Wind
The wind was howling and the wind was pouring, but she didn't care. She had to get to the other side.
"I'm almost there!"
It was a lie, they weren't waiting for her. If you could call it that. Her mother just wanted her to be safe when they were about to cross over into hell. But she's not scared of death or anything like that. Not anymore. There is nothing worse than facing death with your loved ones still on earth, and now she can finally go back to them.
But this time, she would do it alone. It was a promise.
Her foot slipped in the slippery mud. She fell face first in a puddle as she tried to keep hold of her umbrella handle. It flew out of her hands and slid towards the watery abyss below.
She cried out. The sound echoes through the empty, silent forest.
No response. No answer.
She scrambled to find her lost object and stood up. She couldn't even see her fallen item.
"Where are you? Please tell me I'm not too late." She began walking in the direction she thought her umbrella was going.
The woods suddenly became very quiet and then, all of a sudden, something grabs her wrist, stopping her from moving.
She screamed and tried to pull away, but the grip on her wrist only tightened.
"Let go of me!"
She kicked at whatever it was holding onto her arm, but it only tightened its grip.
Rhe creature held onto her so tightly, she couldn't move.
She started breathing heavily and stared up into the sky trying to see if anyone could help her. There was no sign of anyone near her. She wasn' t alone. She felt tears threatening to fall from her eyes and her throat constricting.
"Please... please don't! I-"
Her vision went dark and all sensation left her body.
Everything went black, the girl had passed out.
Everything hurt. Everything hurt so much. Where was she?
What happened? How did she end up here?!
She sat up and immediately regrets it. Her head felt heavy, and everything was spinning around.
She felt herself slipping again until someone catches her by her upper arms.
She gasped, startled. She knew that voice, that touch. It was him, but he wasn't supposed to be there right now!
"Breathe." He commanded. He looked worried. Why were they in a forest of all places?
She tried, though her lungs wouldn't work properly. "Wake up..." He whispered, still holding onto her, and slowly he lifted one of her arm so she could rest against his chest instead of having to hold onto him. She heard something crack. He winced, but made no move away from her. That's when it hit her.
They were trapped in the storm.
She knew it would be a long time until they got back. The storm could be worse than it was right now or worse yet, they could get caught in the storm and have to live out their days in the rain.
It was a miracle that any of them were still alive at all. They were lucky when her father found them. He must have sensed that something wasn't right because he started walking towards the town.
"How long is it gonna rain?" The girl groaned wearily while one of them caught the eye of the storm.
"Not much longer."
"I hope so. We have to make it to the other side."
