THREE: Too Many F'ing Flowers

They packed up all of the flowers, except the potted ones and took them to the hospital. The receptionist was thrilled at the gesture. They were giving them to the children's wing.

Every child would get some flowers, where they came from wouldn't be important. Ivy was relieved to be rid of them. They rode back to the house. Sebastian pulled into the driveway and sighed.

"Want to go somewhere else?" He watched Ivy.

"What?"

"Do you want to go back into the house or go somewhere?" Sebastian smiled.

Ivy looked at the house. "Somewhere else."

"Okay." He backed out and took off out of town. He took her to the state park and they hiked all afternoon. Ivy chose the most challenging trail and enjoyed the hike.

They didn't talk and Ivy appreciate it. It was a quiet afternoon and she needed it. It was perfect. She started to realize that Sebastian needed it also.

They sat on a cliff and watched birds flying around. There was nothing out here but trees and an occasional hiker. They just sat in silence. Nothing but birds singing and a gentle breeze.

"I leave tomorrow. I am leaving my cell phone number with you. Use it for anything. If you get a hangnail, call me." He was looked at the trees still. "I am never without my phone, Ivy."

Ivy inhaled. "I am not going to bug you, Sebastian. You have a life...."

Sebastian turned to her. "I want you to and if I don't hear from you once a week, I am calling you." He glared.

Ivy stared.

"Okay?"

"Uh, sure. Fine." Ivy sighed. "I'll call." She wasn't planning on it. She knew he was busy and he would forget this conversation.

"I am never too busy." Sebastian knew what she was thinking. "Are you going to be okay?"

"Sure. Eventually. Not soon!" Ivy cleared her throat. She wiped a tear.

"I mean with money and no arguments. I will loan you some if you need it, Ivy. And I said loan!" Sebastian smiled.

Ivy nodded. "Thanks. I'm fine. We had some savings and I do have a job." She wasn't going to tell him that they would have to move because she couldn't pay the rent for this house by herself. She wasn't saying a word.

"You are very stubborn." Sebastian pointed it out.

Ivy laughed. "I am. Really, Sebastian, I am fine. We will be fine. It's just me and Cooper now." She covered her face and shook her head. "I'm sorry."

She cleared her throat and tried to stop the tears. Her daughter just moved to another state. She felt Sebastian wrap his arms around her and pull her close. He didn't say anything. He just let her cry.

"Never apologize, Ivy." He whispered. He felt her wrap around him as she nodded. She buried her face in his shoulder and he tried not to melt.

He understood why his brother married this woman. She was amazing. Perfect. He took a breath to calm down. He can't hit of his brother's wife when they just buried him. He was sad for her and that was all. It was just sympathy. He knew that wasn't it. He kissed her head on accident.

Ivy let go and straighten. "Sorry!" She wiped her face. She wasn't going to look good any time soon.

"I should have just brought tissues with me!" She had to use her shirt to wipe her nose. Whatever. She didn't care right now. They sat in silence until the sun was almost setting.

"I should get you back before it gets too dark out here." Sebastian stood and helped Ivy up and they made their way back to the car. It was dark by the time they found the car. This was a very unexpected day. It was a good day.
