Chapter 65
"Didn't expect running into you today" he told her grabbing his bags from the carousel.
"You knew I would be back for the trial" she stated matter of factly.
"True, just didn't anticipate landing the same time you did that's all" he replied now grabbing hers.
"Thank you. Where is everyone else, are they coming" she asked taking her bag.
"Adam told me that he and Rob would be in later today, they were actually driving over from Mankato. His family and Chance are already here" he explained.
She smiled, knowing this now gave her a sense of relief that Tim's entire support team would be here for him.
"Any word on when the divorce proceedings are happening " she asked as they walked together towards the exit.
"Actually sometime today. I still can't believe any of this, what they say she's done" he remarked.
"She had us all fooled but my heart breaks for what she put him through the past five years. He didn't deserve that and he sure as hell didn't deserve the beating from her dad" she stated.
"Did you know he asked for leniency at the hearing for her father. He told the judge he held no hard feelings against him for what he'd done, that had it been the other way around he may have reacted the same way. Is that crazy or what" he informed her.
"No, that's Tim. One of the most kind hearted compassionate people I have ever met. He's not vindictive by any means but he won't stand for deceit either and he's had more than his share since knowing her" she replied as they finally reached the exit.
Changing the subject he asked if she would be staying in Marshfield like before which she stated infact she would be. "Care to share a cab? I mean we are both going to the same hotel, no need in each of us paying for a separate ride" he suggested.
Agreeing, he hailed the taxi and placed all their baggage in the trunk. Holding the door, she quickly slid inside across the seat to the other window before he climbed in. Wondering what the next hour long ride would entail he nervously looked out the window silently hoping he wouldn't say something stupid to set off an argument. He'd done alot of thinking since their last encounter, he was trying hard to move on, but it was easier said than done, she was his first true love and that is one part of your life you never, ever forget.

"How did it go, is it over " Emily asked as Tim and Satch reentered the room.
"Papers are signed, just waiting for the judges approval" Tim replied with a sigh.
"Are you okay" Dena asked as Tim sat next to her.
"Yes, Momma, just a bit tired" he replied petting Satch who once again had his head in his lap.
"You should head back and rest. I'm sure you're exhausted from the stress. I remember how emotionally drained I felt at your father's and my divorce proceedings" she stated.
"I'm sorry you had to go through that Momma. I know it wasn't easy for you then and I apologize for subjecting you to mine now. I'm sure its brought back painful memories " Tim told her, taking her hand.
"Oh don't you worry about me, I'm a tough old bird" she laughed "let's get you back to the hotel. Perhaps we could get together later for dinner" she suggested.
"I'd like that" he replied standing to leave.
"Where's Chance, you think he'd like to join us later" Emily asked as they began to walk down the hallway.
"I'm not sure what his plans are, maybe you should contact him" was all he said before excusing himself to use the rest room.
"Well that was an odd response" she whispered to Bobby.
"Em, don't go making assumptions about those two. Just let him be, he's having a rough time as it is, you don't need to add to it, baby" he told her sliding his arm around her waist.
"Oh, I'm not assuming anything" she replied with a slight smirk.

Chance stood looking at the reflection in the bathroom mirror. At that moment he hated the person he saw before him, the person who added to the pain his lover was going through, the person who he felt betrayed him.
The words he'd spoken continued to burn in his throat causing a nauseating feeling deep in his gut. He quickly splashed cold water on his face, feverishly scrubbing the kiss off his lips when the door swung open.
Tim apologized to whomever was standing nearby when he entered until he felt the furry body beside him wiggle excessively. "Chance?" he merely asked.
Wiping his face with the paper towel he looked at the love of his life. Tim looked tired, haggard before him. "Yes" he answered quietly stepping aside, "I'll leave and let you have your privacy".
Tim removed his glasses, he could make out his shadow as he stepped towards the door. He raised his hand to his shoulder, "please don't leave" he told him.
Chance moved to lock the door before turning to face him. "I'm sorry, so very sorry..." he began when Tim pulled him closer.
"Why? You did what you needed to do" he told him sliding his hand along his cheek.
Chance leaned into his hand, the warmth against his face, caused the tears that had welled up in his eyes to now trickle down his cheek.
"I didn't want to say those things, I've hurt you even more" he cried.
"Shhhh...you haven't hurt me. We knew what had to be said and done. Babe, it's ok, please don't cry" he told him as he gently kissed his lips. Chance threw his arms around him, pulling him closer as they deepened their kiss.
After a moment or two Chance leaned back "I love you, don't ever doubt that, please" he told him.
"I know, I love you too..but" Tim stated stepping back.
"But? But what?" Chance asked holding his breath.
"I really need to pee" Tim told him before swinging the stall door open.
