Three Years

I always dreamed of having someone who'd love me truthfully and honestly, but never did I thought that an extra-ordinary one would come along and change my life drastically. He who loves me more than anything in this whole damned universe, and he who protected me from the shadows for a long time.

..

.

The bird's morning song flitted in my room as the sun's gleam streamed in from the windows. I pushed myself up and stretched my elbows.

"It's morning already huh?" I monologue and pushed the covers off my body. I stalked to my big walk-in wardrobe and fished out a white simple dress that flows all the way down to my knees and a black cardigan. I went in my bathroom and stripped off my night gown and stepped in the shower. After a few moments I went down the staircase with my hair tied in a side ponytail. I caught a whiff of pancakes and orange juice and followed it all the way to the kitchen. Mother has just finished cooking my breakfast and has now laid it on top of the white marble counter. I smiled at her as she met my eyes and smiled.

"Breakfast is ready." she said in a gentle and lively tone.

"Yeah, I know. The delicious scent instantly filled my nostrils." I say back and pulled a chair from the table to sit.

"Oh, of course it must be delicious, after all, it's for my beautiful daughter." she said with a smile and handed me my breakfast.

"No need to lie, Mom. I know I am not that beautiful." I said and digged in my breakfast. She paused and turned to me.

"Never look down on your self again, young lady. You ARE beautiful, everybody sees that." she insisted. I just nodded to stop that discussion that will get us no where. I mean, I may be beautiful but as how I view myself? I am just average, I say. Look at me! I dress plainly, I am not sexy at all, I'm even afraid to expose my curves! I am nothing but a plain and old-fashioned girl. There's no man that would even take a second glance at me.

"By the way, where are you going today? You dressed up." She snapped me out. I turned to her as I plopped my last slice of pancake.

"Nothing special. Just to my favorite spots, I guess?" I answered.

"You know, you could at least tell me these 'favourite spots' of yours, so when something happens I'd know where to find you." She said, exasperated.

"But you know, it won't be my SECRET hideout anymore if you knew, right?" I said with a wink and drank my juice before handling her the plates.

"Thanks for the breakfast! I'll be off then!" I exclaimed and rushed out to the door, taking my hat along with me. I walked down the familiar path that usually takes me there. I watched the trees sway with the wind and listened to the nature's sweet music. I have always loved nature so much. Ever since I was a kid, I would usually spend my day in a forest and do some exploring, or in a flower bed and make flower wreathes. I arrived at the spot I'd usually stop by first- the creek. The sound of the rushing water instantly sent a wave of peace through my system. I closed my eyes and focused on my hearing. The air blowing, the swaying trees, the animal calls, and the bird's songs, truly a magnificent music to listen to. Moments later, while listening in to the sound of nature, a rustle of dried leaves on the ground mixed in. I instantly opened my eyes to find a familiar pair of blue orbs staring into my chocolate ones. A smile found it's way on my face, as the large sized wolf came into full view. It had it's usual sandy fur and white paws, except that it had grown so large for the three years he suddenly disappeared.

"You're back!" I exclaimed as I stood up. It leapt across the creek and to my side like it was nothing and started purring and rubbing his body around me.

"I know, it's good to see you too." I said with a giggle. As intimidating as his height can be, he is as adorable as a young puppy when he does that. He crouched low to my side and nudged me with his snout- a gesture he usually does when he wants me to ride on his back.

"Okay." I agreed and straddled on top of him. He was pretty big so when I hug him, I can't really reach my other arm, but oddly enough, I haven't fell off his back. Not even once.

I leaned on his back when I felt him stand up. He started to run and I could feel the strong wind brush my face as I held my hat in place. The sceneries blurred past us till he finally slowed down and stopped in a hill that overlooked the Downtown where I lived. The smile on my face widened as I hopped off his back and walked close to the edge of the hill and view the spectacle before me carefully.

"It's beautiful." I managed to say despite being overwhelmed with the view. I turned around to thank him but found him curled up on the grass, taking easy and calm breaths. I giggled at the sight of him and walked close. I laid down beside him and used his tummy as pillow.

"I'm really glad I got to see you again. I was really sad and worried when you suddenly disappeared from me 3 years ago." I murmured and snuggled on his comfortable and warm fur. We stayed like that for a while till I didn't notice the sun setting.

"Gosh! It's sunset! I need to go home!" I exclaimed and scrambled up to my feet, dusting off the dirt on my dress. My only bestfriend- the wolf, snapped up on full alert as I disturbed him from his peaceful rest.

"Oh, I am sorry. I need to go home now buddy, Mom's probably worried right now." I carefully explained as I ran my hand on his soft fur on the side of his face. He tilted his head to rub his face on my palm. That sweet and cute gesture made me smile again but as much as I loved to spend time with this cute and harmless yet intimidating creature, I don't want to worry Mom.

"Well then, How about this, You can take me down the hill and towards the creek where you found me and then we'll part." I suggested. He seemed to have liked the idea and wagged his tail. Really, such a cute puppy-like wolf. I reached up and climbed up his back as he took off again. This time, unlike a while ago, he went in a slower pace, but inevitably, no matter how slow he went, we still reached the creek and our parting spot. I climbed down and heard him whimper as I did so.

"Shhh. Please don't do that, we will still see each other tomorrow again, you know? no need to be so sad, okay buddy?" I comforted him.

What am I doing talking to a wolf?

It seemed to have understood me though and bowed it's head. I smiled at him and turned to start my journey back home when he suddenly stepped in front of me. He was one large wolf that easily towers me but I was not in the least afraid of him, instead, I felt perfectly safe around him. He started to rub his body around me and his fur is starting to tickle me.

"Haha, stop that, it's ticklish." I complained between my giggles, but it seems as though it was trying to tease me and started to rub his body on my ticklish spots.

"HAHA, I said stop it! Now I really am gonna be late for dinner and I haven't had my lunch too!" I said and practically rolled to the ground, laughing, when he didn't stop tickling me. Thank Goodness though, he finally let me off the hook and stepped aside, allowing me to regain my composure and breathe.

"I'll really go now buddy. Don't wander too close in the town, okay? They might hunt you." I warned him before I disappeared into the forest's entrance.

..

.

"Mom! I'm Ho--" My voice trailed off as I watched a big wolf nipping on my Mother's throat.

"Run, E-Ella." she managed to warn me before her life was cut with another bite from the wolf that had her neck. The wolf let go of her when he felt the heart of my mother had stopped beating. I bolted out from the door the moment his sharp deadly gaze drifted to me. Foolishly enough, I didn't know why I didn't run towards the streets but instead ran towards the forest.

He might still be there. He can fight a wolf like him, right? He'll be able to protect me, right? Please! Please be there!

It was all I thought at that time and didn't notice the wolf had already caught up with me. His silver fur glistening under the moon's light.

Somebody! Anybody will do!

"HELP ME!!" I screamed to the top of my voice. All of a sudden a wolf was now standing in front of me. His sandy fur swaying with the wind. His once ocean blue eyes turned to pure ebony. His lips peeled up, baring his sharp canines at my pursuer. His loud ferocious growl easily filled the entire forest. I flinched at the volume and pain from the wound I didn't notice the wolf was able to inflict on me. He slightly glanced my way and suddenly started shaking. He snapped his attention back to the now snarling silver wolf. After a few minute of staring war, the silver one suddenly lunged himself towards the sandy one in front of me. I was never able to give him a name since I really didn't know what to call him and besides, I kind of got used to calling him 'buddy'. I gasped and crawled out of the way when my friend wolf kicked the silver one off him and landed a few feet away from him. The silver wolf quickly got up to his feet and peeled his lips up and snarled. He side stepped and my friend mirrored him. Now they're currently mirroring each other's move, waiting for a perfect opportunity to initiate an attack. After another staring contest, the Silver one quickly made his escape and dashed to the forest's entrance. I let go of the breath I never noticed I held in and suddenly felt the pain start to course through my nerves making me flinch and cry a bit. He instantly turned to me and licked my arm, the part where the wound lay, and whimpered a bit.

"I'm fine, Dummy. It's just a slight graze. Thanks for saving my life.. though, if I had just went home sooner then I would have been able to at least... defend my Mother." and with the mention of it, all the tears that I suppressed streamed down like waterfall. I heard whimpering from my side and just noticed my big wolf buddy laying beside me, still licking my wound.

"Thanks a lot, buddy. I would have ceased to exist if you had not been there." I said softly as I ruffled the fur on his head softly. He whimpered more loudly this time after I said that. I cried and cried after that as I curled beside him and didn't notice when sleep decided to blanket me.

I searched and found you, My little mate, It's true.

I intended to protect you, but how I failed? I don't have a clue.

You were hurt so badly, both physically and emotionally,

That rogue will surely pay, I'll find him, someday.

Oh, and please tell me if it's to your liking or not. That's all, Good Evening and Good Night ^_^
