"Is it possible to fall so hard for someone
who's not even yours to keep?"

"You are unbelievable."
"Thanks, I get that a lot."
Taehyung looked elsewhere as they both comfortably sat on the couch. Her sister had a hard expression while Taehyung was sweating profusely. He was only counting seconds until his sister lashes out on him and wakes up the entire complex.
"So you're saying that, an unknown girl wearing a hanbok, is currently sleeping in your apartment and you don't even have an idea about who she is or where she has come from?" She summarised the whole incident in just a few sentences which somehow made Taehyung feel stupid.
"Ye—Yeah,"
"Kim Taehyung." She sternly interrupted.
"Yes?" His voice was high-pitched, too scared to talk properly.
"What the actual heck? You can't just take someone inside your apartment like that! There should probably be millions of people just waiting for their turn if you announce this publicly. Like, ugh, you're so stupid. I wonder how are we even siblings?" His sister rambled about and Taehyung did his best in ignoring those direct jabs at his little heart by keeping a smiley stance.
"I—I mean, it was a thunderstorm outside and she was shivering pretty badly." He tried to reason with her but only got a nonchalant look in response. His sister sighed at her brother and ruffled her slightly wet hair to dry it more quicker.
"But still Tae, you don't have a proper validation of who she might be. Maybe she is an assassin in disguise or a burglar. Now even females are involved in this buisness, lord where has the humanity gone?"
Taehyung gulped, his Adam's apple bobbing up and down as he realised his actions. He just wanted to be nice but he knew his 'nice' committed suicide when he raised his voice at her. Men shouldn't raise their voice at women no matter how angry they are and Taehyung just did the society that disgrace.
"I'll let her out in the morning." He provided another answer which got him a eye roll.
"I won't be at your funeral if you die tonight," She got up from the couch and stretched her limbs before grabbing the bag she brought with her containing her clothes, "I'll take your room and you take the couch. You owe me a dinner because I'm sure as hell no one would come to help their stupid brother when it's raning shits and dogs."
Taehyung mimicked her voice in an overly accentuated voice which got him a flying slipper thrown his way from the room. He giggled and walked to his room to get blankets and pillows (because one pillow isn't enough for him). Her sister was in the other room, doing God knows what to the girl. His strong assumption was that she was probably performing a satanic ritual for the devil to come after his soul.
He adjusted the pillow and fluffed it up a bit before finally resting his head in it. He pulled the blankets up and snuggled into it before his hand tiredly reached for the remote to dim the lights. The little modern chandelier looking thing above him dimmed a little and only emitted a gentle warm glow while his surroundings were pitch black.
The faint drumming of the rain along with the light unnoticeable ticking of the gigantic clock in his living room were just like a lullaby that eventually lulled him into the dreamland. His eyes fluttered close and the last thing he saw before drifting off was the blurry image of the moon outside his window.
To say, Taehyung got the best sleep in his life in that couch.

Morning arrived and the lights screamed at Taehyung's eyelids which led him to eventually crack them open. His whole body was sore even if he felt quite fresh. He couldn't feel one of his legs as it was dangling off the couch the whole time and there was an excruciating pain in the area of his shoulder blade. His face felt like it was rubbed aggressively on a grater because of the pricking sensation of the coarse fibre of the couch.
A deep yawn cut through the silence as Taehyung cracked his knuckles and twisted and turned his head around. A sound of satisfaction escaped his lips when he heard the bones of his spine and pelvic bone crackling when he stood up and stretched his stiff limbs a bit.
He walked into his kitchen to grab a glass of water when his gaze stopped on a sticky note stuck on his fridge. The neat and familiar handwriting made Taehyung roll his eyes as he advanced towards it before picking it up.
Dressed her and made breakfast for the both of you. It's in the refrigerator, heat it up before you eat and don't forget to report this to Joon later!
With all due respect, I hate you
Your splendacious sister <3
His eyes danced between the words as he let the words sink in into his mind. Just as he was about to sigh, an ear-splitting shriek resonated through the vacant house. Startled, he turned around to find the door of the guest room, shaking vigorously. Approaching the door cautiously, Taehyung placed his firm grip on the one side and pressed the door open with a click.
Out came a lady tumbling and stumbling over her own feet which caused her to fall flat on the ground. Taehyung was too stunned to speak, the shock was evident in his expressions at the incident that occured just now. He just blinked innocently at the lady who had now leaned against the back of the couch, rubbing her red nose.
Taehyung made no effort to help her as the lady got up with the support of the floor and dusted off her clothes. She rubbed her butt with a scowl and eradicated all strands of hair away from her face. Till now, she hadn't noticed the presence of another human in the room and went about soothing the throbbing pain in her nose and butt.
"Are you okay?"
Taehyung finally initiated a conversation which caused her to jolt in surprise. She was ogling at him like he was some kind of an alien of having asked such bizarre question to her.
"I'm perfectly fine," She pursued her lips in a thin line, "Where is my hanbok?" She straight-out shot the question at him which caught him by surprise. Taehyung blinked at her stupidly until the question sat in his mind along with the numerous wrong implications she might have been making against him, "These..." the lady gingerly touched the fabric of her t-shirt with distaste, "....clothes, are a bit uncomfortable, you see."
"You-Your clothes are out in the sun drying! My sister changed your clothes if you're wondering about that!" Taehyung didn't mean to stammer and give her more wrong ideas about him but the sudden panic caused his voice to disrupt like that.
Her posture didn't relax, as if she wasn't yet convinced at his broken explanation to defend himself.
"How did I end up here? I am sure I left this place last night. Then, how did I return back here?" She diverted the topic away from the previous question and Taehyung found himself sweating more and more. He should've been prepared a valid reason beforehand so he wouldn't have to face this situation.
"I...uh...kind of took you back in as the rain was roaring all night yesterday." He spoke the truth and saw her features easing a bit before hardening once again. Her eyes averted from his face and onto her surroundings. She tried to keep it subtle but Taehyung noticed how her curious gaze discreetly moved around his whole house, as if drinking all of the details in slowly.
With a soft and apologetic smile, Taehyung suggested,
"Are you hungry?"

Only one pair of cutlery clinked in the dining room. Taehyung was devouring his pancakes like a mad yet sophisticated gorilla while the pancakes of the lady remained untouched. She stared at her share of pancakes like it was dog turd, Taehyung obviously noticed this and slowed down a bit as he finally gulped the bolus down his throat.
"Why aren't you eating?"
The lady seemed to snap out of the trance she was put in. Looking up in a daze, she glanced at her plate and back at the perplexed expression on his defined features. She hesitantly answered him because she thought that her query would be too humiliating for a Princess. A commoner was enjoying his food but she didn't even know what it was. How strange.
"What is this?" Her poised tone didn't falter, too determined to keep her head held up high despite the silly question.
Taehyung's eyebrow arched at the question. He certainly didn't expect her to ask him this dumb thing which again brought him back to his initial inquiry, is she mentally stable?
Sensing the change in emotions of the man in front of him, the lady moved in discomfort as she fiddled with her fingers underneath the table while having a stone-hard look on her face which helped her to mask her bafflement.
"They're pancakes." He answered, confused.
"Oh I know, I was just...testing your knowledge." She answered with a convincing tone as she reluctantly picked up the cutlery that was too foreign to her. Her hands shook as the cutlery neared the ceramic plate. She was unsure of her actions and to not look stupid, she tried to imitate Taehyung's actions from examining him earlier.
Taehyung looked at her pathetic attempts to cut the pancakes. Her hands were fumbling with the knife and the fork as she desperately tried to pierce the metal through the sponge but her wrist always turned in an abnormal angle.
"I...uh," He interrupted to which the lady stopped and looked up to meet his apologetic gaze. He was feeling sorry for the pancakes because they were being brutally stabbed by her and Taehyung couldn't stand the food abuse.
"Let me help you." He offered and before she could protest, Taehyung grabbed her plate and brought it towards him. He neatly cut the pancakes into regular pieces and made sure the maple syrup was spread evenly among all. The lady was stumped when the plate was offered back to her with precisely cut pieces. She couldn't even let the embarrassment flow in because Taehyung initiated a conversation before that.
"I believe we haven't been properly introduced yet, so let's start from the beginning. Hi, I'm Kim Taehyung and I like pandas." He smiled but the emotions weren't reciprocated. The lady still looked at him if he was a floating cow wearing sunglasses.
"Change your tone, your disrespecting me."
Silence engulfed the whole room as Taehyung's forced smile was faltering bit by bit. He was about to scoff and shoot back but he decided against it, it's better to have the stranger keep a decent first impression of him.
Clenching his jaw, Taehyung glanced sideways before he abruptly pushed the chair back and stood up. He then walked over to her side and kneeled down with his one palm on top of another just in front of his bowing head, "My sincere apologies Your Highness, let me introduce myself again. Greetings Your Highness, I'm the handsome commoner in your kingdom, Kim Taehyung." He smiled sarcastically and sat back in his chair but he couldn't help but get dumbstruck by the satisfied look on her face.
"That's better, though the narcissism is still evident in your words." She told him while putting a piece in her mouth, this time with ease because there was no knife to handle.
Taehyung didn't let her words stab him and proceeded with his aim, "So are you gonna introduce yourself or what? Because I think that I am able to charge you for trespassing my area. So it's better to reveal your identity then say that in front of the cops."
"I am going to behead you for providing me with this amount of disrespect rather than hospitality."
Taehyung had enough. His fork could've literally bent if he had applied more force than he's applying right now. He looked up to see her calmly chugging down the pieces as if she hadn't just spat out the most infuriating thing. It's true indeed, humanity had committed suicide way too long ago.
Just as Taehyung was about to retort something back, the door of his house opened causing silence to fall upon them. He craned his neck towards the pathway that connected the main door to the living room which overlooked the kitchen. Neat clicks of heels resounded in the whole house as the figure revealed herself.
She was a woman in her mid-twenties. Extensions hung on her chocolate brown hair as they swayed with her movement. Her skin had a yellowish-honey coloured tint to it and her facial features were well-defined and sharp. Hooded parallelogram eyes adorned her face along with a pair of chili-red lips. Her physique was tall and petite.
The woman pushed her sunglasses up into her hair and dropped the shopping bags on the living room carpet. She then raised her eyebrows at the duo peacefully having their breakfast with no commotion.
"Uh, hey." Taehyung gulped.
"Tell me why don't you act this civilised when we are having breakfast?"
