Chapter 17 Drake

Armen and the girl that they kept calling April were having a staring contest. He told her to teach us but she didn't understand. She was the one who needed the teaching. Maybe we needed to tell her what was going on.

"You want me to catch them up in school?" the girl said. "Do you have any idea how long that would take?"

"Just catch them up with what is currently going on," Armen told her. "I need your help and did Mia tell you everything?"

"Yah, she told me. And I believe her. But I was disappointed that she didn't have a unicorn under her bed."

Mia laughed, they had formed am inside joke during the short time span we have been in this world. I wish I could bond with somebody that well right after meeting them. Maybe I could with Angelina, she was my sister after all.

"We don't have time for fun business," Armen said. I was afraid that he was going to explode with how stressed he sounded. Hopefully he wouldn't be like this tomorrow.

"Sorry," April said, she started to lack her confidence. "Ok then, let's get started."

She started to tell us which teachers taught what and where we had to go. Armen just sat back the whole time, getting lost in thought. I would have done the same, but I thought that I needed to pay attention to April. When she finished with everything, she asked Armen if we could go get our instruments and learn the basics. He told her to help us get all of our stuff, but my backpack was already in there.

I just went with the flow and followed April. We went to the band room and it was empty. Nobody was in there, not even the teacher. She took us to what was called the band lockers and I just looked at them. There was a small one, and it just drew me to it. I grabbed the lock and looked at it. I had no idea how it worked, but before I knew it, I opened the lock.

Grayson and Mia just stared at me. "I have no idea how I did that," I said. "Maybe you guys should try."

They all went to a locker and opened it the same way I had, when April opened hers she actually knew what she was doing. She instructed us to take the boxes and the thin books out of the lockers. We did as told and continued on with the mission.

She took us to the 7th grade hallway and there was a wall of similar lockers, but the doors weren't just litter bars, they were real metal doors. Again we were drawn to a locker and somehow opened it. April told us what to get and we returned to the room that we had left Armen in.

When we got back to the room, Armen looked like he was afraid if we would be back.

"You guys just hang out for a few minutes," he said. "It's almost time for lunch. I hope you all like the food here."

That was one of the best things I heard all day. The last thing I ate was that sandwich thing, which now that I think about it, it was pretty good. But the best thing I heard all day was the fact that I had been reunited with my friends. It took hardly any time at all. I wish it was like this for the first portal. Grayson wouldn't have had experienced the loss of a family. He wouldn't be the man he was today. Maybe it was a good thing that things happened that way. But I will never know for sure.
