Chapter 2-James
After the sun began to set, James took a walk through the forest near his house, looking for magic and wonder. He had always believed in magic, but he had never found any. He loved hearing his grandmother's stories of dragons, unicorns, and phoenixes that were fought by griffins, sea serpents, and werewolves, and wished he could see one for himself.
A girl who looked around his age burst past him, a grin on her face as she darted around, her blonde hair whipping in the wind.
"Oh!" He exclaimed.
The girl turned and sped towards him, faster than he'd ever seen anyone, "hello! I didn't see you there, who are you?"
"James," he replied, "who are you?"
"Misty," she said, grinning, "I'm surprised I don't know you. What pack are you from?"
James snorted a laugh; this girl was so weird. Packs? What was she talking about?
"Not telling," he teased, booping her on the nose.
Misty's ears pricked up, though to what James could only guess.
"Gotta go; my mom's calling me," Misty said.
"Can we talk again?" James asked; he had very little friends.
"see you at moon-down here?" Misty said.
"Sure?" James said as she sped away. He murmured to himself, "must mean sunrise."
