Chapter 10
Logan had been bandaged up, or what they could reach of him had. He had agreed to let his arms and front be fixed but had refused to let the others see or touch his back and legs. He hadn't left his room since but Virgil and Patton checked on him regularly to make sure he was okay. Logan remained within one of three states at this point: unconcious, panicked or numb. All three were bad and each seemed worse than the others. If he was asleep they could check his injuries and care for them but he was a light sleeper so they had to be careful not to wake him and cause him to panic. If he was panicked he was less aware of their actions away from him and he was actually visibly and noticably breathing but he often passed out in this state and caused Thomas heightened anxiety from where he wasn't controlling or containing it. Him being numb was the worst, he was practically entirely unresponsive and didn't react to most stimuli but he could be better cared for in this state and he was easier to look after. Virgil and Patton worried that they would have to do the worst when Logan came out of his room for the first time. He seemed slightly skittish and when he realised where he was he pressed his back against a wall and put his hands over his head in defence. It broke Virgil's heart to see Logan like this but he walked over and sat in front of him, hoping and praying that this would work.
"Logan..?"
"H-huh?! Y-you... please don't-"
"I don't want to hurt you, I will not hurt you Logan. You have my word."
"But... what you said before-"
"I was less wise then, I knew only one perspective. You didn't hurt Roman, for what it's worth, I'd be willing to bet my life on that."
"Not much..." Logan murmured, slightly bitter through his fear.
"Maybe not but I still lo- care about you so much I would fight Roman, Void and Deceit all at once for you."
"Cillian and Damien"
"What?"
"Their names are Cillian and Damien, L'appelle du vide and Deceit are called Cillian and Damien"
"Okay, well, I would fight all three of them simultaneously for you"
"That means a bit more..." Logan offered a half smile from between his bangs and his arms. Virgil extended a hand and Logan took it hesitantly and he let Virgil pull him up off the floor. The more timid side was cuddled into the other's chest and relaxed until Virgil pressed his hand against his spine. Logan yelped and pulled away from the other's embrace, hugging himself gently because he couldn't really put his hands protectively over his back. Virgil gasped and put out his hand for Logan, muttering gentle apologies and promises to do better.
"I'm so sorry Logan, I forgot. I won't do it again, please calm down. Look, would it make you feel better if you hugged me?" He didn't want to rush Logan but he did feel a little panicked. Logan looked up hesitantly but relaxed and nodded, rushing into the others arms and crying a little. Virgil sighed and let himself fall onto the sofa, running his hand across Logan's head.
"Logan... would you like me to put my hand around the back of your neck? I don't want to put any pressure on your back but it's been a little while and you don't seem to have any pain on your front, would you let me look at least?"
"Okay... I guess I can show you, in your room though, Patton would fuss over me to no end and I can trust you not to."
"Okay, let's go then." Virgil stood, gently supporting Logan. They made their way to Virgil's room in a slow, gentle walk. Logan didn't look prepared and Virgil insisted that if he wasn't ready he didn't have to agree to this, that it could be left for a different time. Logan denied every offer to just put this aside as he gathered up a first aid kid, insisting that Virgil would want it, took off his jacket, a hesitant and slow movement. They both sighed but Logan sighed louder , a bitter expression on his face, tears streaming as he grabbed at the hem of his black shirt. Virgil waited with baited breath, he didn't know why he was so tense about this, nothing could be worse than what he'd seen of his front. Logan tossed the shirt on the floor and sucked in a deep breath, from the pain of his movement and from the anticipation of pain from Virgil's hurried actions. Virgil was so wrong about what he thought he would see, So very wrong...
