Chapter 2: Divided and Conquered
Kira's P.O.V.:
I woke up and I was in a cave. I didn't see the others anywhere and the only one with me was Lloyd. He was still unconscious.
"Lloyd? Lloyd wake up!" I tried to shake him awake.
He slowly started to open his eyes. He seemed tired and although it was dark in that cave, I could tell that he was in pain. He was holding his arm like he was hurt.
"Lloyd, can you hear me?" I asked him.
Lloyd nodded and set up, still holding his arm in pain.
"Careful, you're hurt. Can you move it?" I asked.
"I think so." Lloyd tried but he couldn't move his arm very much. "Ow!"
"Here let me see."
I leaned over to look at his arm. I touched it and he flinched. It didn't feel like it was broken, maybe just a bad sprain. My grandmother was the master of healing, and while I may not have inherited her element, she had taught me exactly what to do.
"Here, this should help."
I took my bandana out of my hair and wrapped it around his arm to make a sling. He flinched as I was tightening it.
"Sorry." I apologized.
"It's ok. It feels better now thanks." He said. "Are you ok?"
"I'm ok, but what about the others?" I frowned.
"They must be somewhere else. Pretty smart of this villain not to keep us all in one place." Lloyd said.
"Do you remember what happened to your arm?"
"You mean you don't?" He looked at me.
"No, I think I must've blacked out before then." I said. "What happened?"
"It's still a bit fuzzy to me." He held his head. "I remember that I couldn't sleep last night and then I heard a noise. I went out to investigate and I saw this... this guy carrying you. I tried to attack him but then he pushed me into the wall and I blacked out."
"You tried to save me?" I frowned and he nodded. "Why would you do that?"
"I'm a ninja, it's my job. It's no big deal."
"No big deal? No big deal?! You put your life at risk to save me!" I exclaimed. "How can I ever repay you?"
"Don't mention it." He said.
"I feel bad for letting you get hurt." I frowned.
"Kira, it wasn't your fault. Besides I'm feeling better."
"But I don't get it, why did you save me?" I asked.
"Because you saved me before, I was just returning the favor." He smiled.
That's right, I had saved him before. That was such a long time ago I had almost forgotten about it.
**********Flashback**********
I was wondering the forest at night. I had gone out for food and was headed back to my treehouse. I thought it was a normal night, but then as I was walking by the ravine, I saw imprints in the dirt that looked like someone had slipped. That definitely wasn't there yesterday. I had to investigate.
I grabbed my flashlight and slowly made my way down into the ravine. About an hour of searching later, I found someone all dressed in green. He looked really hurt. I knew I had to do something.
I ran up to him and he was unconscious. His shoulder seemed out of place and his ankle was swollen. He also had a lot of cuts and scrapes all over him. I carefully got him on my back and took him up to my treehouse.
When we got there I set him down in the hammock and got him cleaned up. I took the bandages and wrapped up his ankle and his head. I was going to reset his shoulder, but it's best to do that when he woke up so I didn't startle him.
I waited a few hours and then he finally woke up in a panic. As he set up he held his held his shoulder in pain.
"Hey calm down, I won't hurt you." I assured him.
He seemed really confused as he noticed me. "Who are you? Where am I?"
"Relax, my name is Kira and I'm here to help you." I explained. "I found you at the bottom of the ravine and you looked hurt. I brought you to my treehouse so you could get better."
"Oh well thanks I guess. I'm Lloyd." He looked down at his bandaged ankle. "Did you do that?"
"Well it was swelling so I figured you hurt it. Is it feeling better now?"
"Yeah, thank you but my shoulder really hurts." He struggled.
"Don't move it, let me see."
He nodded and I looked at his shoulder and gently popped it back into place. He screamed at first but then he was moving his arm around again like he was feeling better.
"How's that?" I asked.
"Still hurts but that's a lot better. Thank you."
"Here, this will help too." I took the bandana out of my hair and wrapped it around his arm to make a sling. "How's that?"
"That feels great. Thank you." He smiled. "How can I repay you?"
"Oh don't worry about it." I dismissed as I started to make him some healing tea. "It's the least I can do."
He looked around. "And you live in this treehouse all by yourself?"
"Well not all the time. I'm kind of a drifter so I don't stay in one place very long. I have hideouts set up all over Ninjago."
"Why?"
"Because my parents left for a trip a long time ago and they didn't come back. I travel Ninjago searching for them but it's been years so now I just adventure for the fun of it." I said.
"Oh, I'm sorry." Lloyd frowned.
"It's ok, it's in the past now." I sighed and finished his tea. "Here drink this. It'll help."
"Thanks." He said as he took a sip.
"So may I ask what you were doing out here?"
"Let's just say I was looking for someone. But to be honest they might be a lost cause too." He sighed.
"Well maybe they're looking for you too."
"Yeah right, I doubt it." He frowned.
We kept talking until he eventually called some of his friends and got him a ride home. His friends seemed happy that he was ok and said that I could come see him again at anytime I wanted. Eventually I became friends with all of them and they made me an honorary part of their team.
******End of Flashback******
That day changed my life forever and I met all of my best friends that day. I just hoped I'd get to see them again.
"Do you think the others are ok?" I asked.
"I hope so." Lloyd frowned.
Kai's P.O.V.:
"Kai! Kai wake up!"
I slowly opened my eyes to reveal Cole in front of me. I set up and I had a headache, but I was ok. I looked around and we looked to be in some kind of an abandoned warehouse. We were locked in a cage made with vengestone.
"Kai, are you ok?" Cole asked me.
"Yeah, are you?"
He nodded and helped me to me to my feet. I looked around but saw no sign of the others.
"Cole, where is everyone else?"
"I don't know, I just woke up." Cole shrugged. "I have no idea what happened."
"Me neither, it's like we all somehow stayed asleep and woke up here. Maybe this is a dream?" I was thinking. Then Cole punched me in the shoulder. "Ow! What was that for?"
"I was testing your theory. I guess it's not a dream." He smirked.
"Whatever, we have to find a way to get out of here."
I looked around the cage for signs of anything that could help us, but whoever this villain was knew what he was doing. There was nothing in this warehouse except for our cage and the surrounding traps and alarms all over the walls.
"Kai, look at those wires."
Cole pointed to the wires that were placed all around the room. They lead a trail to the floor mat in front of the door. There was also some blastzap tied to the wall.
"This whole place is set up like a giant booby trap! If someone comes in here, this whole place is gonna blow." I realized.
"And we have no way to warn the others." Cole frowned.
"If they're even alive." I frowned.
"If we were taken here, then maybe the others were taken somewhere else. Whoever this villain is, she or he must be trying to spread us out so he can divide and conquer."
"Or use us for bait in his little games. Whatever the case, I feel it has something to do with the wedding."
"I was thinking the same thing."
"And that means Jay and my sister are in trouble." I frowned. "We have to get out of here."
"If we tried anything that blastzap could blow this place to pieces. We have to wait this out."
"Ok." I frowned. "Nya, wherever you are, I hope you're ok."
Zane's P.O.V.:
I was with Pixal who was just coming back online. I recognized this dungeon well, because he I had spent a year here before. Chen's island.
I don't know how we had ended up here or who kidnapped us. My memory banks had no recollection of the incident. But at least I was not alone this time.
"Pixal, are you ok?" I asked as she finally opened her eyes.
"Where are we? What happened?" She asked.
"I sense you have no recollection of the event either." I frowned. "Are all of your systems working?"
"My vital systems are fully functional. My other features seem to be disabled for the time being."
"Same for me." I frowned. "My powers are failing to work as well."
"It must be the vengestone in the walls." Pixal said.
I nodded as I helped Pixal to her feet. She seemed dizzy but otherwise ok.
"It appears we have landed on Chen's Island." I said. "It is hard to say how long we have been here."
"We must work on an escape plan." Pixal suggestioned.
"Even if we did, there are thousands of tunnels under the island and my navigation systems are offline. It would take us forever to find our way out."
"Who do you think trapped us here?" She asked.
"My logic perimeters dictate that since Chen has passed on, the villain is using a divide and conquer strategy to break apart our team."
"Then the others must be spread about Ninjago."
"Why do you think they are doing this?" Pixal asked.
"I do not know, but we must find a way to get out of here." I looked around.
"This place brings back memories for you, doesn't it?" Pixal looked at me.
I sighed and nodded. "I was trapped here for so long. I thought the others had forgotten about me."
"Well this time things will be different." She smiled and grabbed my hand. "I'll be here to help you the whole way."
"Thank you Pixal." I smiled. "I don't know what I would do without you."
"Now come on, let's find an escape route."
Jay's P.O.V.:
I woke up and I was all alone. I seemed to be trapped underground somewhere. I tried to move but I was tied to the wall and everything hurt. My back was killing me, my head was aching, and my wrists and ankles were bleeding a bit from the ropes digging into my skin. I didn't remember much except that Nadakhan was the man behind all this.
I don't know how he escaped. Did someone find his lamp? Oh sure Jay, that's the important thing right now! Nya's in trouble, I gotta focus.
Oh my gosh, Nya. I didn't know if Nadakhan got her too. Was she with the others? Where are the others? Jay stop panicking! Find a way out of here.
I tried to move again but the ropes got tighter. My wrists and ankles were already hurting so that just made it worse.
"Don't bother struggling." Nadakhan said as floated in here. "Those ropes will only get tighter the more you move."
"What did you do to my fiancé and my friends?!" I screamed.
"Your friends are safe, for now. As for Dilara..."
"You know that's not her name! Now what did you do?" I accidentally moved and the ropes got tighter.
"Nothing yet, but if you want to keep her alive, you will do what I say." He threatened.
"You don't scare me anymore you evil genie! I'll never give in to your demands."
"Fine, then I'll just have to kill her."
With his magic, he showed my an image of Nya. She was in the courtyard of the monastery crying in the center. She must've thought Nadakhan got rid of all of us, and for all I know he only spared me and Nya. Nadakhan stood there sinisterly with his fingers ready to snap. I didn't know what he was planning to do to her, but I didn't want to find out.
"Ok fine. I'll do whatever you want, just please don't hurt her." I begged.
"Good choice."
He relaxed his fingers and made the image disappear. He grabbed his sword and cut me down from the ropes. I hit the floor and caught my breath as I tried to stand up, but everything was hurting ten times worse now.
"Get up!" He screamed.
I fought the pain and forced myself to get up. The whole time I kept Nya on my mind. Her safety was more important to me than anything.
"That's better." Nadakhan said. "And to make sure you don't escape..."
He poofed a giant vengestone ball and chain around my ankle. I should have guessed.
"Well, this brings back memories." I said to myself.
"Now let's get down to business."
