The lake without water
Mystery
A house.
A lake without water.
And two looks.
I woke up in an abandoned house. The place looked like it hasn't been cleaned in years. Coats of dust were on the tabletops and drawers, cobwebs were almost at every corner. I opened the thin curtain that surrounded the bed where I was resting and stood on the creaky floorboards. The rackety floor boards had holes, some small, and some that you could see the dirt. I walked out of the bedroom and I could see that the living room looked even more abandoned than the bedroom. Windows were barricaded shut, and the ceiling fan was littered with dust, the table unrecognizable as it looked like it had been consumed by termites ages ago and the moldy couch in disrepair. I opened the creaky doorknob though I had to shake it open.
To my left, there was an empty lake and in the middle of the lake there was a hooded man in the center. I looked closer and there where bones protruding out. I saw him kneel to the ground and grabbed a handful of the acrid dirt as it slipped through his fingers while he stood up.
I came closer to see what he was doing when he grabbed a shiny fragment that came out of the bone marrow on one of the corpses. When I saw his emerald green eyes look at me I felt a chill down my spine. His scarred face glared at me before he bolted out of the dry lake, and in less than 2 seconds he stood in front of me, yanking the collar of my pijamas as he glared at me violently.
"What. Did you. Do?" He gritted his teeth, growling. "Answer me!"
What did I? What was he talking about?
"Who are you? Let me go!" I tried to break out of his vice grip but he wouldn't let go.
"Don't lie Hydra! I found this fragment! You used it on your victims to eliminate them. You bleached them down to the bone!"
