For beginners, I think its really best to keep these in mind:

1. TAKE CRITICISM.

--The heavier the criticism a person/namely your readers give you, the better. Always remind yourself that criticism should be taken as a positive thing. The more you see your mistakes, the sooner you can correct them and do better the next time.

I, at first, took in some criticism too. Hell, until now I still do sometimes. But always remember that, that is just NORMAL and don't let it get to your nerves too much. Think of it as their way of wanting you to be better than you already are.

Take criticism a challege. They critisize you NOT because they want to bring you down, but because they want you to enhance yourself in the field of writing.

Truthfully, there was a time when I joined a short story writing contest managed by a publishing company. The topic is about economical problems and yeah, I completely have no idea about that.

When I submitted it, I was kinda hoping they'll accept it because it really is my dream to be a writer, but when I got a reply after a week, they said that I still need to be more creative and improve my writing. I smiled at that.

So, even until this very day, I note their advice.

Don't hate critics. They make you stronger. Believe me.

2. SEEK HELP

--Yeah, you should seek some help or something especially if its your first story. I won't call the people "experts" but resident writers on Wattpad. Let them read your story.

Ask them to critisize your work and give you some pointers.

You may take up criticism, but without the right people to critisize your work on proper basis, you may or may not enhance yourself more.

But of course, everyone has a right to do some criticism! But sometimes, you just need to seek some help from the experienced ones that can understand you and all.

There are A LOT of friendly people here on Wattpad. So, I guess that won't be a problem.

3. THE AUTHOR'S NOTE

--Don't get me wrong. I have nothing against writers with long A/N. But limit it as much as possible, okay?

Now, none of us would want the awkward, "Author's note is longer than chapter itself" scene, now do we? Haha. Just saying :)

4. FIND YOUR WRITING TIME

--This is one way to write chapters properly. Find your writing time. This is the time of the day you are at your peek of writing chapters. Its like, at that certain time, your laziness will be in an OFF mode.

Your writing time could be early in the morning, noon, afternoon or even night time. Its up to you to discover it.

Why do you need to discover your WT? Because, take for example, you wrote a chapter while laziness strucks you. Do you think you can even write properly or better yet, a decent chapter during that time?

No.

That's why you really need to find that time of day where you feel industrious in writing.

Me? I discovered my WT is in the late afternoon (after I take my nap) up to about 11 pm in the evening.

Haha. Really, I only write during that time of day. You can never force me to write a chapter in the morning or else you'll either get a really short one or a crappy one.

5. STAY HUMBLE.

--If you succeed, then stay as you were before you did :)

If you're lucky enough to be different, never change...

It means that even if you already passed the stage and stepped out of the 'beginners zone' then just stay the same. Resident writer or not, we should always keep in mind that being a great person doesn't depend on how many FOLLOWERS or VOTES you receive in this site.

If they don't vote your stories, then that doesn't make you less of a person...
