Together We Dream. Together We Achieve.
Another month just passed by so swiftly and now, our schedules were becoming more crucial than ever. Raj ji and I had to manage work, studies, health and family time. Both our entrances were nearing and we had to be extra careful and cautious about things.
I was in the middle of my second trimester and my baby bump started becoming more visible than ever. My body was changing, and so was my mindset. I felt moody at times and then there were times where I just want to be around my husband.
I personally asked the doctor and she said that it was all perfectly normal. Ma ji, now has become more supportive than ever. All she worries is whether the academics is stressing me and the baby out or are we fine.
When Raj ji and me proposed of him also getting an MBA, she was at first, very sceptical about the whole thing. Both her son and daughter-in-law writing exams and going back to college, how will we be able to handle, especially, with the burdens of parenthood round the corner.
That's when Raj ji explained about how in MBA he is accustomed to do internships and having a shop of his own would definitely help him to do well and this was just one year of academic struggle and after that he'd be rewarded with a good job or else, he could discuss with high profile experienced people and brainstorm for new ideas on how to expand the current business.
This would aid the whole family financially and also, he said that he would want to be a great role model to his son/daughter.
Ma ji took a few days to be convinced but she also understood that great things can be achieved only if they are dreamt first.
This filled our hearts with ecstatic joy. She also said that she'd help around as much as possible. That certainly was an emotional day for the whole family.
Soon, our room was filled with just 3 things:
Books
Rough Sheets
Medicines
It was yet another afternoon where I sat with my husband in my room, taking yet another practice test. Suddenly, I felt a bit of uneasiness, a sharp pain, or I would say, a movement!
My baby had just kicked!
"Ji?"
I called my husband with a sharp voice. It did sound more like a yelp to me.
"What happened? Is everything alright?"
He just sprinted towards my direction.
I pulled his palm and placed it on my tummy. He waited patiently until it happened again!
I could feel Raj ji other arm clutching my shank tightly as a small drop of tear slipped out of his eyes.
"That's our baby", he barely whispered.
"I know", I whispered back at him.
We could however hear loud footsteps approaching our room.
It was a worried Ma and Rekha.
"Kya hua Bahu?"
"Bhabhi, should I call the doctor? Is everything alright?"
"Yes...", I smiled and asked them to come over and feel what Raj ji and me just felt.
A cloak of happiness just surrounded all of us as I could literally see that the joy could not be contained within ourselves.
"For a doctor mother, an entrepreneur father and am engineer aunt, I think I might have a boxer niece or nephew!"
We all just laughed.
Boxer, huh?
Ok, wait a minute!
Did Rekha just say, 'an engineer aunt'?
I sharply looked at her.
"Rekha, is this true?"
Ma ji and my husband still quite didn't catch what I was referring to.
She blushed and nodded.
" I just got the results a few minutes ago Bhabhi."
She looked at Ma and then swallowed and said,
" I've got a full scholarship from the top university of our state Bhabhi. My friend Sushant is also joining there.
We'll be taking up Bachelor's in Computer Science and Engineering, Bhabhi!"
"Oh wow, this is great news Rekha! Heartiest congratulations!"
Ma also looked very happy. Tears streamed through her eyes. Her little girl is growing up and is now is at an age where she'd be off to college.
She hugged her and then, pulled me and Raj ji also into a very big hug.
"May all my kids be very happy. Kisi ki nazar na lag jaaye", Ma ji heartfully said.
Even before we could respond, Ma ji sprinted up from the bed and said, "All of you stay here, let me prepare kheer and feed you all! This is a great news!"
Once again, even before we could reply, Ma ji set herself back to the kitchen.
"Congratulations kiddo!" Bhai said.
"Thank you so much Bhai."
I somehow felt Rekha wanted to talk to me personally and so, I asked Raj ji to go to the shop and bring some books for me to take notes and revise.
"Rekha, what's on your mind dear?"
"Bhabhi, none of this would have been possible without your help.
Actually Sushant and me had gotten seats in other Universities, headquartered in different states. But I strictly told him that I wanted to stay close with our family, and it would be of great help to you, in the tuition centre and at home with the baby.
Sushant was totally understanding and he also enrolled for the same course in this university. If it weren't for your advice Bhabhi-"
"Shh-", I stopped her in between.
"I did nothing my dear, infact I should thank you for thinking so much about our family and this child. Your brother would be very proud of the decision that you've taken and one day, when Ma ji also knows about the whole story, she too will be.
Congratulations my dear. I am so proud of you and so is your nephew/niece!", I winked at her.
"Thanks a lot Bhabhi."
"After all, together we dreamt this all, and we'll all be off to colleges, together. And definitely there will come a day, where we will achieve greatness, drawing strength from this togetherness!"
"That is true, Bhabhi!"
"And also a lot of 'together'", I joked.
On that note, both of us shared a quirky laugh while I could feel my little boxer throwing another famous kick!
