Chapter 2. Rival

Melanie P.O.V

I didn't feel like my usual self lately, I've had trouble sleeping for the past few nights and I usually have these horrible nightmares that cling to the back of my mind. I hope its only temporary.

As I entered the school I spotted Viola at her locker.

"Hiya Mel! Is it just me or are Tuesday mornings gloomy as heck?" Viola exclaimed as I walked up to her.

"Not to me, really," I replied.

Viola pouted. "Ehh, they kinda are."

"Whatever, you dimwit," I said as I poked her forehead.

"You baka!" Exlaimed Viola, giggling.

I turned around as I could hear a familiar voice.

Georgia.

I heard her from a few metres away, chatting with her friends.

I have to say, she's a unique kind of pretty. Her long, chestnut hair falls in curls at her back, her sea green eyes reflect her happiness and her figure is really slim.

I watched her in envy. It's not fair how she's so much prettier and she's trying to take Troy away from me.. I clenched my fists in anger.

I won't let her. I can't let her.

~

After class, usually i'd sit with Viola and eat my hurriedly prepared lunch (by me) but I knew today I had to teach that Georgia a lesson.

"Sorry, Vi, I can't eat lunch with you today, we'll eat together tomorrow, okay?" I said.

"Aww, bummer, I wanted to tell you about these awesome stickers I found at the supermarket the other day!" She exclaimed.

"Maybe next time," I said as I sweat dropped.

"Meanie."

I left the classroom and searched for that Georgia girl. I had an idea of which class she was in, but apparently she went to the bathroom.

As I entered I could see her staring into the mirror, checking her make up.

"Are you Georgia?" I asked.

She turned around, surprised. "Yes, what's the matter?" She replied.

"I'll say it once, stay away from my Troy, you got that?"

She stared in disbelief at me. "Excuse me? Is he your boyfriend or what?"

I sighed. "No, not yet.."

"Ha! What a hypocrite. Why should I even listen to you? He isn't your boyfriend so I can talk to him if I want. You're just a jealous stalker, I bet," she exclaimed, clearly enjoying this situation.

I opened my skirt pocket (I have a pocket in my school uniform skirt, sooo they do exist xD)
And took out a pair of shiny scissors.

I pointed them at her neck as I glared into her eyes.

What am I doing? Why am I doing this again? Am I really losing my sanity over a boy that doesn't even notice my existence?

"Listen up, because i won't repeat myself. You either stay away from Troy or you'll be stupid enough to deny this threat and get yourself killed by these beautiful scissors that are yearning for blood," I whispered into her ear.

She was clearly shocked as she stated at me with fear for her life. I put my scissors back into my pocket and smirked at her.

It was a sick smirk, a smile that I couldn't recognize.

Who have I become?

Georgia nodded shakily and left the bathroom. Im sure she must've been scared to death

I wonder.. when have I become like this.

~

I kicked open the door to my room and angrily threw my bag across the room. (We got a badass over here damn)

"Why? Why am I going crazy over a boy? Where's the old Melanie I used to be?" I exclaimed.

This isn't right. I shouldn't be aggressive or mean, I definitely shouldn't threaten to kill anyone over flirting with a boy I like.

I smirked. Maybe.. I should just accept this new me. Maybe this is me.. evolving? Slowly changing into a better person?

"Haha.....ha..HAHAHAHHA...AHAAHAHAHAHAHAHHAH!" I laughed and laughed. I couldn't control myself anymore.

I completely lost it, and somewhere in the middle I lost myself too.

~

As usual, when I wake up i'd brush my teeth, get dressed and walk to school. Boring and repetitive. But id never eat breakfast, I can't stand to eat in the morning.

I'd meet up with Viola at school and totally listen to my boring teachers during class. Not.

School is boring in general. The only thing i'd look forward to in school is.. seeing Senpai. One look at his flawless face makes me overflow with happiness. It's beyong words to describe this wonderful feeling.

As I chat with Viola about those weird stickers she saw some time ago, I spotted Troy talking to some guys. I stared at his chocolate brown hair. It looked nearly edible.

"Meeellllaniee? Are you alive?" Exclaimed Viola as she shook me violently.

"Im here, jeez!" I assured her.

"Good! Cause im not done with my story, y'know."

"Go on; im listening," I muttered.

It was hard to keep track of Troy when Viola would distract me most of the time, but I guess I got used to it. Nothing new from that rowdy dork.

I couldn't help but stare at Troy. To me he's flawless. His eyes, his hair, his body, his clothes, his smile, his smell, everything. I even knew his parent's names and his whole family tree.

Talk about obsessed.

Apparently his parent's got divorced when he was in 6th grade and he suffered because of it. He's incredibly gifted in sports. I admire him so much.

He's my precious senpai.

And i'd do anything for senpai. After all I exist only for him.

I felt myself being shook but I ignored it as I stared at Troy.
I couldn't care less about Viola's stickers, sorry not sorry.

"Melanieee why don't you listen?" Moaned Viola.

"Sorry but im tired, haven't had much sleep this week and you won't leave me and my poor brain alone," I said.

"Eh? I don't understand, but I don't want you to ignore me; i'm your friend!"

"I know, I know, sorry."

"I forgive you, but you have to buy me a muffin!" Exclaimed Viola.

"Sure, I don't mind," I muttered.

Viola was always a rather noisy person, but she always listened. She's childish and sulky but that's part of her charm. She annoys me a lot but she's my friend regardless.

I just wish she could've stopped me from loving Troy, because that was the worst mistake of my life as bit by bit my sanity was being eaten away.

It's frightening, really.

'Oh, look, there's a new girl!" Exclaimed Viola as she pointed to the door. I glanced at the door and saw a beautiful girl.

She had short blonde hair, chocolate brown eyes and pale, porcelain - like skin. She looked like a living doll.

"Class, this is a new student who's joining our class," announced the teacher.

"Hello everyone, my name is Roxanne but call me Roxie. Im 16 years old and my hobby is cooking. I hope I'll be able to make friends!" She exclaimed. Her voice was uncomfortably high, but cute at the same time.

Everyone cheered at the new girl but I just continued staring at Troy.

A new girl just means a new rival to me. And that obviously doesn't mean anything good.
