James' eyes widened and he stammered, "you... you aren't human?  What are you?"

All of a sudden, Misty crouched down and gray fur sprouted from her skin as her head changed shape, forming a snout as a tail extended from her spine.

"Werewolf," he said, stunned, "you're an actual werewolf."

"Human," Misty spat, sadness obvious even in her dog-like eyes, "and I thought I liked you."

Tears pricked James' eyes and he said softly, "you're still alive... I can't believe you're still alive, I thought all werewolves were dead..."  

he had thought that they were extinct and it must've been evident in his eyes, for soon Misty morphed back into human shape and approached him, "you... you aren't going to hurt me?  Because I'm different?"

James reached out, grabbed Misty's hands, and said fiercely, "I would never hurt hurt you."
