Chapter 8: Mameko Targeted
"We just need to catch her out of the U.A. grounds. A bit farther from the facility would be nice."
"How are we going to accomplish that? She's in the dorms or the school all the time, and is being monitored by those Japanese pro-heroes twenty-four hours a day."
A fair young man with blond hair, sunglasses, and headphones on his ears, grinned at his interlocutor - a middle-aged masked man:
"On Sunday, Shon. I know Momo - she'll stroll out of the school grounds to go sight-seeing. It is Japan - one of her favourite countries!"
"Hmm, I hope you're right..." Shon, the middle-aged man, shrugged. "You know this is a serious mission, Luca. We shouldn't blow it."
"I've never blown anything I was assigned with!" Luca, the blond guy, snarled. "Just stick to the plan, Shon. I know it'll work out."
Thus having discussed the matters, the two Georgian pro-heroes hid back in the shades, contemplating the U.A. school building from the outside.

"Sunday! Hurrah!"
Momo Mameko ran down the stairs and was about to cross the common hall and dart out of the dorm building when Ochako's voice stopped her:
"Hey, Mameko-chan, where are you going?"
"I've got a meeting with my Japanese friend. I'll be back in the evening!"
"Oh, okay!" Ochako blinked in surprise - her Japanese friend?
"Be careful, Mameko-san, not all places are safe!" Izuku cried from behind.
"No worries, I've got my phone to navigate!"
Thus, Mameko warned her teachers she needed a day-out in order to meet up with her friend (who actually happened to be her editor) and took a train to the center of the city.
Of course, the two secret agents hiding near the school building immediately went after her once they noticed that she had come out.

"So, you think I need to fix this sentence here?"
"It's just... It gives a different feeling in Japanese, you know? What you've intended can be better expressed this way."
"Alright then. How about the overall plot? Is it a good continuation so far?"
"How can I tell you if you haven't finished the entire plot yet?"
"Ugh, come on, Ikemoto-san, I'm asking about what I've already written!"
Mameko laughed. Her editor Hiro Ikemoto - a twenty-six-year-old blue-haired man with glasses - chuckled too. His quirk was the Keen Eye. Once activated, it permitted him to spot every minor detail in anything he observed. Hence, it came in handy in his editing profession.
"I think it's good so far. Your idea of putting a worthy opponent for Bombarder in this new book is fascinating. Furthermore, Electra happens to be his total opposite - a villain in a hero's costume, who acts on her selfish purposes and masks it all with her heroic reputation. I also liked the sidekick you've planned to add for Bombarder. He's already made his appearance in chapter 5 of your new manuscript, and I'm thrilled to know how it'll go."
"I know, right? I'm going to make Blue Flame a dazzling villain!" Mameko's eyes brightened once she heard her editor's appraisal. "To be honest, I've received inspiration from that guy who's on the Japanese news quite frequently lately... That League of Villains member, you know?"
"Ah, yeah..." Ikemoto understood. "For inspiration, it's good enough. That's why 'Blue Flame', right? You liked his quirk that much?"
"Yeah, burning flames of the inferno!"
Mameko grinned with vicious triumph, startling Ikemoto quite a bit. The young man chuckled since he knew his little colleague only used this kind of an "evil laugh" for humour purposes.
"Anyway, Mameko-chan, I'll be waiting for your next drafts. Send me Chapter 8 once you're done, alright? We'll go over it together through Skype. Once ten chapters are done, we'll set up another meeting, as decided."
"Alright! See you later, Ikemoto-san! Thanks a lot for everything!"
"Hehe, you're welcome. Thanks for the amazing work! Goodbye!"
"Goodbye!"
Mameko placed her manuscripts back into her school-bag and walked out of the editorial office. She took a train and soon left the district. She reached a certain station and descended the train. Instead, she headed to a bus station to take a bus back to the U.A.
She felt an ominous presence and halted. It was as if someone had been following her... She looked back, to widen her eyes in fright - there were a familiar blond boy and a masked man in the street, right behind her.
Oh no...
"Long time no see, Mameko!" Luca, for he happened to be that exact blond boy, grinned. "Enjoying Japan?"
Mameko furrowed her brow:
"Get back or I'll call the police!"
"Huh? What can the police do? We're pro-heroes with licences!" Luca laughed, waving his hero licence before her eyes. "We've done nothing suspicious to be apprehended."
"W... What are you doing here?"
"We have the orders from our government," - a hideous smile covered Shon's face, - "to end Crimson Bombarder's Legacy."
Luca clenched his fist which buzzed with electricity. Noticing they were serious, Momo shuddered and took a step back. She grabbed the mobile phone out of her pocket, with the intention to call not the police but her hero friends. To her complete horror, the phone battery was dead.
"Your time is up, Mameko!"
Luca charged at her. Momo screamed in fright and rushed off into a nearby alley, into even quieter districts whence there was no way back. Luca and Shon pursued her, for it was a profitable situation for them - the darker and quieter the area, the easier it would be to dispose of her.
Mameko activated Impact in her heels and bounced off as fast as she could. She barely breathed, for she wasn't concentrated in all this mess and her quirk drained more energy from her than it used to when she was calm. She swerved into places without thinking and ended up going deeper and deeper into dark, damp alleys. In a few moments, Luca and Shon, who were more observant, could notice blood sprinkles in some corners of these forgotten areas. Surely they had invaded some outlaw territories of the city.
"Stop, you midget!"
Luca sent a lightning charge at Mameko from behind. Mameko barely managed to deflect the attack with her hand and fell to the floor, injured. Nevertheless, she sprang up and continued running. She didn't use her quirk anymore - she had no strength left. Shon and Luca were catching up with her since, without her quirk, her pace had slowed down.
"Leave me alone!"
Mameko screamed and swirled into an even darker alley. She looked back to check on her pursuers. Terrified by the hideous view of Luca charged up with electric energy and Shon grown heavier with his stone skin, she failed to look forward and bumped into someone.
The fallen Mameko rubbed her aching head and looked up, to freeze in an even greater dread - before her, stood a young black-haired man burnt all over his body, dressed in blackened clothes, with his blue eyes twinkling like infernal flames! At once, she recognized her source of inspiration: the guy with blue flames from the League of Villains - Dabi.
