Epilogue

Nova woke up the next morning with a slight pain in her head. She slowly opened her eyes and saw Molly still sleeping next to her. Nova slightly smiled, she thought that all her family was dead, but now, she had her sister. She didn't care if she was adopted or anything like that, she was glad to have an old piece to her puzzle back. Nova crawled out of bed and sat up stretching.

Molly followed slowly behind smelling bacon and eggs. "Hey, sounds like someone made breakfast." She muttered getting out of bed. Molly headed downstairs with Nova to see what was there to eat. The pair saw James and Cameron sitting down at the table together with two plates of food sitting there for the two of them.

"Goodmorning you two," James said with a smile to them. The pair headed to the table to eat with them. Molly was staring at her sister's eyes, they were a bright glowing violet, something that was rather unusual to her. She sat down at the table with her new family. She looked at them and smirked slightly to herself looking down at the food. She took the fork and knife in her hands and took a bite of the food.

"This is good, thank you." She said to them.

"Thank you, Molly," James replied.

"So, uh, what would you like me to call you?" Molly asked him.

"Well, you can either call me James or Dad, whichever you prefer."

"I think I'll call you Dad." She said to him. Molly then looked over to Cameron. "And I'll call you Mom, is that okay?"

"That's perfectly fine sweetie," Cameron replied.

"Hey, Dad, how did we get in my bed if we fell asleep on your ship?" Nova asked him. James smiled brightly, he was so excited to tell her.

"Nova, Cameron and I are engaged!" James exclaimed.

"Wait, really?!" She asked.

"Yes!" He said to her.

"Mom, may I see the ring?" Molly asked.

"Sure, both of you can see it. Your Dad made it himself." She said taking it off and showing it to their adopted children. Molly's eyes seemed to twinkle when she looked at the small gold band.

"Wow, it's beautiful." She said passing it to Nova. Nova took the ring and looked at it in her palms, thinking back to Kathrine, when she would give her a ring like this. James made this himself. It was unique and had two gemstones that seemed to be as intertwined as the people who it belonged to. She could feel a tear go down her face.

"Are you okay Nova?" James asked her.

"Yeah, I'm fine, it just reminds me a lot of our parents." She sniffled. "I never got to see them get married." Molly held her sister tightly.

"It's okay Nova, it'll all be fine." She said to her. Nova returned the hug and handed the ring back over to Cameron.

"So, now that I don't have the threat of death's door over my head anymore, Nova, what do you want to tell me about yourself?" Molly asked her.

"Well, this is kind of a big one, may I be honest with you?"

"Sure, I'd be more than willing to hear whatever you have to say, Nova."

"Well," She said slightly concerned with what she could say next after she revealed the news. "I'm gay."

"You are?" Molly asked. Nova nodded, she was visibly shaking. "Nova, why are you shaking?"

"I'm frightened Molly, I don't know what you're going to say."

"Okay, listen. I have a problem with homosexuality. I do think that it's wrong, I want to get that out of the way." Molly replied. Nova started to cry, she was afraid that this was going to happen. "Nova, you didn't let me finish. I was going to say, every rule has an exception, I will make you that exception Nova." She said to her giving her a hug.

"W-what?" Nova asked confused as to what was going on.

"Nova, you're my sister. Even though I do have problems with one part of you, all of you is more important to me. You're my family, I love you no matter what you are."

"You're serious?" Nova cried.

"I am Nova," She said. "I'm eager to meet your girlfriend if you have one." Molly smiled looking her sister in the eyes, wiping the void light infused tears from her face.

"I-I don't know what to say." She said to her.

"Then just say thank you, ya nerd!" She exclaimed jokingly.

"Thank you, Molly." Nova whimpered. James smiled at the two of them happy that they got this out of the way leading to no unnecessary drama in the future.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It had been several weeks since the death of Skolas and the unification of the fallen houses under Sidriks rule. The relations between the Eliksni and the Last City are rocky at best, and those between the Reef and Eliksni are just as bad if not worse. The assassination attempt on Mara Sov and the event they called The Great Betrayal were still fresh in their minds. As it currently stood, the road to a peaceful relationship between all three would be a long one. James-17, however, didn't rest after the defeat of Skolas unlike most of the others afterward who were celebrating. Sidriks and a good portion of his advisors were in the middle of planning the first festival of the red sun in centuries. Shandri and her friends, Nova and Kathrine, were in the midst of ordering lunch. The restaurant was usually quiet around this time, people often went to the museum around noon.

"Your Dad's amazing you know that?" Katie remarked looking up from the lunch menu placing it down on the table.

"I know that Katie, I know," Nova replied.

"How many times have we talked about this? James is literally one of the most influential people in all of our histories, and not to mention, he's one of the reasons why my Dad came to power in the first place." Shandri remarked to the others taking a sip from her drink. "Seriously, has he ever taken a break? I mean, even once?"

"I don't know," Nova replied sadly. "I've tried to convince him to take a vacation, both Molly and I have,"

"And let me guess, he said no, he can't," Katie replied playfully.

"Exactly! He really needs to take a break, it's starting to show how tired he's getting. Had Molly not accidentally set off the smoke detector this morning he would have slept for the whole day. I swear he tears himself in every direction. There's the Heroes Museum, Tower Eliksni Relations, Tower Reef Relations, and just trying to be a Dad. He's all over the place, he's working himself to death." Nova sighed.

"Jesus, you've told me how hard working he is, but that's a lot of work for one man to handle," Shandri remarked placing her menu down. "But real talk for a sec, how long has it been since he had done something for himself?"

"Well, besides his proposal to Mom, I can't even remember. But even his proposal is something he more than likely did for Cameron rather than himself." Nova remarked placing her menu on the table. Vintagi then walked over to the group with a piece of paper in his hand. "Afternoon comrades, how can I help you three today?" He asked in his usual jolly manner.

"I'd like the BLT, extra bacon," Shandri replied handing him the menu using one of her hands.

"I'd like a cheeseburger, medium rare," Katie told him.

"I'd like some way to get my dad to take a vacation," Nova remarked. Vintagi just laughed in response. "Anything feasible?" He asked.

"Yeah, a meatball sub please," Nova replied.

"Okay, I get those out for you as soon as I can." He replied walking back over to the counter.

"But seriously is there any places that he talks about? Anywhere that he remarks as beautiful?" Katie asked Nova taking a sip of her soda.

"Well, he's talked about a little excursion he had to the Hawaiian Islands as a scouting mission for the vanguard, other than that, that's it."

"Why don't the four of us convince your dad to take a vacation there? From what I heard the golden age Hawaii was a beautiful place." Shandri replied to them.

"Okay, but you said four, were you referring to Molly?" Nova asked.

"Well, we'd need five. The four of us, plus your mom."

"Yeah, if it's anyone who can convince him to do anything, it would be her," Katie replied. "He loves her to death."

"Yeah, talking to my mom would be the best option to convince him to do anything."

"Okay, how about we finish up our lunch first then we go talk to Cameron," Shandri replied to them as Vintagi placed their lunch in front of them.

"Yeah, I could use some food anyway," Nova remarked taking her sandwich in her hands. Katie all the while continued looking at Shandri, "Has anyone ever told you how pretty you are Shandri?" Katie asked her.

"No, why?"

"Because you're a beautiful young woman, that's why" Katie replied.

"Really? Thank you."

"You're welcome, by the way, may I ask you kind of a strange question?"

"Uh, sure?"

"Are you gay?"

"Yes, why?"

"I was just wondering, what's that like in your culture?"

"Well, it's not entirely unheard of by my people. It's just something rare."

"Is it accepted?"

"Accepted? Of course, why wouldn't it be?"

"Well, it's just that it took many years for humans to be accepting of homosexuality. I would think with a culture like yours that may not have happened at all."

"Well, in our culture, it doesn't really matter who you love, or what you do. All that matters is how well you can fight if you need to. In that regard, I'm respected. I'm the daughter of a noble, a Knight, a former commander of an Eliksni battalion. To the others in my society, I'm well desired." Shandri replied earnestly.

"Well, that's interesting, your entire culture interests me. Maybe I should visit, stay for a few weeks, get an understanding as to what your society is about. Perhaps write a little about it."

"Oh, you're a writer?" Shandri asked her.

"Yeah, I've been working on a few alternate history novels. Maybe I could write something more real."

"Interesting, perhaps I could read those sometime? Human history is fascinating to me." Shandri replied.

"Oh, sure! I'd be glad to." Katie said rather quickly.

"Okay, so, Hawaii, what do you guys know about that place?" Shandri asked him.

"Well, from what I learned it was a chain of islands that were populated by the ancient people from Polynesia, under the rule of a monarchy until the country was annexed by the United States. It was a beautiful place, but it was hard to live there. It was unchanged for quite some time. On one of the islands, in particular, you couldn't build higher than the palm trees. That island hadn't changed in centuries, vegetation control kept the plants from overgrowing so it should be untouched." Katie replied.

"Wow, that's cool, we should get them to go there," Shandri remarked.

"Yeah, Kaua'i was called the Garden Island before the collapse, it was gorgeous."

"I'm sure it still is, why don't we finish up here and see if we can get them to go?" Nova asked the two of them.

"I think that would be an excellent idea. It's not far, it's pretty, I'm sure they'd love it." Katie remarked.

"Okay, let's just finish eating and then we'll go talk to them," Nova replied.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

James was in the middle of doing some paperwork at his desk. When he wasn't on other planets or trying to mend the ties between humanity and Eliksni this was where he was. Cameron walked over to him and handed him a ceramic mug full of his favorite coffee.

"Thank you beautiful." He replied with a smile looking up at her from his desk.

"You're welcome handsome." She replied with a little giggle in her voice. She then looked at him with concern, pulling up a chair next to him. "You look tired, when was the last time you slept?" She asked him.

"I'm an Exo Cam, I don't need to sleep," He replied not looking up from the documents.

"James, you aren't built like the others, you seem to need sleep."

"I can't Cam, there's just too much to do." He replied. The couple then heard the door open to the front of the apartment, and the three girls returned from lunch. Molly came in from upstairs to face the pair.

"Hey, girls how was lunch?" James asked them.

"It was nice Dad, but the four of us need to talk to you."

"About what?"

"Mr. Vasquez, you've been working yourself to death, you need to take a vacation," Shandri told him.

"Oh, I haven't been working that hard."

"Dad, you haven't slept in the past three days, and when you do sleep, you sleep the whole day. Even the vanguard want you to start taking some time off."

"Since when do the vanguard give out vacation times?" He asked them.

"Ever since you haven't taken one Dad," Molly replied. "Seriously, you need a break."

James slumped in his chair for a second. "Why don't you two head somewhere nice? Like Hawaii?" Nova asked the two of them. The four of them all stared at James, hoping that he would eventually concede. Cameron placed her arms around his neck and her head over his right shoulder.

"Why don't we head somewhere nice, James. You know, get away from it all and Hawaii sounds like an excellent place to go." She asked him smiling. Nova smirked looking at the two of them. "The power of Mom conquers all." She thought to herself. James sighed and smiled.

"Alright Cam, pack your bags, we're going on a vacation."

"YES!" The four girls screamed in unison. "It's about time Dad," Nova told him.

"I agree, enjoy your time off Mr. Vasquez," Shandri said to him.

"Hey, I'm not a Vasquez just yet," He replied as his fiance gave him a kiss on the cheek before heading back to their room to start packing.

"Well, you might as well be." She replied. "Anyway, I gotta go, my Dad's going to need some help planning the festivities. She said heading off to the hangar to take her ship home. The new Fallen city that had arisen in the middle of Germany had grown significantly since the Houses unified, now they had several housing complexes and businesses. Trade networks between the city and the Elikisni had grown strongly since then.

"Dad, can I ask you something?" Nova had asked James before he headed into his room.

"Yeah Nova?" He replied.

"How long will you be gone?" She asked him.

"I'm thinking we go for about a week, why?"

"I was wondering, I'm seventeen now, and I, uh, love Katie really much and um, I was wondering, may I have her over while you're gone?" She asked sheepishly.

"As long as you clean up after yourselves if you make a mess."

"I will Dad, I promise."

"Okay, have fun, Nova." He said giving her a hug.

"I love you Dad," She said to him returning the hug. "You make sure that you have fun okay?" She asked him.

"I will Nova." He replied clicking the door open. Cameron was just finishing packing her bags, and she placed a swimsuit in there before zipping the bag. "I already packed a bag for you, James, we're all set to go."

"Wow, you're a little eager aren't you?" James asked her.

"I'd like to think of it as an early honeymoon."

"I like the sound of that," James replied smiling. "So, what do you want to do when we get there?"

"Well, Kathrine told me that the best place to go is Kaua'i, it's supposed to be beautiful there."

"That sounds fantastic, but what about when we get there?"

"I have a few ideas."

"Alright, I look forward to hearing them." He said to her taking her bag with his. The pair transmatted up to James' ship with their bags and placed them in a storage compartment inside one of the walls.

"Alright, so what's the occasion of our voyage boss?" Captain asked him eagerly.

"Vacation Captain set a course for Kuai'i,"

"Oh, that's a nice place boss, I'm sure your lady friend will love it."

"Shut up you stupid computer." James joked.

"No, you shut up, Romeodroid." He counter-joked. The group of three laughed as the ship took off for the islands.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The pair spent their entire day walking around the island, exploring the natural beauty that was all over it all the while flirting with each other as a new couple would. The sun was starting to set, and Cameron looked at James then back over to the setting sun. Katie was right, Kaua'i was a beautiful place. They found an old hotel to stay at that was right on the water, it had a large room that was freshly made, and had no real damage to it, the islands were desolate with regards to the typical skeletons that were in other areas on Earth. The pair were sitting on the beach in their swimsuits that were wet from swimming in the shallow water earlier.

"It's beautiful." She said placing her hand on James'. "You seem relaxed, for the past several days before this you seemed so tense. I could feel it when you were asleep. Well, when you did sleep anyway."

"It's very relaxing," James said listening to the sound of the crashing waves on the beach. "I can't believe I didn't want to do this."

"You deserve something for all of the work you've been doing. Engrams and Glimmer aren't enough for all the work that you do. All the lives you've saved aren't worth that stupid payment they give you."

"I think it's more than fair Cameron, besides, the income I get from the books is enough to make up for what you think is missing."

"How could she build you like that?" Cameron asked him.

"What?"

"Most guardians would gloat, trying to place themselves on pedestals. You, on the other hand, seem to just give and give and give. You never once put yourself above everyone else. How on Earth do you do it?" She asked.

"I don't know, it just seems selfish," James replied looking at her.

"You know what?" She said pushing him to the ground climbing on top of him. "You truly are a cut above the rest. I really am lucky to have a man like you in my life." She said wrapping her arms around his neck.

"You think I'm not lucky too Cameron? You make me feel like I won the lottery with every breath you take." James asked her wrapping his arms around her waist.

Cameron smiled. "I think you know what my idea was right?" She told him giving him a kiss on the lips.

"Well I kind of figured, considering the girls aren't around," James said, returning the kiss. "To be honest, I've wanted to do this with you for a long time."

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Cameron...Cameron!" Athena whispered, ramming herself into her guardian.

"Athena, the sun hasn't even come back up, what's wrong?" She groaned, trying to bat the ghost away.

"Oh, I don't know...does you're pregnant seem important enough?"

"What?" She whispered sitting up. "How's that even possible?" She then looked over to him. "He's not even human how did that even happen?" Cameron didn't know what to think. She was incredibly happy that she was going to have a child she could call her own. But confused as to how this could have happened in the first place. Not that she didn't call Nova and Molly her children. She loved them both, but this was her child. One that when nine months passed, she would give birth to.

"I don't know?! I only scanned you to like I normally do, and boom. I find that you are pregnant!" Athena whisper shouted. "I had Ghost examine his body. Apparently, an older systems package was reinstalled when he got his memory back, titled, "Reproductive systems package -01." She said with Cameron looking over to him. He asked that question to himself several times in his personal journal. Now they both knew. "He's just full of surprises isn't he?" She thought to herself.

"What on Earth do I tell him Ath?" Cameron asked her. "What am I supposed to tell the girls, what about our wedding?" She asked her ghost hoping that she would have an answer.

"Okay, step one, calm down," Athena told her guardian. "Step two, just tell him what happened, he'd be overjoyed to hear that you're going to have a baby with him. Three, I'm sure Nova will be happy that she has another sibling on the way. Four, a regular human baby isn't due for another nine months, your wedding is in five, you'll be fine." Athena whispered.

"Cameron...what's wrong?" James asked groggily waking up, sensing Cameron's distress.

"James, I'm, I'm." She stuttered trying to get the words out. "I'm pregnant." She finally said.

It took James a full minute for his brain to process what she said. "You're what?! How?!?" The excitement was evident in his voice, but he was confused. Ghost then floated outward to talk to him. "Apparently your body is producing human genetic material in a form that is compatible with human women." He replied. "An old programming file reactivated when you got your memory back."

"Okay, well...what do we tell the girls?" James asked.

"We tell them that they are going to be having a younger sibling in the next few months I suppose," Cameron replied.

"Wow...we're going to have a baby!" James whispered.

"I'm just as excited as you are," Cameron said getting close to her husband closing her eyes. "I love you." She had said before she dozed off to sleep.

"I love you too Cameron," James said.
