Jesse's Perspective
December 6th, 2019
While all the students danced to their heart's content, I was checking the quality of their tap water. Foxcroft boasted its cleanliness, and part of that was hiring me yearly to search for contaminants.
Foxcroft's private well was up the mountains, further up from the school. I knew some people that lived near or on the mountain also used the well for tap water, so I made sure to do my best every year.
Previously, the water had been without flaw, but not this year. There was something strange... An unidentifiable something that had made its way into the water.
"I would advise against drinking it until the substance is identified and/or eradicated," I said to the school principal.
"Would you advise buying more bottled water then?"
"That would be a given."
"Hm. I wonder: could this substance be a virus?"
"Yes, it could be. Why do you ask?"
"We had a little disease go around the school, all cured now, but it was strange. No one could easily trace the source and, since it only affected a small group of people, it wasn't looked into as much."
"I see. I would ask someone to take a closer look. Someone qualified with access to a lab. Until then, put a ban on tap water."
"Yes. I'll do that right away."
