4. Raina's Matchmaking?

In the previous chapter :

We went to different markets and malls. It was magical.

Everything was so perfect. I enjoyed it a lot!

I turned sideways to Ivy.

The airplane agency boss indeed turned out to be my angel in disguise!

*************

RAINA'S POV :

"Then keep the sales department files on the left."

"Okay...and done! Everything is now in order," I declared proudly at the result of my hard work: a well arranged office.

"Wow. That was actually fast, Raina. Honestly, it only took two hours to arrange your new office. No wonder you are a good employee!"

I grinned. "Hehe. By the way, thank you so much, Sarah, for helping me! I wouldn't be able to do this without you!"

"Anytime, Raina! Good luck with your job! You will do great!"

I cut the call and looked around my new office.

The room had a large window with a sea blue curtain. The window gave a splendid view of the beautiful city. I looked at the mesmerizing sight in front of my eyes. I can't believe I am on the forty-ninth floor!

I leaned down to see the entrance of the building. Surprisingly, I saw something black in front of the entrance. Something like a small ant. I peered down and squinted my eyes to see properly, but the outcome just proved to be the waste of my energy.

I literally wasted all my energy to see Mr. Demon get out of his car?!

I turned around with my back facing the window. The office had a back leather chair, a few cupboards, a laptop, and a well polished wooden desk which had a pen holder and a few files waiting to be arranged.

I sighed. Let's not keep the files waiting.

After keeping all the files in place, I looked around the room.

Perfect

I let myself fall onto the comfy black leather chair. Closing my eyes, I recalled all the past events that occured over the past few days. A trail of memories crossed my mind, from my fake sickness to my business class seat fiasco that somehow wound up into me becoming Mr. Demon's temporary personal assistant. After that, I met an amazing french cat, lost my keys, and met Ivy.

No wonder this is a unique trip. Chuckling at the thought, I opened my eyes and marched towards Mr. Demon's office to discuss his schedule today. Upon reaching the door of his office, I knocked.

"I am busy,” came a cold voice from the office.

Busy? Without even seeing his schedule for today?

I knocked again.

"What is it?" came a cold, commanding voice from inside.

"Umm.. Mr. Eastwood, your schedule-"

"Ms. Parker, stay outside. I will call you soon,” he ordered, cutting me off.

Fine, Mr. Demon!

My eyes aimlessly wandered around the corridor. I saw a blonde shouting at someone on her phone to never enter the kitchen again or the house will end up on fire.

Liz would be so happy to know that she is not the only person who can end up burning a house by just entering the kitchen.

I turned sideways to find a person staring at me.

"I know, I am beautiful. Can you stop staring?" I asked.

He looked at me shocked but quickly hid it and remarked with a cheesy grin.

“You know, I was about to say that. Anyways, I never ever came across you before. I mean there is no way my eyes can overlook a beauty like you."

I sighed. "Look Mr. I-will-state-the-obvious, I know I am beautiful. So please, either come up with a better compliment or stop with the flirty attitude, Me being an honest lady, want to inform you that your flirting sucks. So please, stop. All you are doing is embarrassing yourself."

Instead of being ashamed, he stepped towards me and smirked. "I like honesty. Are you single?"

I rolled my eyes and said with a mocking tone."If you like honesty why are you wasting your time here? Go spend time with your honesty."

'This girl,’said my conscience, facepalming.

He chuckled. "You are funny. Anyways, you didn't answer my second question."

"Firstly, I am not funny. I am Raina. Secondly, I'm married with food."

I saw my conscience facepalming again.

Dear conscience, I wanted to inform you that if you keep on face palming yourself, you will soon have a headache. So don't blame me later when that happens.

Before my conversation with my conscience could continue, someone tapped my shoulder.

I turned sideways. Mr. I-will-state-the-obvious was looking at me with a questioning look.

Unsure of what he said, I asked, "Did you say something?"

The moment he heard my words his eyes widened a bit and his lips slightly parted. All in all he looked legit shocked. What the hell is happening?

Within a few seconds, my eyes filled with someone's chuckle. I turned sideways to see a familiar thirty year old brunette, whom I recognized as the receptionist, chuckling. Before I could comprehend what was going on, Mr. Obvious left, embarrassed.

Okay, now I am really confused. I turned to the brunette with a questioning look on my face.

"Oh dearie, it’s nothing.  It's just that he asked you for a lunch date, but, you being busy in your own world, ignored it. It's the first time someone has declined his offer."

"Oh! Anyways, serves him right for flirting with every single woman in the office," I stated in a matter of factly tone.

The receptionist's eyes widened a little. “How did you kn-"

"Ms. Parker! Come in right now!" came a familiar cold voice from the office.

"Yes sir! Coming!" I yelled back. Turning to the receptionist, I said, “I saw him flirting with one of the girls yesterday when I was leaving for the hotel. I have photographic memory." I winked at her before entering Mr. Demon's office.

"Morning, Mr. Eastwood,” I greeted.

"Hn. Take a seat,” he replied.

"So, these are the clients who want to have a meeting with us today,” I said while handing over the file to him.

He took the file from my hands and went through the appointments for the day.

Surprisingly, I noticed a ghost of a smile on his face.

Wait-

Smile? Mr. Demon?

Not possible!

I rubbed my eyes and looked again. Instead of a ghost of a smile, I noticed a small smile gracing his features. His pale white skin with onyx black eyes. A small smile on his face. He looked stunning.

'What did you just think-' asked my conscience with a horrified expression.

N-Nothing. I replied to my conscience while I rudely stared at him unabashedly for mere moments until he spoke up.

"Ms. Parker, Can you stop staring?" he asked with a hint of amusement. His small smile turned into an amused one.

Aw, He looks so cute!

"I-I-I wasn't staring,”  I replied, timidly looking away. Why the hell am I stuttering?

"Sure, you weren't..." he said sarcastically.

"I wasn't! I was just observing..." I replied unsurely.

“Observing what, Miss Parker?" he asked, amused.

"That...um," I said, trying to come up with something. "That you are smiling!" I finished confidently.

His smile immediately dropped. Aw, Dang!

"I wasn't smiling,”  he stated in a matter of factly tone.

"Sure you weren't..." I said, smirking.

"Let's continue with the discussion of my today's schedule,” he ordered, quickly changing the subject.

"Yes sir..."

**********

After planning out the entire day's schedule, I got up from my chair and was about to leave when Mr. Demon stopped me.

"Ms. Parker. Please ask someone to bring coffee for me,” he ordered.

"Sure...But how about I bring it for you instea-"

"No!" he replied almost immediately.

Chuckling at his reaction, I advanced towards the door.

Mr. Demon suddenly spoke up. "I was."

"Excuse me?"

He looked away with a light blush gracing his porcelain pale cheeks. "I was smiling."

"Knew it!" I said, grinning.

" Hn. Good,” he said.

"Hmm?" I asked unsure what he meant.

"I said good. You were concentrated on your work and weren't busy flirting with the employees," he said in a husky voice.

Flirtin-

Oh my God! He heard the conversation-

But why does it make him smile?

'Aw, you are innocent like always,’ said my conscience, shaking its head.

Innocent?

"Ms. Parker, can you please go stop checking me out and go?" he asked while smirking.

Damn! I was staring at him the entire time!

"Yes sir,” I said while scurrying away from his office.

Only if I knew that I missed one of the most rare humorous laughs of a certain someone

******

After working for four hours straight, I was hella tired and super hungry. I just ate nine sandwiches in the morning for breakfast. Can you believe it, this less?

I reached my purse and took out a Doritos family pack. Finally, something to eat!

Little did I know, this would make me even more hungry.

After finishing it, I craved for more. But before I could think of what other things I have in my backpack, someone knocked on the door.

"Yes?"

"Ms. Parker, it's two pm already. Do you wanna have lunch with me?" came a familiar voice of Mr. Demon.

The moment I heard 'lunch', I rushed towards the door and opened it quickly.

"Sure, why not?!" I squealed excitedly.

"I wasn't aware you wanted to go out and have lunch with me so badly," he teased.

Then I realized the way I agreed. Stupid Raina! "What- what do-"

He cut me off. "I was just teasing you, Ms. Parker. Let's go."

"Okay. Just let me take my purse-"

"No. Lunch is on me, " he stated in a matter of factly tone.

"Why?" I asked, raising a brow.

"Because I asked you to go on lunch with me,”  he stated.

"And how does that matter? I mean if I ever ask you to go lunch with me, will I have to pay?"

Instead of replying to my question, he questioned back smirking. "Are you planning to go on a date with me, Ms. Parker?"

My cheeks turned red. "Wha- No-" I started but got cut off by his chuckle.

Since when did Mr. Demon start to smile, chuckle, tease and joke? Damn.. the matter is becoming serious, we need a doctor asap!

'Drama queen,' stated my conscience.

"Ms. Parker, with full intentions of sounding rude, you are staring again."

"I was-"

"Whatever. Talk to your conscience when you reach your hotel. I don't want you to zone out again," he stated before exiting my office.

"Yes si- Wait! HOW DID YOU KNOW?!" I yelled while catching up.

No reply came. Bastard

Soon the elevator arrived. I was about to step in when he stopped me. "Ms. Parker, Your boss is standing next to you and you dare enter the elevator before me." He asked coldly but I knew that he was just trying to tease me.

"But dear sir, Ladies first and anyways, assistants move in the elevator with the boss,” I shot back.

"Of course, Ms. Parker, but my company my rules," he said while stepping inside the elevator. "Took you long enough to accept your position as a personal assistant.

"Wha- I-" My reply got cut off by the closing sound of the elevator's door.

The reason why I hated him so much. I thought while waiting for the elevator to return.

********

"Took you long enough, Ms. Parker," Mr. Demon greeted me when the elevator's door opened.

"What can I say, Mr. Eastwood? It’s because of a certain someone,” I shot back with a tight smile.

"Hm. Follow me," he said before marching towards his Mercedes. Sighing, I followed him.

He, being a gentleman, opened the door for me. "Ladies first."

WHAT THE ACTUAL HELL?!

I looked at him with mouth agape. Is this man for real?

"We are outside the office, Ms. Parker," he stated.

Oh

I was about to enter but a realization hit me. "Wait! Who said that you are driving?" I asked, crossing my arms in front of my chest.

"Because it's my car,”  he stated.

"Wai- Where are we going to have lunch?" I inquired.

"In the Merća-"

"What no! I have fixed my restaurant. It took me two hours of proper research about the food and restaurant. So, today we are going to the place. I have decided!"

"Ms. Parker, your research is based on data on the internet, which is often overrated. Besides, I have lived more than fifteen years of my life here. Am I not supposed to be more experienced?"

"No! Now give me the keys,” I ordered.

"Who are you to order me? FYI, I am your boss, Ms. Parker. Not the other way round," he asked coldly with a hint of annoyance.

"We are outside the office, Mr. Eastwood," I said, smirking. Take that! "Now please give me the keys."

After a staring contest of a few seconds, he gave the keys.

I win!

Taking the keys, I took my driver's seat. "Ready sir?" Without looking at him or waiting for his response, I started the engine. "Let's go!"

After a few seconds of silence, Mr. Eastwood broke the ice. " Ms. Parker, why did you have a sudden urge to drive? I mean, I wouldn't mind driving."

"Mr. Eastwood, I am an independent lady and I like to do things by myself," I stated confidently.

Independent, my foot! My driving skills suck, dammit.

I mean, I always make the two lovers, tree and car meet, and according to Liz, this is what you call bad driving. But honestly, I am just doing the noble job of making two lovers meet.

Suddenly, I stopped the car, making me and Mr. Eastwood jerk.

"What is the matter, Ms. Parker? Why did you stop suddenly? The GPS shows we are in the right direction," inquired Mr. Eastwood.

"Umm, well...I forgot my purse in the office..." I hesitantly said.

"Not again! Ms. Parker, when will you ever learn?" he asked.

"Umm, I did learn. I have my phone this time." I replied waving my phone in front of his face, nervously.

'Oh God! This girl,’  said my conscience, facepalming

Before he could reply, my phone rang. A name flashed across the screen.

Lizzy.

Damn...What bad timing.

I quickly rejected it and kept in on the dashboard. Then, I started the car again.

Within a few seconds, my phone rang yet again. I rejected it. After repetition of this process again. Mr. Eastwood said annoyed, "Ms. Parker please pick the call up."

"But I am driving right now..." And the moment I will pick up the call I would be found dead, either because of the meeting of the lovers or if Mr. Eastwood hears the way I talk about him.

I am doomed.

"It's alright. We can keep the phone on speaker."

My eyes widened as he was about to pick up the call.

NOOOOOOOOOO!!!!

Sue me!

I managed to control the steering wheel despite the visible shaking of my hand.

"HEY RAINA!"

"Hey Liz!"

"So, su-" she cut herself off.

"What happened?" I asked nervously.

"Raina. A-Are y-you alright?! You just called me Liz."

"Umm...Yes! I am perfect!" I said with fake cheerfulness. I am hella nervous dammit!

"Okay... So, after reading your texts last night, You told me you were with some Ivy girl.. You made friends already, huh? So tell me about her!" she asked enthusiastically.

"Well, her full name is Ivy Eastwood, she is-" she cut me off.

"WHAT DID YOU JUST SAY?! IVY EASTWOOD?! YOU MEAN YOU SPENT AN ENTIRE DAY WITH IVY FREAKING EASTWOOD?!"

"Yeah-"

"AND DO YOU REALISE THAT SHE IS AS POWERFUL AS MR. EASTWOOD AND YOU ARE COOL ABOUT IT? ANYWAYS, WHERE DID YOU GUYS MEET? DETAILS!!"

"Firstly, stop shouting, I am driving here and we met at Mr. Eastwood's house cause I forgot my purse."

"Yeah.. Typica- wait... DID YOU JUST SAY MR. EASTWOOD INSTEAD OF MR. DEMON?!" Oh damn... "AND YOU ARE FREAKING DRIVING, YOU KNOW IT'S NOT SAFE!"

Aw! I have such a caring roommate.

"It is! There are almost no accidents here, so I will be safe, don't worry!"

"Raina, I meant the people on the road are not safe..." she stated.

I take back what I said earlier.

"Oh.."

"Don't 'oh..', you and driving always equals accidents. Luckily, nobody is with you."

Mr. Demon visibly stiffened.

"Okay, lemme concentrate on the road! Bye-Bye!" I said, quickly disconnecting the call.

A few minutes of awkward silence went by.  Time to face the music, Raina.

I turned sideways and started, "Mr. Eastwo-"

"Face the road Ms. Parker! I don't wanna die so early," he commanded.

I somehow managed to turn and face the road again.

Out of the entire conversation, he only noticed my bad driving skills and all he is concerned about is his life?!

Wow.

'It's a good thing, if you look at it. I mean he didn't  notice the 'Mr. Demon' part,' explained my conscience.

Yeah, right!

********

"I am sorry Mr. Eastwood!" I apologized for the tenth time.

'Raina, you think a sorry will repair the damage you have caused to the car,' stated my conscience.

Thanks so much for the support!

I mean it's not my fault. I managed to drive carefully till we reached the restaurant, but the moment I saw food...

'.. You bumped the car in the parking corner's board,’ completed my conscience.

He sighed. "Let's have lunch first, Ms. Parker. A new car will be there by the time we finish."

I followed him to the restaurant quietly.

Damn!

*******

DRAVEN'S POV :

I can’t believe someone can be this clumsy.

Sighing, I looked at Raina. She was holding the menu in front of her face.

Is she nervous? She has been looking at the menu for the past five minutes.

"Ms. Parker, don't hesitate please. Take it as a compensation for spoiling your trip."

"Hesitate? Me?" she said, keeping the menu back on the table. "I was looking at the variety of food here!"

'.....'

You gotta be kidding me.

"Waiter!" she called the waiter.

"Yes ma'am? What would you like to have, ma'am? Sir?"

"One L'hamburger,” I ordered.

"What about you, ma'am?"

She looked at me. "I will pay you back later!"

What did she mean by that?

And I understood what she meant in the very next minute.

"Okay. So, one croissant, one lemon tart, gelato, Basquiat pizza, cheese platter, ice cream and pralines. That's it for now! Thank you!"

"Ms. Parker, Will you be able to finish that much?!" I asked.

"Don't underestimate my eating skills," she remarked.

"We will see about that,” I said, smirking.

"Okay, so if I win you will get me a cotton candy! Deal?"

"Do you think after eating all this, you can still man-"

She cut me off by glaring.

"Deal?"

This girl is...

Leaning forward, I stroked her cheek with my finger.

"Deal!"

Soon the food arrived, and within a few minutes, she finished half of the food.

How-

I watched her with my  mouth agape.

And within ten minutes, she finished all of it.

Literally, finished!

This girl is-

"Fantabulous, right? " she asked.

"Hn. Get ready. You don't wanna miss your trip do you?" I asked.

"Oh damn. I forgot to tell Ivy that I am re-"

"Ivy won't take you out today,” I stated.

"Umm, why?" she asked, confused.

"She is...busy."

"Oh"

"I will go pay the bill,” I said.

"Sure! I will go to the restroom first."

******

"Hello?"

"Hey, Ivy. I am taking out Raina for her tour today. If she calls you, tell her that you are busy,”  I stated.

"But I am free, I can-" she started.

"No!" I deadpanned.

"Fine. Lil bro! Have a nice date!"

"It's not a dat-" I started.

She ended the call before I could complete my sentence.

'She still has bad telephone habits,’ I thought, sighing.

Keeping the phone back in my pocket, looked up.

This is gonna be fun.
