Chapter Twelve: Florrie

December 1st, 2019

After Harvey double-checked what exact steps needed to be taken with the school nurse, we went on our way. The cure was being administered at a small hospital near Foxcroft, since our school was the only place affected by the disease.

When we arrived, we showed the lady at the front desk our student IDs and explained what we needed. She was very kind and quickly sent us to one of the small rooms where we were greeted by a nurse.

After the nurse took down our symptoms, we were told to wait in the small room. Harvey sat on the rolling stool and I hopped onto the plastic bed.

"Let's hope this doesn't take too long." I sighed.

"I hope so too. But hey, at least we have each other to talk to," Harvey remarked, practically reading my mind. I smiled at him, and he smiled back.

It wouldn't be too bad of a wait, surely.

Thirty minutes later, the nurse finally arrived with two capped needles. Talking to Harvey made the wait seem like seconds.

Even though I hated shots, I was relieved it was time to get them. It meant we would be out soon. Maybe we would do something fun afterward.

"Okay, sleeves up, arms out. Who wants to go first?" the nurse asked.

"I can go first," Harvey volunteered.

After a moment it was over, and she was putting one of those cute colorful band-aids on it. Maybe they were all out of the regular ones.

"Okay. It's your turn. Arm please," the nurse said as she walked towards me with the needle. I held out my arm and turned away, not really wanting to watch.

"Do you want me to hold your hand?" Harvey asked, moving to sit next to me on the plastic hospital bed.

"Yes."

It was quick and painless. The nurse stuck a Sofia the First bandage on and told us we could leave after fifteen minutes, just to make sure we weren't allergic.

"I thought we would be out after the shots." We had already been stuck here for so long, in the tiny little room. I leaned onto Harvey's broad shoulder.

"At least we know the exact time. Earlier we just had to wait."

"I guess you're right. Hey, maybe we could do something after this?"

"Sure, what would you wanna do?"

"Hm... Let's get hot chocolate!"

We drove to a cute little coffee shop near the hospital. It was a tiny cafe, that was basically a hole in the wall, but it was popular amongst the students. Today though, it was only Harvey, a worker, and me.

"Two hot chocolates, please," Harvey asked the barista.

"Oh, I'm sorry we only have enough to make one large hot chocolate," the worker said apologetically.

Harvey looked at me, "We'll share a large then."

"If you guys don't mind the wait, we have a shipment scheduled sometime tonight..."

Shrugging, Harvey pulled out some cash and handed it to the worker. "It's fine. A large will have enough for the both of us."

The barista shifted over to the preparation area and started making our hot coco. We sat down at a little booth. It was a homey red color and the table was wood. Harvey sat across from me and made some serious eye contact.

The worker brought our hot chocolate over with two straws and some creamers. I ignored the straw and took a delicate gulp of the steamy coco.

"You have drink all over your lip," Harvey pointed out. "Let me lick it off..."

"Maybe later. Here." I passed him a straw and unwrapped my own. We slurped in sync and finished that coco in no time.

"The coco is drying on your upper lip. Let. Me. Lick. It. Off." Harvey swung over to my side of the booth. He felt like dominating and lucky for him... I'm a Capricorn. He got real close and I waited for his lips to meet mine. Instead I felt his warm, sandpaper-ish tongue grazing my upper lip.

His tongue swiped multiple times on my invisible mustache. I gasped and my hands tangled into his hair, pulling him closer and closer. Soon, his legs had made their way on top of mine and I was crushed with his kiss.

"Harvey... We're in public. You weigh too much, get off me."

"Fine." Harvey slid off me and pulled me into his arms. "Better?" His hand began shifting under my bum. Out of the blue, his strong hands clenched.

"We need to get out of here." Harvey lifted me up, still holding fast to my bum. I guess when Harvey got comfortable with someone, he wasn't so awkward anymore.

Soon, I was laid in the backseat of his car.

"The windows are tinted, but we don't have to do anything you don't want to," Harvey said, already slithering on top of me. His head rested on my chest, right where my heart was.

"I'm kinda of jealous of your heart."

"Why?"

"Cause it's pumping inside you... and I'm not."

Woah. Harvey was moving pretty fast. He hated me. I punched him. Now he loves me. What is going on?

"Okay... this is... unexpected." My eyes were as big as an owl's, staring up at Harvey's handsome face. His weight crushed me, and I could hardly move. I hated to say it, but I liked it.

"Yeesh, you're one strong boy," I teased.

"Sorry if I'm being awkward. This tends to happen whenever I really like a girl..."

"You really like me?" I had to suppress a gasp to choke out the words.

"Duh. Though it doesn't happen a lot, I just shared a drink with you and carried you out in my arms."

"Then let's make it official. You and me."

"I'm good with that." His hand, the one he wasn't using to hold up his body, found its way to my face. A thumb wiped my lower lip, pulling it down.

"Good. Now get off me."

Harvey rolled his eyes and released me from the cage of his body. I scurried out from underneath him and to the passenger seat in the front. Only a little later, Harvey plopped down in the driver's seat.

"That was good. We should go out for hot chocolate more often."

I smiled and agreed.
