Test Run
Alphinaud continued to throw uneasy glances at Krile as she played with Papalymo. "She's tame now, you know. You've gotta stop worrying." I said, looking at the elezen. He turned to me. "Well, I think it only right to be afraid. Those things are lethal!" Alphinaud replied. "But she's tame, Alphi. Plus, we got away from the ravagers from before. It's all good!" I said. He gave me an "Are you seriously saying that" look. "Well of course it's all ok to you. You're not the one who almost died!" Alphinaud pointed to his torso, the bandages loose under his shirt. I winced. "Right. Sorry. It's just, you're doing so much better, I almost forgot." I mumbled. "It's ok. Just please make sure that 'Krile' doesn't kill us in our sleep." Alphinaud said. I looked toward the two dog like creatures. Krile lightly smacked Papalymo, who then fell over. The ravager's tail lowered as she inspected the bulbdog. Papalymo shot back up and licked Krile's nose, causing lots of tail-wagging from her. I smiled. "I don't think we need to worry about any killing." I walked over and gave each creature a pat on the head, then strolled to the smithy bench, where there was a recipe waiting. I worked for a few minutes, the stepped back. "There we go! Hey Krile! Come here, girl!" I whistled to the ravager, who bolted over as soon as the sound left my mouth. Alphinaud watched me as I slid the brand new saddle onto Krile's back. Excited to test it out, I hopped onto the saddle. Krile gave a happy bark. "Well? What do you think?" I asked Alphinaud. He gave me a thumbs up. "Looks good! Does it function well?" He asked back. "Let's see!" I grabbed the reins and Krile started moving. I steered her around the base at a slow speed. "Yup! It seems to work just fine! Now, let's test it out... outside!" I steered Krile over to Alphinaud and patted the back of the saddle. "You coming?" I asked. He looked at the ravager. She wagged her tail. Alphinaud flinched but got on anyway. "Hmm. Saddle feels nice and comfy too." He said. "Well, I lined it with hide and stuffed it with a few dodo feathers!" I replied proudly. I whistled for Papalymo, who ran over and jumped up onto my shoulder. Then I directed Krile over to the behemoth door that lead to the forest. As soon as we were outside, she shot off, causing Alphinaud and I to almost fall off the saddle. "Krile! No! Stop it!" I yanked on the reins and the ravager slowed to a stop, giving us an apologetic whimper. I sighed and willed Krile to move forward once again. She seemed to have learned from that one mistake, as she did not do anything crazy again. We started out slow, with basic things like maneuvering, jumping and increasing stamina. Then came the fun part. Putting all those thing together! "You Ready girl?" I asked Krile. She gave me an affirmative snort. "Good. Now, onward!" She started to run. We rode alongside the river, and there wasn't a spinosaurus in sight! Alphinaud hugged my waist for balance, causing me to blush wildly. Thank God he can't see my face. A karkinos was up ahead, but I piloted Krile around it. It didn't even realize we were nearby until we were already out of it's reach. Eventually, I turned the ravager around and we headed back to our base. "The test run went perfectly!" Alphinaud exclaimed, still holding onto me as Krile leaped over a boulder. The behemoth doors came into view, and Krile slowed her pace. We slid off the ravager's saddle and Alphinaud threw open the door. "You good?" He asked as I walked past. "Huh? Yeah of course. Why wouldn't I be?" I replied. "It's just that you look a bit flushed..." he said. "It's just the cold." "Really? It didn't seem that co-" "It's the cold." I cut him off. Alphinaud shrugged. "Ok then. Do you want me to light the campfire?" He asked. I nodded as Papalymo trotted over to Krile, who was asleep. The bulbdog curled up beside her. "That would be nice."
