'' Hey! Wait up!'' I yelled, my heeled boots scuffing against the dew-covered grass as I tried to keep up with them.

They never liked me much. But I didn't grow up with many friends.

They were all I had, and at least they let me stick around.

'' Arima! C'mon- Please wait up!''

How was she so fast? Maybe I was just slow. I need to hurry up, they're gonna leave me behind.

I stopped at a fork, scanning the ground for any signs of her footprints.

The ground was muddy, so it was easy to figure out she took a left.

She stopped at a river.

I skid against the mud, coming to a quick stop, but still keeping my balance.

There were an assortment of red flowers around the river, and Arima slowly sat on a stump nearby a few mushrooms.

She had a blank gaze on the other side, watching the deer.

She scoot over, and patted the side of the stump, allowing me to take a seat next to her.

''You like de-'' She held a hand to my mouth, as one of the deer lifted their head up, before running off with their fawn.

" You scared them off." She mumbled to me.

'' Sorry.''

I pulled a candy out of my pocket, handing her one.

She opened hers, the message on the wrapper being a joke.

She softly smiled, popping the hard candy into her mouth.

I scooted a little closer to her, showing the message I got.

' Tell a Friend you care about them!' Was printed on my wrapper, and she shot me a glance before making another soft smile.

Candies were how we communicated, and it just made more sense this way.

Arima pointed to one of the pinetrees, as I squinted to see what she was pointing to.

A Cardinal and Bluejay were at the tree, just one branch away from eachother.

Flora and Fauna were also ways of us communicating, which might have been one of the reasons we met in a forest of all places.

My mother called me to the table, handing me a clipboard.

I glanced at her curiously, taking the clipboard into my small hands.

' Diagnosis :

I could feel my expression shift from curious to confused.

I looked at my mom, and she turned her phone's screen to me.

What used to be a photo of me and Arima, was just..Me.

'' What..But- I can feel she's there, she's not fake-''

My mother waved dismissively at me, and I speedwalked to the door, grabbing my bag before rushing out to the forest.

Arima was at the entry.

She glanced at me, before running in.

I sped behind her, trying to keep up.

She took a right this time.

I'm not supposed to go past the fence.

I need to go past the fence.

I need to catch up before she leaves me behind.

I pushed past the rip in the chained fence, keeping Arima in my sight.

My foot grazed past a beartrap, the slamming of the metal grabbing my attention, letting me know i need to watch my step.

I kept hurrying behind her, the slamming of beartraps unsetting me every time.

I was Terrified, But I needed to keep up.

I need to prove she's real-

I slipped.

Everything went brighter.

We were at the river again.

Arima sat on the stump, a clear spot next to her for me to sit at.

I sat next to her, and she handed me one of the hard candies I gave her earlier.

I took it, and she smiled softly at me.

We opened our wrappers, our messages now matching.

'You found me.'

'I found you.'

The deer trotted closer to the river, taking sips of the freshwater.

We giggled, resting on eachother.

" Eros? Eros?"

The family neared the ledge of the hill, about 3 policemen with them.

The family stepped back, spotting the boy laying beside a gravestone, his back resting on the stump.
