around to face Patrick. "Okay, okay, okay! Let us go!"
They walk off, looking for their cabins.
