"As much as I want to deny it,

I couldn't help but feel drawn to you."

· ————— · · 『• ⚜️ •』· · ————— ·

Headlights shone over the glass as the man underneath it grunted in annoyance. Knuckles turning white, he gripped on the steering wheel a little too hard. His lips were twisted into a scowl as his minds keep on drifting back to the incident happened in evening just before him leaving.

Taehyung gritted his teeth as the previous events rolled into his mind like a broken casette on repeat. He repeatedly cursed them mentally because it would be such a dishonour if people came to know about that the Kim Taehyung cussed.

"How could he? How could he raise his voice just because I'm his subordinate?!"

But alas! There was no one beside him to listen to his rants thus sending him back to the same old never-ending spiralling paradox of self destruction and demoralisation.

He wanted to thrash around the place, maybe even drink a little bit he knew his family won't be happy hearing that he drank his anger away. They believed that drinking your pain away will only make it worse. It will subside for a while and you will most likely forget about it but it still remains within you and will only resurface as a bulk when needed.

So no, drinking was out of question.

But, he let his attention avert for a while and saw a pair of flashing blind lights advancing towards him with immense speed. The horn was blaring through his eardrums as Taehyung's hand froze on the steering wheel, too stupefied to comprehend the situation.

When his neurons started working after coming from a millisecond of shock, Taehyung swiveled the wheel towards the left as much as he could but he was too late. The vehicle was about to crash into him and Taehyung had prepared to bid the world goodbye when he heard a familiar sound and everything stopped around him.

Tick, tick, tick

The same ticking of the clock, the continuous pattern that is enough to put someone in a trance if heard for a long period of time. He felt himself clutching his steering wheel as if his life depended on it, indeed. His ragged breathing was all he heard in the defeaning silence as sweat beads rolled down from his forehead and collected in his eyebrows. His heart was thumping so loudly that he was afraid that it would break out of his ribcage.

He slowly let his gaze wander around and saw that time had stopped. Quite a bizzare thing to say when you're almost at the brink of death but then the ghost of Stephen Hawking had taken pity on you and miraculously saved you.

Tick, tick, tick

There was it again, the same ticking which weirded Taehyung everytime. He was even doubting that if he was mentally stable or not.

Fortunately, Taehyung had driven his car to the other side in that nook of time because he heard the horn going off in the distance without a clash. He heaved a sigh of relief and couldn't help but feel a little terrified of the instance occuring before.

Time had literally stopped. Literally.

He refused to believe it but if that wasn't the reason then he would have been torn to shreds by now and soaked in his own blood. And Taehyung didn't want that, nor did anyone.

"I must be going nuts. I mustn't tell anyone about this." He gulped and saw outside his window to check if anyone saw this. It would not been helpful to him if he's suddenly called to the police station to explain why his car disappeared for a moment before reappearing at a different place, all witnessed by the CCTVs.

Swearing under his breath, Taehyung drove into his apartment complex. He parked it in the parking lot under the building and got out of it and pressed the 'lock' icon on the keys of his car. The car beeped twice as Taehyung sauntered into the basement elevator and pressed the 23rd floor.

The music began to waft into the comfortable silence but then it stopped on the 13th floor. He fluttered his eyes close and exhaled heavily in annoyance as the robotic voice in the elevator informs that the door is opening.

He waited and waited but found nothing. He opened his eyes to find no one in sight. Literally, no one. The whole lobby was deserted and not a soul was to be seen anywhere. To say, Taehyung was a little creeped out by that. It was dead in the night and the lights of the lobby were switched off which never occurred in his apartment. Even if electricity went, the generators quickly took its position so he didn't even notice it but this scared him a bit.

The desolate and dark hallway seemed to haunt his eyes for a while when the same robotic voice informed that the doors would be closing now. Taehyung sighed when the vision of the lobby faded away from his sight. He was feeling lonely but he definitely felt someone's company.

"Kids."

Huffing, Taehyung took the hold of his office bag and rushed out of the elevator when the doors opened. The open windows on the either side of the lobby were letting cold air come in which made Taehyung slightly more scared than he should be. In panic, he fumbled with the numbers and the door finally opened with a creak.

He quickly got into his apartment without sparing the corridor a second glance.

Taehyung shut the door close with a loud slam and he let his hand linger on the door handle for a while before he trudged to his living room and carelessly threw his bag on the couch and rubbed his face and ruffled up his hair.

But when he opened his eyes, he felt his heart drop to his knees.

His jaw was barely hanging and eyes bigger than saucers. It was like he had been sucked out of life and his face grew visibly pale. He almost had an accident just now and now facing this issue is too much for his already weakened heart.

There was a lady, a freaking lady, clad in the dampened vibrant hues of the old traditional dress of Korea, a hanbok.

She was horribly drenched, from head to toe, and her complexion was even paler than the moon itself. Clothes were in a an even darker shade as it was whiplashed with water and her hair bun was lopsided. She innocently blinked her eyes at him as she sat perched on his fur rug.

Shock was printed on both of their faces as they took in the sight of each other before Taehyung finally raised his finger and broke the silence with an accusatory tone.

"Who are you?! And what are you doing in my house!? Where did you come from?! How did you get in!?" She remained stationary at all those question thrown at her as she watched Taehyung go through a mental breakdown in front of her eyes to which she just blinked in response.

Grunting, Taehyung looked over to her in anger, "Can't you speak?! Who are you!?"

For the first time they met, she finally showed him a reaction which relieved him to see that she was indeed not deaf or dumb.

Her thin eyebrows knitted together as they formed a V-line shape on her face. A tiny frown was playing on her lips as she squinted her eyes at him.

"You can't speak to the Princess like that. It's utterly disrespectful and I shall inform the King to behead you for this kind of treatment to his daughter." Her dulcet and calm tone made Taehyung rage even more.

"You?! You have the audacity to order me around, in my house?! Listen lady, in this corporate world everyone is the king of their own selves."

"Yes, I have."

"Get out." Taehyung calmly stated as he watched her pupils dilate and her lips twist even more.

"No, you get out." She fired back, "I'm the Princess therefore, you have to leave."

"Cut the 'princess' bullshit, this is my house so you leave. You trespassed here yet you think you can command me? Leave, I said. I will not repeat thrice." Taehyung thundered at her as she shot daggers at him through her eyes.

He noticed how her colourless lips quivered for a little until she stormed out of his apartment. He heard her fiddling with the door knob and he was was almost compelled to go help her but then the door went off with a loud slam as Taehyung was left alone in his living room, clutching his fists tightly. He heard the cloud cracking and thunder rumbling outside his window but it was all muffled with the sounds of his own heartbeat.

"I should probably go to sleep." He said to himself and walked to his bedroom, unaware of the clock in his living room ticking loudly, "I'll inform the cops later on."

Taehyung's eyes were cracked open the entire time, not even a wink of sleep could grace him with its presence. The whole sky was a Prussian blue and his window was fogged with little droplets of water barely hanging off the glass till they slipped down.

He twisted and turned in his bed but he couldn't find a comfortable position. Either his legs tangled with the sheets, or the pillow shifted to the side due to his very messy sleeping skills.

Yeah, the way you sleep is a skill too.

He would often pull down the sheets if he felt too warm or pull them up when he randomly felt a cold breeze passing by, which was not true, he just imagined the coldness. If let one of his leg dangle off the bed then all of the horror movies would suddenly erupt in his mind and he had to adjust his leg back on the bed. Can't risk someone pulling him under the bed, can we?

Illogical-and-iliterate-people-claiming-to-have-the-brain-of-Einstein on internet say there are only two things that are not allowing you to sleep. It could be that someone is thinking about you or, stress.

For Taehyung, it's the latter part because the only people he had socialized with apart from Jimin were his boss, a few handpicked colleagues and cashiers. And there was no way the cashier of Starbucks was thinking about him.

"Where are you sleep? Why do you always come at ungodly hours? I swear if I drift off tomorrow at office then I'll-"

Taehyung's rambling was cut off by a sudden thunder outside the window that even managed to shake him to his bones. He got off from his bed and walked up to the window wearing his slippers. He lay his fingers on the glass and winced at how cold it was. The rain seemed it was not going to stop soon which may have scored him a day off tomorrow if his boss was kind enough.

Abruptly, his mind drifted off to the strange girl in his apartment. To be shocked, was an understatement, he was beyond shocked. Like, what would your reaction be if you come home after a long day at work and suddenly you are faced with a drenched girl in traditional wear just casually chilling on your carpet. His first reaction was to mentally scream but he managed to keep his calm outside.

Taehyung rubbed his arms up and down and blew into his palms to keep himself warm. The questions still lingered in his head but he let them be, he was too sleep deprived to think about them.

As he was marching back to his bed, a thought crossed his mind.

Where was the girl now?

"I'm sure she has a home, doesn't she?" He doubted, "Or she could possibly pass a night in the mental asylum. She would fit perfectly there." Taehyung, draped in his sheets, lay thinking about her whereabouts when a tired groan pierced the air.

"Am I really going to check on her?" He unwillingly got off the bed and approached his main door with a determined face, "I'm just going to make sure if she's there or not, and then I'll go back to bed." He made a note in his head and fist-pumped himself before opening the door.

And to his suspicion, he was right. The strange girl was outside his apartment. Her head was leaning on the wall as the rain droplets entered from the open window above and wet here even more than she already was. Her lips were parched and were a deep shade of purple and strands of hair stuck to her face as her eyes were closed and her eyebrows slightly arched in discomfort as she lay curled up like a ball.

"Be a gentleman or be cautious?" He thought to himself. His angels were begging him to take her inside but his devils were telling him to be wary of her. Who knows if she was a crook in disguise? She didn't look like one but we would never know.

Pondering over it for a while, Taehyung sighed as he shut the window and bent down to face her. He then place one of his arms behind her back and another under her legs before picking her up with a grunt.

"Guess I'll be both."

Sighing, he kicked the door open which was about to close and brought her inside his apartment. He swore her eyes opened for a tiny second till they closed once again.

With great difficulty he opened one of his spare rooms (not that he had many) and carefully dropped her on the bed. The girl immediately snuggled in and made herself comfortable as Taehyung looked at her with a bored expression. This girl had some nerve.

Getting his phone from his room, he dialled the person who would be able to help him the most right now. He felt bad waking them up at this hour but he needed help, badly. They picked it up on the third call and he beat himself up inside knowing that they were getting a good night's sleep while here he was watching over some psychopath like a hawk.

"Hey sewer-face, I'm so sorry for calling you at this time but I really really need you right now. The rain seems to be subsided for a while so can you come over? I'm in desperate need of help right now. Oh, and bring some of your clothes too." He spoke them all at a once, too scared of her response.

"I SWEAR TO GOD KIM TAEHYUNG, WHAT DID YOU DO THIS TIME-"

And then he hung up the call.
