Chapter 5
JASMIN
Where am I?
Jasmin looked around. Her remaining arm was chained to the wall, and her tail-barb was encased in thick iron. Three of the walls were stone, but the one she was facing was made of rusty metal bars.
I'm back, She realized faintly. I'm back in Wasp's dungeon.
She felt a strong iron muzzle wrapped around her snout tightly.
And the only different thing is that I can't use my venom to escape.
VISIONER
I should see if Jasmin's alright, Visioner thought. But then again...she's there.
He sighed. I'll just avoid her, He decided. I'll visit Jasmin right after Astronomy.
Visioner fiddled with the edge of the scroll, letting Sunny's voice lapse into the humming background behind his thoughts.
Visioner peeked inside the healing center. It was almost empty, except for two beds. A small IceWing with feathery gray patterns on her scales was curled up on one, her eyes closed.
Good. She's asleep.
Visioner limped inside, shivering at the stillness.
The other bed was at the furthest corner, holding a scrawny, purple-themed dragon. Bandages covered almost every part of her scales, red blood seeping through the white coverings. Ermine and Seagull, a SeaWing healer, were watching her.
"Will she be okay?" Visioner asked, approaching them. He winced inwardly at the limp, broken, fragile form of his self-defense teacher.
"She's still unconscious." Seagull's eyebrows were furrowed in worry. "Her wounds are severe and poisonous. She's a strong dragon, though. There's a high chance that she'll survive."
Visioner nodded, and jumped back as Jasmin suddenly jerked. Her eyes were still closed.
"Mmhmh." Visioner realized that she was speaking as if her mouth was bound shut. "Mnmmnng."
A soft whimper came from her closed mouth.
"Why's she doing that?" Visioner whispered. "What happened?"
"We have no idea." Ermine's gruff voice made him startle. "She started doing that a few hours ago."
"Nightmares," Visioner murmured. "I wonder what they're about?"
Ermine shrugged unhelpfully.
Three loud rings of a gong made him realize that he was still at school.
"Could you tell me when she wakes up?" Visioner asked.
"Sure!" Seagull grinned. "I hope it's soon."
Visioner waved them goodbye and started making his way outside.
"I'm leaving." He stopped.
"I'm leaving," Mink repeated. "I'm leaving this school. I'm going back to the Ice Kingdom. Figure out who's the murderer yourself- though I already gave you a big suspect."
"It's not her," Visioner growled. "And I'm glad to see you leave."
He whisked out of the healing center, ignoring Mink's suddenly desperate call.
He didn't need anymore regrets.
