Chapter 8: The Escape: Part II
Zane's P.O.V.:
Pixal and I had tried our hardest, but there was no way to get out of here without electrocuting ourselves and frying our circuits.
"Zane, do you hear that?" Pixal looked at me.
"Hear what?" I asked.
We stayed quiet for a few minutes before we heard the sound of footsteps coming towards our cell. Pixal and I prepared for the worst, but lucky for us it turned out to be a friend.
"Skylor." Pixal and I smiled.
"Hey guys, let's get you both out of there." She said as she pulled the lever to unlock the door.
Pixal and I exited the cell. I thought we would never have gotten out of there.
"We owe you many thanks Skylor." I smiled.
"Surely you know of way out of here, right?" Pixal asked her.
"Of course, I basically grew up on this island." She said. "Although I haven't been here in years."
"Well you found your way here, do you remember which way you came?" I asked.
"Of course I do. Let's go."
With that, we both followed Skylor through the caves underneath the island. And on the way, Skylor had explained to us everything she knew about our friends. We just hoped everyone would be able to resolve their situations, but I couldn't stop thinking about what happened with Jay.
"That is highly illogical for Jay to do such a thing to anyone, especially to his own friends. Perhaps someone was impersonating him?" Pixal guessed.
"At first I thought so too, but he knew everything about his and Nya's relationship and he had his half of his yin/yang medallion on him. He would never let anybody take that from him. It had to be Jay." Skylor frowned.
"Jay wouldn't do that. There has to be some kind of explanation for all of this." I thought about it.
"I don't know what got into Jay, but he's not himself." Skylor sighed.
"Did Nya and Jay have a falling out?" I asked.
"Not that I know of. I think Nya would've told me something like that." Skylor shrugged. "Although it seems like Jay hates her now."
"That doesn't sound like Jay. His euphoria levels are usually highest when he so much as thinks about Nya." I stated.
"Well I don't know what happened between them, but whatever it was it obviously wasn't good." Skylor sighed.
"We have to get to the bottom of this before anyone else gets hurt." I stated.
"I agree." Skylor nodded.
Skylor's P.O.V.:
I was leading Zane and Pixal out of the island through the tunnels underground. I was leading them back the way I came to get them when suddenly I felt the ground start to shake.
"Earthquake! Everyone don't move!" Zane shouted.
We all stood completely still, waiting for something to happen. Then an even bigger earthquake hit and the ground above began to collapse and we all ran back the way we came and we heard the tunnel close in behind us.
"You really think it would be that easy?" We heard a raspy voice laugh.
"I fear this is no normal earthquake, this is a trap." Zane said.
"Ya think?!" I yelled as we kept running.
Towards the end of the earthquake, there was a lot of dust in the air. Zane and Pixal were nindroids so it didn't effect them, but I was barely able keep my eyes open. It was really hard to see and breath, even with my mask up. I took a deep breath before I passed out...
***
"Skylor? Skylor can you hear me?"
I set up and opened my eyes. I could tell it was Zane talking by the sound of his voice, but it was strange. I knew I was awake because I could feel and hear everything and I knew my eyes were open but I couldn't see anything.
"Zane? Is that you?" I felt around. "I can't see anything."
"I was afraid of that." Zane said. "The dust from the quakes seem to have temporarily blinded you."
"Dang it!" I sighed. "How am I supposed to be any help now?"
"Relax, your vision should return shortly. And until then, we can find a way out together." Zane said as he grabbed my hand and helped me up.
"You guys aren't going to leave me behind?" I questioned.
"That is not the ninja way." I heard Pixal say. "Besides, Zane and I have been here before too. Together we can find a way out of here."
"Good luck with that." We heard the raspy voice say again.
"Who is that?" I asked.
"We don't know, but I have my suspicions." Zane said.
"We better get out of here." I felt Pixal grab my hand and I started following them out of the cave the best I could.
I felt kind of weird about them having to literally drag me along with them. I just hated the thought of being useless.
"Skylor stop here." Pixal told me and I halted.
"What is it?" I asked.
"The earthquakes caused this tunnel to cave in too." Zane said. "We'll have to go another way."
"Give us a second Skylor." Pixal said and started to talk things out with Zane.
Once again I felt totally useless in this situation. Part of me hoped that I was still unconscious and this had all been a dream, but it sure felt real to me. I wished there was something more I could've done.
As I was standing there waiting for Zane and Pixal to come up with a plan, I felt a small gust of wind on my face. It was then I got an idea.
"There." I pointed in that direction.
"Are you sure Skylor?" Zane asked, sounding as though he didn't believe me.
"I'm sure. I felt wind coming from that way. That has to be a way out." I told them.
"Ok it's worth a shot." Zane agreed.
"Lets go." Pixal said.
Pixal put her arm in front of me and I grabbed it. Then we started moving again.
"Skylor wait." Pixal caught my attention.
I stopped. "What?" I asked.
"There's a large chasm right in front of us. We have to find a way to cross it." Zane said.
"Can you form your dragon?" I asked.
"No, I'm too damaged." He said sadly. "I might have enough strength to make an ice bridge, but it will be very slippery for you both."
"That would not be logical." Pixal said.
"What do we do?" I asked.
"Let me scan for alternative pathways." Zane said as I heard his scanners go off. "There's a ledge across the edge of the chasm, but it's very narrow."
"Will it hold all of us?" I asked.
"Let's hope so." Zane said worryingly.
I grabbed Pixal's arm as she put it in front of me and we walked to the edge of the chasm. Zane got in front of me and I grabbed his shoulders and Pixal grabbed mine from behind.
"Step lightly everyone." Zane warned. "I have no idea how long this is will hold us."
We were stepping as light as we could hoping the ledge would hold us. I once again felt terrible that they had to do it like this for me. If I could see we could've gone one at a time, but now we might all be in danger.
As they continued to guide me I could hear the ground under us starting to crack.
"Zane, do you hear that?" I asked.
"I don't hear anything." Zane replied.
"No I swear I heard something."
We all took a second to stop. The crumbling was getting louder.
"Run!" Pixal shouted.
I put all my trust in them and ran in between them to the end of the trail when Zane said that the coast was clear. I had to catch my breath.
"Is everyone ok?" I asked.
"We're Fine Skylor, thanks to you." Zane said happily.
"Me? But you had to drag me along the whole time." I frowned.
"If you hadn't heard the ledge cracking, we would all be at the bottom of that chasm right now." Pixal said. "Without you we would not have made it."
"Thanks guys that means a lot." I smiled.
"So which way now?" Zane asked.
I turned around and felt the breeze against my face again. "That way." I pointed towards it.
"Let's go." Pixal said.
I took Pixal's arm and we started moving again. A few minutes later I could feel the sun shining on my face. I knew we had escaped.
Jay's P.O.V.:
"Oh Jay, I'm sorry. I hope you'll come to your senses soon. And even if you don't love me anymore, it doesn't change how I feel about you."
These words kept echoing in my head over and over again. How did she feel about me? Did she hate me like she always had? Did she still feel bad for me after all this? Or is this all some trick and she loved me the whole time? How did she feel about me? How do I feel about her? Was she lying? Was Cole lying? Was Nadakhan lying? I didn't know what or who to believe anymore. This was all too much.
My head felt like it was spinning. Who was lying? Who was telling the truth? I didn't know anymore. It all didn't make any sense.
"I wish I knew who was lying and who was telling the truth." I frowned.
"You said the magic words." Nadakhan appeared behind me.
"No way Nadakhan, I may be out of my mind but I still remember what happens when you use those wishes and I'm not falling for it this time." I crossed my arms.
"You've grown smarter since the last time we met." He said.
"And you haven't changed a bit." I scowled. "And by the way, Thank you for taking care of Cole and Nya, but why do you have to torture the rest of them? They didn't do anything."
"Oh but didn't they?" He raised an eyebrow. "They knew all about the situation and they just let you fall into the trap."
"They... they knew that she was lying?" I looked at him.
"The whole time." He smirked.
"Show me proof!" I demanded.
"Very well, but I must warn you, you may not like what you see."
"Show me!" I yelled.
He made a magic window float in front of me. I looked into it.
I saw Kai, Zane, Lloyd, Kira and Pixal talking in the living room without me.
"Can you believe Nya is still with Jay." Kai said.
"Yeah, you think since she likes Cole so much she would've broken up with him already." Lloyd shrugged.
"She's not going to end things with Jay, she would feel too bad for him." Kira said.
"So what? She can't date them both right?" Zane said.
"As long as Jay doesn't find out then I guess she can do whatever she wants." Kai shrugged.
"You don't think we should tell him?" Pixal asked.
"Why? That's between Nya, Jay and Cole, not us." Kai shrugged. "And I for one don't want to stick my finger in that beehive."
"So we just don't tell Jay?" Kira asked.
"Sounds like a plan to me." Lloyd said.
He took the window away and I now understood everything. Nadakhan was only showing me the truth. Nya never loved me at all and my so called friends didn't even care enough to tell me. I was done with this. Time to show them I'm tougher than I look.
Nya's P.O.V.:
After a very long walk we had finally made it out of the cave, but because it was so dark and we were so tired we decided to take shelter for the night and set up camp in the woods around the cave.
Lloyd was exhausted so he fell right asleep and Kira was off looking for more firewood. I was sitting by the fire thinking about how I could be with Jay right now.
To think, this is how I'm spending the night that was supposed to my honeymoon. Instead of spending it in Shintaro with the best guy in the world, I'm here sleeping on the ground.
I looked at the letter that had Jay's vows inside. I didn't want to spoil the surprise, but after all that I needed to remember what Jay was like back then. Back when things were normal, back when he was himself.
I got to the point where I couldn't take the temptation anymore and I opened the letter. It was a little smudged because of what happened earlier, but I could read it.
_______________________
Nya, the moment I first met you I knew there was a huge spark between us. It wasn't just your beauty I was attracted too, but everything about you. You're brave, you're funny, you're talented and you never let others get in your way. That's what I love about you. I can't believe that today I get to stand next to you and we get to start our lives together. It's a day I've been looking forward to for a long time and I can't believe it's finally here. Today I get to marry my best friend, my yang, and today, my wife. And even though you don't like to hear it, no matter what happens to us in the future, I will always love you.

A teardrop fell from my eye and onto the letter. I couldn't believe how serious he sounded, there was no doubt in my mind that Jay actually cares for me, or at least he did before Nadakhan showed up.
"Nya?" I heard someone's voice behind me.
I turned around to see Kira and tried my best to dry my tears before she set next to me.
"What's wrong?" She asked.
"I... I miss him. The old him." I frowned. "I can't begin to think about the lies Nadakhan's been telling him and he's so distraught he can't think straight. What if after all this is over he... he won't love me anymore, or worse."
"Hey, calm down." Kira pulled me into a hug. "You always find a way out of every situation you've been though, and if anyone can figure this out it's you."
"Thanks Kira." I pulled away from the hug and a slight smile came back on my face. "This is why you're my maid of honor."
"I'm always here for you." She smiled.
"What are you doing up?" I asked.
"Oh I heard you get up and came to check on you."
"How is Lloyd doing?" I asked.
"Well, his arm is most likely broken, but he seems to be getting better."
"We should probably get him to the hospital in the morning. We can see Kai and my parents while we're there too."
"I bet you're worried about him." Kira frowned.
"Of course I am, I haven't seen him since the explosion." I sighed. "He looked so hurt like he couldn't even move."
"Didn't Skylor tell you he was going to be ok?"
"Yeah and I know he will be, but that doesn't mean Kai won't do something stupid." I sighed.
"We both know there's no stopping him." Kira laughed and so did I.
"Thanks Kira. That really cheered me up." I smiled.
"Anytime." She yawned.
"It's getting late, we should probably turn in." I said.
"Yeah." Kira yawned again and laid down by the fire we had made. "Good night."
"Night." I said as I laid down too.
I hugged Jay's letter and I kept him on my mind as I slowly fell asleep, hoping that one day this will all be normal again.
