Chapter Five
Trip Down The Memory Lane to when it was prom.
I was over at Olivia's house to help her get ready. Today was her special day because she was going with Levi.
She was the only one between the both of us who had gotten a date. I wouldn't have been going to room if it wasn't for Olivia who said I had to tag along.
I leaned on the wall outside her bedroom door while she quickly made up final touches to herself.
My outfit was black tight pants, a white long sleeved shirt and a bowtie. I had a black blazer with me just in case.
As for my hair, it has just been let down loose, but curled.
"Okay, I'm ready," I heard Olivia say. The door swing open as she walked out.
Olivia looked so beautiful top to bottom. Her caramel brown hair was now in a bun and two wavy strands of hair hanging by the sides of her face.
Around her neck was a shining diamond necklace which went all around her neck in the same pattern of water droplets.
Her stunning prom dress was black by the chest area and long sleeves with dark blue flowers going down to her waist in a line from her right hand side shoulder. Joint together with that was a white, long skirt with blue lines blended in.
Olivia had light blue heals on, making her seem 5'9 which was four inches taller then me. Her original height had been 5'7.
"So, how do I look?" She asked giving a small twirl making a smile appear on my face.
"Perfect," I said, unable to stop a giggle from leaving my mouth.
"You look pretty good though," She complimented, wiggling her eyes. I can bet you my face was burning red, I could feel the heat inside of me.
Before I could reply, the doorbell rang.
"I'll get it," Olivia's mum yelled as I helped Olivia lift her dress so she could walk down the stairs without tripping. She shot me a thankful smile once we were down.
Levi was waiting there, and not going to lie, any girl would kill to be in Olivia's place right now. Olivia herself had glowing eyes and was basically drooling over him.
"A word?" Olivia's dad asked Levi. Levi nodded and followed him to the room right next to the stairs, which was the living room.
Liv and I gave each other a knowing look, Levi was about to get the talk almost every dad would give when a boy takes his daughter to prom, especially in this case Olivia was going to be coming over to our house after prom.
"Come on girls, stand over her, it's picture time!" Olivia's mum said.
I hated my pictures being taken. "Mrs Bianchi I really don't-"
But she cut me off. "These are for memories! Look how beautiful the both of you look! And dear - please just call me Cora."
I nodded as she pushed Olivia and I made us stand in front of the wall. She whipped out her phone and said,"Say cheese!"
"Cheeeessseee," The both us said, me exaggerating my smile.
Olivia's mum squealed at the picture and showed it to us. I wanted to ask if we could retake the picture, but that would mean calling her Cora. I was uncomfortable with that.
Levi and Mr Bianchi came out, the both of them were laughing. Mrs Bianchi pushed Levi forward, making him stand next to Liv.
One picture was taken before I stood aside so the two of them could have a picture together.
Olivia and Levi did many poses, and by the time we were outside the house, Liv was a giggling mess.
I walked behind the two of the, about a meter distance, not wanting to eavesdrop on what Levi was whispering to Olivia.
I sighed and shivered a bit as the cold breeze hit me. Jealousy flared through me as Levi but his coat around Liv.
It was going to be a long night.
Standing on the road outside was a Limo. Levi opened the door for Olivia, closed it, and walked to the side.
As I walked to the door, Olivia swung it open while rolling her eyes.
In I went. There wasn't anything surprising because I had already been in a Limo before.
Each time there was a family gathering, this was the vehicle chosen. I never fancied those gatherings, all my cousins were grown up and they usually drank.
I would always hide myself in a corner and spend my time talking to Olivia on the phone.
The Limo that Levi had brought was our personal one. It had wooden flooring, and seats in a 'U' formation starting from the back.
There was also a small bar behind the seats that contained a variety of drinks for different occasions.
Levi and Olivia decided to place themselve right at the entrance. I made my way to the back, near the bar, hoping that there would be some snacks to pass my time.
To my luck, there was a granola bar. I grabbed it and immediately began unwrapping it.
Why do you always eat?
I looked at my granola bar and closed my mouth. I repeated the process, the same the rushing back into my mind.
What was I meant to do with this opened granola bar? After giving a quick glance and Olivia and Levi to see if they were looking, I slid the bar under the seat.
My heart pace went higher, I was wasting food. Never in my life had I done this.
You overthink alot.
I curled up my fist, my nails digging into my skin. I didn't let go. Instead, I averted my gaze to outside.
It was now dark enough for the street lights to be turned on. The sun had almost set and the full moon was visible.
Not many were on the street walking, but cars came from different lanes, joining either in front of behind out limo.
School wasn't as far away from where we were, but if we didn't hurry up, we'd most likely get stuck in traffic.
Whispering brought me back into reality. I tightened my grip as Olivia let out a giggle. I wanted to be able to mame her gigle like that
The two of them had the sides of their heads together. Olivia's had blocked my sight out from seeing their faces.
They're obviously talking about you.
I still dom't understand why Olivia forced me to tag along. She's probably regrets her decision by now seeing as I'm invisible to her.
It's now fully dark, the two 'lovebirds' don't bother turn on the lights for the inside of the limo.
I don't try either, seeing as they want privacy.
Sitting alone at the back of a limo, knowing you're going to prom with no one is one of the worst things ever.
I un clutch my hand and feel the marks I've made. They felt good. I began fidgeting with my fingers, praying we would reach school quicker.
I pulled out my phone, lowering the brightness. I had nothing much on it, no games, just normal apps everyone else would have.
The only numbers that had been put in were, mum's, dad's, Levi's, Ashley's and Olivia's.
I never really talked to anyone else, and if I did it was because I was paired up with someone for a project. Not once had I given any of them my number.
Neither did I have any social media accounts, I didn't see the point getting into drama or bullied.
I would usually spend my day writing down what my imagination has to give, trying to improve my author skills.
Maybe one day I can be one.
Soon enough we entered the school gates. The limo was parked at the entrance of the school.
Many people stared at our car, wondering you would get out from it. This made me anxious, alot of people would see me alone.
Levi got up and smartly opened the door and stepped out, fixing his hair.
He then gave his hand out to Olivia who took it. Levi helped her stand up and out of the car.
I could hear many gasps.
It was my turn now, I quickly got up and out of the car, standing behind the two of them.
I had the urge to turn back and go home but the driver had already taken the limo far enough away from me.
We walked past everyone, I used my coat to hide me as much as possible and keep me warm at the same time.
The school looked different from when I would enter in the morning. It felt weird.
All the lights were on so it was easier to see. We made our way to the gym, which was bigger than our hall and would accommodate enough people and give them their personal space.
Levi and Olivia took their dear time, arm in arm.
The entrance of the gym as lined with red carpet, and you could here the music blaring from the outside. The disco lights were clearly seen from the open windows at the top of the gym.
No one, to my relief, was standing outside the gym.
Heat and the smell of sweat went through me the moment my foot stepped on the floorboard. My instinct was to turn around, but Olivia was a step ahead of me.
She had grabbed my arm and dragged me to a table. Levi stayed back talking to his friends.
"I'm so excited!" She squealed sitting on one the chairs covered in silver silky cloth.
"Yeah," I said, giving her a fake smile. I watched all the pairs dancing to the rock music that was being played. I didn't recognize anyone.
Levi came over, not acknowledging my presence. He let out a hand to Olivia," May I dance with you?"
Liv looked at me and I returned a reassuring look even if I didn't want her to go. Just because I wasn't going to have a good time doesn't mean her night should be ruined.
She looked relived. "I swear I'll be back in five minutes," She yelled as Levi pulled her into the crowd.
Seconds turned into Minutes, and minutes into an hour. I had eventually taken my phone out to carry on writing the story I had started with.
'She yelled till her throat was soar, darkness engulfing her. All those promises had been broken again. Lies. That was all she was surrounded with,' I wrote.
I looked up from my phone as the music changed. People had either wrapped their arms around their partner's neck or waist. Slow song were now being played.
"Ugh," Someone said. I jumped a little. A boy was slumped on the chair Olivia was once in.
I recognized the boy, he was the boyfriend of Chloe Smith - on of the most popular girls in this school.
I remember when Kai had come in as an exchange student from South Korea. He barely knew English, but had all the girls swooning over him. Kai was handsome, it was impossible to deny that. His green eyes stood out the most, perfectly matching with his dark brown hair.
Chloe lured him near to her, telling him if he needed help, she would be there for him. Chloe also began teaching him English.
After a few months, news was spread out that he and Chloe were together - and it wasn't a rumor.
Because of Chloe, after a year, Kai decided to move here permanently.
"You having a bad night as well?" His deep voice asked. His thick accent could be spotted. I looked around for a while to see if he was talking to someone else.
After checking to see that there was no one around me I looked back at him. Kai sighed and brought his eyes to look at mine," I just found out Chloe has been cheating on me for the past month."
He shrugged," I had it coming, though. I was planning to breakup with her tonight."
I didn't say anything as I played with my fingers.
Kai quickly sat up straight, as if an idea had popped in his mind. He got up, and just as I thought he left, he was stood in front of me with his hand out.
"Seeing as we're both having a bad time," He said, "Care to have a dance with me?"
I shrugged and took it, dancing was better than anything right now. My hands slowly went around his neck, and Kai wrapped his hands around my waist. We just moved sighed to side.
"So, what's your name?" He asked me.
"Amy," I replied as our eyes locked.
"You're Levi's sister, aren't you?"
"Sadly," I sighed as Kai let out a small chuckle.
"Well, Amy, it's nice to meet you," He said with a grin," I'm Kai, but you probably already know that seeing how popular I am."
I rolled my eyes at him but smiled back. No one said anything till the song ended and rock music was played once again. I cringed and brought my arms back to my side.
"I'm thirsty," I yelled over the loud music. Kai nodded and led me though the crowd and to the table that had punch. The two of us grabbed a plastic, red cup.
"Cheers," Kai said, bringing his cup near mine.
"Cheers," I replied before gulping down the whole thing. We leaned on the table.
"Moved on from me for a nerd, have you?" Chloe said emerging from the crowd. Her two best friends followed behind.
I bit my lip and looked at Kai. He sent a glance at me before rolling his eyes at Chloe.
"Go away Chloe, you're really not worth it." Kai then threw his remaining punch onto her clothes.
She gasped and quickly turned around to her friends who immediately began wiping it off with their hands.
We walked out the doors, grinning like idiots. The wind hit me and I wrapped my coat around me.
"I'm so glad I'm finally away from Chloe," Kai sighed.
The both of us took a seat on a bench that was put outside the gym.
"Teach me some Korean," I said.
Kai nodded," To say hello, you say annyeonghaseyo."
I repeated after him, hoping I didn't mispronounce anything.
"Yes!" He encouraged," You're a natural!"
I giggled. "So how do you say Amy is the best person in the world?" I teased.
He thought for a while before replying with a smirk," Amyneun sesang-eseo gajang michin salam-ibnida."
"Amy-nun se-sang eso gajang michin tsaramin minida?" I tried to say.
Kai began laughing. I blushed and playfully pushed him, making Kai clutch his stomach.
I buried my face in my hands from embarrassment. "What did I say wrong?"
Kai let himself laugh for a few more seconds before managing to say, "The translation was suppose to be Amy is the craziest person in the world, but you pronounced it wrong and it's funny!"
I couldn't help but pout and once again, I pushed him - this time hard enough for him to fall. A tear of laughter slipped out of his left eye.
"Okay, okay, I'll stop," He said, wiping the tear away and then sitting himself back down next to me.
There was a peaceful silence.
"Who do you think is going to win prom King and Queen?" Kai asked.
"Levi and Olivia," I immediately replied. Kai raised his eyebrows," And what makes you so sure about that?"
I shrugged," Almost Everyone loves Levi. He also threatened the people who don't think he is a 'god'."
It was true. I had overhead Levi say that to the whole cafeteria the day Olivia was absent. He would beat up people if he and Liv didn't win. Not that many minded doing as Levi told them, they all worshipped him.
"Hey - can I have your number?" Kai blurted out. I hid a small smile and shyly nodded yes.
He was trying his very best to hide his excitement, but it was visible. I wanted to laugh at him, but scared to ruin the mood he was in. Kai handed me his phone and I typed in my number.
"So," He said clearing his throat. "Friends?"
"Friends."
