10 - Snow Day

"Oh come on Sammy."

"But Gaabe."

Gabe pouted at Sam. "Why can't I see your paintings?"

Sam avoided eye contact. "They're not that good, really. They're not interesting or anything."

"Don't talk yourself down like that," Gabe said. "Hey, if you show me your paintings, I'll play you a song."

Sam narrowed his eyes. "That's a form of blackmail."

Gabe smirked. "Yep. So, you gonna show me?"

Sam sighed. "Fine." He stood up from where they'd been sitting randomly outside and started leading Gabe to the art building. Gabe followed along cheerfully, linking his hand with Sam's as they walked.

They walked into the building and Sam took Gabe up to the art studios on the top floor, walking into one of the rooms.

"This is the room that's open to everyone," Sam said. "Just because having this stuff all over dorm rooms is annoying."

"I can see that," Gabe said, looking around at all the art supplies and half finished canvases. "People just leave their stuff around?"

"We're all artists here. We don't mess with each others stuff." Sam walked over to a canvas and picked it up, passing it to Gabe. "This is what I just finished."

Gabe looked at the painting with wide eyes. "This is amazing," Gabe said, looking down at the painting of golden wings. Sam blushed.

"It's okay," he muttered.

"No seriously, this is amazing," Gabe said. "How did you do this?"

"I had a bit of inspiration..."

"What was it?"

"..."

"Really, silence, that's not very good inspiration."

Sam rolled his eyes. "It's you, you idiot. Gabriel, angel, I painted your damn wings." Gabe's eyes lit up at that.

"If my wings looked half as good as this," he said, looking at the painting again before putting it carefully back where it had been, while still looking at it. "That really is amazing Sam."

"If you say so," Sam said. "Now. You owe me a song."

"Fine," Gabe said, and they ended up walked back to Gabe's dorm room where Cas was barely even at anymore. Cas had been spending a lot of time with Dean lately.

When they got to the dorm, Gabe grabbed an acoustic guitar from where it was sitting in the corner and sat on the bed.

"What do you want me to play?" Gabe asked as Sam sat down beside him.

"Anything," Sam said. "Can you sing and play at the same time?"

"Sometimes," Gabe said. "Depends on the song." He played a few notes, tuning the guitar slightly. Then he played a few chords before settling into a pattern.

Sam didn't recognize the song, even when Gabe did start to sing it.

Because the author can't be bothered typing out the lyrics, it was Wagon Wheel, which if you've ever heard Richard sing, it's one of the most amazing things.

Sam watched as Gabe played the song, a small smile on his face. Gabe looked completely absorbed into the music and yep Sam was falling in love with him all over again right there.

Gabe finished the song and looked kind of nervously over at Sam. "So...whadya think?"

"You're amazing," Sam said, smiling brightly. Gabe smiled back, the nervousness gone. "Play something else."

Gabe chuckled lightly and started playing another tune, humming along lightly this time.

~~

"I'll be honest, I have no idea what's happening."

"I'm fixing the car Cas."

"Yeah I get that...but how?"

Dean chuckled slightly at Cas who was looking over Dean's shoulder at what he was doing with a confused look.

"I don't think you'll understand it," Dean said. "The author definitely doesn't."

"You'd think she would," Cas said. "What with everyone in her family being some form of mechanic."

Dean just shrugged. "Well, I don't understand all your psychology talk, so I guess that makes us even."

"True," Cas said with a smile. He went and sat back on the bench in the garage. He was hanging out with Dean during work for no particular reason, mainly just to avoid Sam and Gabe who were taking over his dorm room these days. They were cute, but there was a limit.

"So how are feelings going?" Dean asked Cas.

"Still confused," Cas said. "But...it's better than before." Dean smiled brightly at this.

"Good. Because you need to say you love me at some point in life, after you just left me hanging like that."

Cas chuckled. "Can you...say it again?"

Dean smiled. "I'd say it all the time if it wouldn't end up annoying you and other people. Cas I love you."

Cas smiled shyly, a light blush spreading across his cheeks. Dean just chuckled at his reaction, and turned back to the car.

~~

Sam and Gabe were sitting in the dorm room talking when Gabe noticed something out the window.

"Oh my chuck Sammy Sam Samantha look at it," he said, running over to the window.

"What?" Sam asked, walking over more slowly. Then he smiled when he saw what Gabe saw.

It was snowing. Small specks of white snow were falling from the sky and layering onto the ground softly.

Would the author know anything about this? Nope. I wanna see some damn snow.

"Can we go outside Sam Sammy please please please?" Gabe said, jumping up and down on his feet with an expression of childlike excitement. Sam smiled and couldn't help think of five years ago at that.

"Of course," Sam said. Gabe smiled and immediately ran for the door. Sam chuckled and grabbed a scarf and gloves for Gabe so he wouldn't freeze.

When he got outside, Gabe had run into the middle of a previously grassy area and was standing there looking up at the sky, holding his hand out to catch snowflakes.

"You'll freeze like that," Sam said, walking up to him and grabbing Gabe's hands to put the gloves on them. He then wrapped the scarf around Gabe's neck and Gabe was just smiling so happily at him.

"You didn't get yourself a scarf," Gabe pointed out.

Sam paused for a second and then shrugged.

"What no Samsquatch you'll get sick," Gabe said, before unwrapping the scarf and putting it around Sam's neck. Sam pouted at him. "You get the scarf, I get the gloves. That's fair."

"But you're my boyfriend, I'm supposed to make you warm," Sam muttered.

"I know other ways we could do that," Gabe said, winking.

"You're an idiot," Sam said, shaking his head with a smile before leaning down to kiss Gabe under the falling snow.

~~
Dean was driving Cas back to the college when the first snowflakes began to fall. Cas immediately started looking out the window intently and Dean smiled softly over at him.

When they got to the college Cas jumped out of the car and into the falling snow, smiling the way he used to five years ago. He held out his hand and caught a snowflake, and held it up really close to his face to look at it, which was just freaking adorable.

Dean smiled as he walked over to him, putting an arm around Cas's shoulders and leading them in the direction of the dorm room as Cas caught more snowflakes along the way.

"I'm assuming you want to stay out here," Dean said as they got near the dorm room. Sam and Gabe were also outside, mucking around in the snow. Cas nodded, still looking at the snowflakes he caught. Dean smiled and ran over to the dorm room quickly to grab a scarf for Cas so he wouldn't freeze and came back with it. He wrapped it around Cas's neck so it was also covering half his face, just leaving his wide blue eyes exposed.

"Well that's adorable," Dean said and he could tell even with the scarf that Cas was blushing at that. "Wanna make a snow angel?"

Cas nodded and then just kinda flopped onto the ground. Dean chuckled and fell beside him, and so they made snow angels in the snow.

When they stood up, Dean drew a little halo above the one Cas had made and Cas laughed.

"We should have a snowball fight," Cas said with a little mischievous glint in his eye that was more common from Gabriel.

"Oh definitely," Dean said, smirking over at Sam and Gabe in the distance.

~~

Sam and Gabe were just standing there innocently. That's all they were doing. Gabe was not expecting to have a ball of snow hit him right in the face and another one hit Sam in the chest.

They immediately ran for cover behind some trees as more snowballs were thrown at them.

"Oh how dare they," Gabe said, looking out at the laughing Dean and Cas. He crouched down to gather snow into a snowball. "Well, they asked for it." Sam smiled widely and started making snowballs too.

And so began a snowball fight.

Still never had one of these. Sigh.

Gabe and Sam were very competitive people, they quickly got the upper hand on Dean and Cas. And then Michael and Lucifer came from nowhere and started beating everyone.

"I am the king of hell, you can't beat me!" Luci yelled as he managed to hit Gabe square in the chest.

"Yeah well I'm the Trickster!" Gabe yelled back, hitting Luci in the face with a snowball.

"I feel like this could get out of hand," Cas said to Dean. They were now standing off to the side awkwardly because everyone was more competitive than them.

"Yeah maybe," Dean said. "Should we go back inside where it's warm?"

"Definitely," Cas said, and they walked back to the dorm room.

Sam and Michael eventually moved off to the side to watch their boyfriends. Because Gabe and Luci were reeeeaaallly competitive. And slightly murderous.

"We should stop them," Michael said.

"Yeah," Sam said. "How?"

"No idea," Michael said. "If we walk off they'll probably follow us."

"Agreed," Sam said, and the two of them started walking off in opposite directions. Luci and Gabe noticed and Gabe ran after Sam while Luci ran after Michael.

Gabe was shooting evil glares back at Luci as he caught up to Sam who had started laughing.

"Wow that actually worked," Sam said.

"What?" Gabe said. "Oh you totally just planned to end my death match with Luci."

"For exactly that reason," Sam said. "You were going to kill each other."

"It would only be revenge," Gabe muttered and Sam just gave him a confused look. "Nevermind."

"Right," Sam said. "Wanna go get warm and curl up under blankets and watch netflix?"

Gabe smiled brightly and nodded, and they started walking off to warmth.
