Chapter 1

*3rd POV*

Hatchlings were swimming around in the sea happily as they hatched earlier and now were in the sea, living their best lives. A grey turtle was hit in the head by a green one, and they chased each other. Another green turtle went up to the surface to get air, but looked up panicked and quickly dived into the water as a seagull tried to grab her.

*My POV*

Rita and I were waiting for the last egg to hatch. The baby turtle hatched cheering. "Hi, there." Rita and I said softly as we smiled. "Hi!" He said happily to us. "Look at you. You are a really cute little guy, you know." Rita said softly, before he started to try and climb out, but he slipped. "Do you need some help?" I asked softly as I stuck my hand into the nest.

"No, I'm okay. I can do it myself." He responded as he pushed my hand away softly. He began climbing out the nest and got out. "You look like a real fighter. I'll call you Ricky." Rita said. "Cool." Ricky said, before he started making his way to the water. "Good luck on your journey, my little adventurer." I said softly, before Rita and I heard snoring.

"Well, they don't stay cute forever, that's for sure." Rita said as she began making her way to Ray, as I may my way to find Chris, and our little troublemaker, Lily.

*3rd POV*

"Ray, honey, it's time." Rita said. Ray yawns. "What?" He asked. "If you'd get your head out of the sand you could--" Rita said, before she was cut off. "Wait. Let me get my head outta the sand." Ray said, before let out a big yawn. "Now what did you say, baby boo?" Ray asked. "Uh, it's hatch time, it's almost over." Rita told him.

"Why didn't you say so in the first place? Let me sleep my life away, miss all the fun." Ray said as he began making his way towards the water. "Uh-huh, always my fault." Rita said sarcastically before laughing and making her way into the spot, Ray was in.

*My POV*

A female turtle was struggling. "Let me help you out, Ella." Sammy said softly as he picked Ella up. "Hello." Ella said as she looked up at Sammy and I. "You look just like your mother." Sammy said. "And who are you?" Ella asked curiously. "I'm your grandfather." Sammy answered softly. "So, now what do I do?" Ella asked.

"Just go to the sea. Grandma will help you." Sammy said and gestured to Shelly, who was getting a lot of baby turtles on her shell. "Oh, that looks like fun!" Ella said happily. Lily came running over to me and I caught her in my arms as Chris came over smiling as well. "Shelly, honey. Just a few more and we're done." Sammy told her.

"Okay. I'll be right back." Shelly responded loudly, before turning to the hatchlings. "Is everybody ready?" She asked and the hatchlings nodded excited. "Hold on. Here we go." Shelly said as she began making her way into the ocean, with the hatchlings on her back. Ray soon came over to us.

"How many we got left?" Ray asked. "Almost finished." Chris answered as he sat next to me as I held Lily in my lap. "Oh, oh, guys, behind you." Ray said pointing to a seagull that tried to eat Ella. "Hey, watch it, bird." Sammy said he hit the bird in the stomach, causing Ella to hit the ground.

"Hurry. Hurry, kids." I said softly as Ella crawled back to the nest quickly. The seagull babbled. "Oh. That was a low blow." The bird said. "Leave us alone." Sammy said as the bird smacked his head. "Hey, beat it, bait breath." Ray said as he tried to hit the bird. "Oh, so sorry, but no can do-ee. A bird's gotta eat, you know." The bird said as he tried to eat Ella.

"Help!" Ella said scared. "Not on my watch, bird!" I said held Ella close and gave Lily to Chris who clung to him. "What do you want from us? Get lost." Ray said. "It's the young ones we're after. I mean, will you look at you two? You're ancient. Which means..." The bird said as he blew raspberries at us.

"Hey, hey." Ray said, before he covered the nest from the birds. "Not too tasty." The bird said. "Look, guys, there's more." Sammy said as three more birds came in, causing the hatchlings to scream in fright and come towards us. "Oh, my fave. Sand sushi." One of them said. "Hey, stay away from them." Ray said as he threw seaweed at them as we held the hatchlings away.

The birds laughed. "I got dibs on the one wrapped in seaweed." One of them said as they kept laughing. "Oh, do save me some, boys. I'll take care of these old geezers." The bird said as he flew around the four of us. Clearly this bird didn't know what me and Chris were, and Lily. "Oh, yeah? Stand still and I'll show you what an old turtle is made of." Ray said.

The bird used his feet on Sammy's face. "Back off." Sammy said as he grunts as Ray tried to hit the bird with Chris and I. "Nice try. Can we move any slower?" The bird asked as he rubbed Ray's face. "You're gonna regret this!" Ray said as we glared at the bird. "You two can do better than that. What a mismatch we got here." The bird said, before he hugged the four of us, including Lily.

"Fly, fly, fly!" The other birds said, before a net was thrown over us. "We got 'em!" One of the humans said. "Oy, what about other turtles?" The other one asked. "These two and the mermaids will do. Ah. Cinch up the net." The first human said. "What about the bird?" The other human asked.

"We keep him, too, man. My cousin, he likes them for barbecue. Deep fires them up real nice, he does." The first humans said as we kept fighting against them. I saw Shelly turn to us and look panicked. "Sammy?" I heard Shelly ask concerned and confused. "Keep the heads down." The first human said as we fought against them.

"Ray, Chris, Izzy, we've got to save the hatchlings." Sammy said as I had Lily under me. Chris kept fighting against the net with Ray and Sammy. "Try pushing them through the net." Ray said as they began trying to do that. "Oh, they're strong." The first human said as they were struggling against us.

"Oh, no, Ray." Rita said panicked. "Hurry, Ella, run to the sea. Go, go, go." Sammy said as he pushed Ella through the net that caused her to yell. "Hey, be careful." Ray said as he pushed Ricky through the net. "Don't let them get out." The first human said, before I saw Ricky hid in the seaweed that was on the net.

"Grab that side, Captain." The second human said as they began dragging us away. "Grandpa, wait!" Ella said as she came towards us and grabbed a thing of seaweed. "This is the best catch yet, huh, Captain?" The second human asked. "Yeah." The first one said. "I don't wanna leave you." Ella said as she tried to hold on.

"It's okay, Sweetie. Quick. Go tell Grandma to wait for us here, we'll find a way out." Sammy said as Ella accidentally let go and she yells. "But, I wanna help, too!" Ella said as she kept coming towards us. I felt Lily whimper under me and I shushed her softly. "Ray! Oh, no!" We heard Rita and we faced her.

"Stay away, baby boo. We'll...we'll be back. I hope." Ray said and turned towards us as he said that last part. Rita stopped making her way towards us. "Oh, no, honey." I heard Rita say heartbroken. The hatchlings that got out were going towards Shelly. "Sammy." Shelly said sadly, worried for her mate.

| Time skip |

We were dropped into a tank, and mine, Chris' and Lily's mermaid/merman tail appeared. We swam to the top quickly. Sammy and Ray jumped up and tried to grab the top. Ray jumped up again after he fell into the water and grabbed ahold of the top. "I got it. Let me help you." Ray said as he began helping Sammy.

"It's too high, Ray. Look out!" I said as a human was coming towards us. "Where do you think you're going? You stay in there." The human said as he got Ray's fin to let go and they fell to the bottom. "Guys!" Chris and I yelled as we dived into the water with Lily. Ray fell onto a lobster. We gasped.

"Hey, watch out there, Bubba. You darn near cracked me open." The lobster said using his bigger claw to talk. "This here situation is a total disaster. I recommend an immediate withdrawal." The lobster said with his smaller claw as he glared at us. "What's your problem?" Lily asked confused.

"I'm feelin' like I'm 'bout to go all wobbly in the claws." The lobster said with his bigger claw. "Don't you pump and a dump in here." He said with his smaller claw. "What?" I asked confused. "You know, number one, number two..." The lobster said and I gagged. "Uh, yeah, got it." Chris said as Lily snuggled into me. "We're trapped in a loony bin." Ray said as he pulled the four of us close.

*3rd POV*

"Are the birds gone?" Ella asked as her and Ricky were tangled in the net. "I don't know. I don't see any." Ricky said as they looked around to see if the birds were around. "Where are we?" Ella asked confused. "Upside down." Ricky answered before one of the fisherman messed with the net, causing them to fall into the water.

*My POV*

"Yeah." I heard. "That was fun." Another voice said as we looked up to see who it was. "What was that?" Sammy asked as we looked. "Hi, Grandpa." Ricky said and we were now in trouble. Lily whimpered as she held onto me. Chris and I looked worried. "Oh, no. What are they doing in here? Things have just gone from bad to worse." Ray said as they swam towards us.

"We need to get them off this boat before it's too late." Sammy said as he swam up and held his fin up so Ricky and Ella were on it as he swam up. I followed. "Too late for what, Grandpa?" Ella asked confused. "We wanna help." Ricky said. Sammy and I resurfaced. "What now?" Ricky asked confused.

Sammy put them up towards the rope. "Getting you two out of here." Sammy said. "But we wanna stay with you." Ella said. "Uh-uh. Ray, Chris, give us a boost here." Sammy said and I went back underwater to see Ray and Chris using their backs to lift Sammy up higher. Lily came to me and I held her close as we resurfaced.

Sammy began pushing them upwards and Ricky got to the rope as Ella almost got to the edge of the tank. "I saw a big bird." Ricky said as he pointed to a cage, causing me and Sammy to look as Lily went back under water. "Where?" Ella asked worried. "It's okay. He's in a cage." I said as we saw him under a basket.

"Good. Where he belongs." Ray and Chris said and Lily giggled. Sammy kept pushing them up but we all began to slip. Sammy and I fell into the water and soon Ricky and Ella did as well. He looked at Ricky and Ella and I saw his look. "Hold on. I'm thinking. Maybe if we help him, he'll held us." Sammy said.

I grabbed Ricky and Ella and held them close. "Are you serious? I'd be careful. You can never trust a bird." I said as I held Ella and Ricky closer. We saw Sammy glance up at the surface and swam towards me a little. "Oh." I said as we laugh. "No, no. Don't even think about it." I said as I glared at Sammy a little and held Ricky and Ella closer.

"Hey. Bird. I got a deal for you." Sammy said and I continued to hold Ricky and Ella. "Hmm, a deal?" The bird asked. "I get you out of there, you get the little ones back into the sea." Sammy said. The bird laughed. "It's a deal." He said. "And you don't eat them." Sammy said pointing his fin at the bird.

"Ah, there's always a catch." He said. "Okay, hang on tight, here we go." Sammy said as he pulled the net, which was able to get the bucket off him. "I tell you what I'm gonna do. I will swear off turtle meat. From now on I am strictly vegan." The bird said. "Get that bird off my boat!" The captain said as he threw a bucket at him.

"Yeah, and maybe a sardine or two." The bird said before he flew off. Ray, Chris, Lily and I come up to the surface as I kept holding Ricky and Ella. "Nice plan, Sammy." Ray, Chris and I said sarcastically. "Yeah, I know." Sammy said. Suddenly the lobster came up. "Shut your pie-hole. Oh, now, that there is just plain rude. Boys, come on. I gots to apologize for y'all now. They've just been flapping their gums silly, is all. My name is Lulu La Morte. Three L's one E." Lulu said.

Suddenly we all heard talking and clanking. I quickly covered Ella and Ricky as Chris held me and Lily close. Lulu went back into the water as we all huddle together. "Give me a hand with this, brother. He be after the catch." The captain said. "I guess we really are trapped." Sammy said as we huddle together as I kept Ricky and Ella covered.

"Okay, that's good." One of them said, eyeing me. "They're acting as if we're wild animals." I said as Lily whimpered. "Hey, little help over here?" One of them asked. "What's the matter, man? Too heavy for you?" Another one asked, when suddenly we heard a bird squawk. "Look out." One of the humans said as the same seagulls from earlier came flying through.

"What was that?" Another human asked confused. The birds began flying towards the boat again. And they were tricking the humans. "For birds...they're actually helpful." I said as I let Ella and Ricky float in the water. The birds flew through and began pooping on all of the humans. We all watched smiling.

Ricky and Ella high five and Ray and I smiled down at them. Lily high fived Ella and Ricky gently. "Ah, it's all over me, man." One of the humans said as one of the birds flew down, and pooped on his face. Poop bounced off the side and hit Lulu. "I've been hit. Am I bleeding?" Lulu asked as Ray laughed.

"Negatory, but you stink like a hairy clam in a hot tub." Lulu said before he sunk down into the water. One of the humans looked up and got hit in the face. Sammy winched as Ray, Chris and I laughed and cheered. "Okee-dokey. I've got room here for two hatchlings." The bird said and I began frowning with Ray, Chris and Lily.

"No, Grandpa, no." Ella said afraid. "I don't have all day." The bird said as he dodged a few things a human was throwing. I held Lily close as she held onto me. Chris held both of us close. "Come on now." The bird said as Sammy lifted Ella and Ricky towards him. "I don't like this." Ray and Chris said.

"Grandpa/Sammy, no!" Ella and I said at the same time, but a human grabbed a fishhook and Sammy quickly pulled Ella and Ricky back and the bird dodged the hook. The bird was cornered and he was afraid. "Not so funny now, huh?" The human asked as he raised the fishhook and went to hit the bird, but couldn't since it got caught on a rope.

The bird laughed and flew off. "You win some, you lose some. See ya." The bird said as he laughed and flew off more with his friends. "Ah, you come back again you not so lucky." One of them said. "Okay, close the holding tank and clean up this mess. I've had enough of these birds." The captain said.

Ella and Ricky jumped off of Sammy's fin and into the water which caused them to swim into the tank, with Lily following her new friends. Chris, Sammy, Ray, Lulu and I stayed above the surface. Lulu jumped up and tried to use his claws to get through the cage. But he couldn't and he fell into the water.

The four of us looked at each other worried, and Lulu resurfaced. "I'm not sure how I feel about this guys...." I said worried as I laid my head on Chris's shoulders who held me close. "That was awesome." I heard Ella and Lily said. "Yeah!" Ricky said happily. "Ew. There's a dead fish in here." Lily said as she noticed it and looked up at us.

I went back into the water and saw the fish. Ella, Ricky and Lily swam towards it. "That's a strange fish." Ricky said. "Look at his nose. He's funny-looking." Ella said giggling. "Is he really dead?" Ricky asked curiously. "I think so." Ella and Lily said. "What do you think happened to him?" Ricky asked.

"I think the humans must have..." Lily began to say, before the fish shot awake causing them all to scream as the fish had big eyes. But I knew this fish from anywhere. Lily and Ella giggle. "Uh, somebody swallow some bad clams or what?" The fish asked. "You have really big eyes." Lily said giggling.

"All the ladies say that. Reflex thing. No big whoop. The name's Jimbo." Jimbo said. "I'm Ella. That's Ricky. That's Lily." Ella said as she introduced the three of them. "Those are our grandfathers, and those are Lily's parents." Ricky said as we swam towards them. "Hey. What's up?" Jimbo asked.

"Jimbo." I said as I smiled. "Izzy!" Jimbo said happily and hugged me. I laughed and hugged him back. "They say we're trapped in here." Ricky said. "Any idea where they might be taking us?" Sammy asked as Lily swam to Chris and he held her. "Well, first time I got caught, they threw me right back in. Said I was too small and too ugly. Can you believe that?" Jimbo asked.

Ray shook his head, but once Jimbo turned away, Ray, Sammy, Chris and I looked at each other nodding a little. "Second time they hauled me off to the Big Tank." Jimbo said. "And that would be where?" Sammy asked confused. "Up north. Whole lot of fish up there. My guess is that's where we're headed." Jimbo said.

"Are they gonna eat us?" Ella asked scared. "Oh. No, no. They actually feed us three square meals a day." Jimbo said. "Right now, any place but in here sounds like paradise to me." Ray said. "Yeah, well, that depends. There are, shall we say, certain elements to contend with." Jimbo said.

"That doesn't sound good." Sammy said softly. We were going across the ocean and we just had to wait to see where they would be taking us, to see if it was just as good as it sounded. We soon arrived somewhere, and we were entering somewhere. The captain began to take the cage off the tank.

"What do you have for me today?" A new voice asked as Ray, Sammy, Chris and I were under the water, staring up at them. "I've got your turtles, and mermaid/merman, man." The captain said. "Oh. Fantastic. Very nice specimens. Just what I needed." The man said. "How about the big lobster, boss? And the blob fish." The captain said.

The man looked at Jimbo to see him 'dead'. "Hmm. You're trying to sell me a dead fish?" The man asked. "No, he ain't dead." The captain said as he crushed a can and threw it at Jimbo who got pissed and swam off. "You see, man? He not dead at all." The captain said as we watched Jimbo swim off.

"Good 'cause we lost one last year. Okay, I'll take him. But, I am not so sure about the lobster." The man said. "Boss, consider it my present to you. You can eat him if you don't want him in the aquarium." The captain said, which caused Lulu to swim off. "I'm vegetarian." The man said. "Oh, I didn't know that." The captain said.

"I don't like him." Ella and Lily whispered to Ricky. "Come on, let's hide." Ricky said as him, Ella and Lily hide under a piece of seaweed. "Or should I be looking elsewhere?" The man asked. "No, boss. I'll make good on my promise. For sure." The captain said.
