THIRTY-SEVEN: Spying

Ivy was up in the morning, humming. She ate a banana and drank water. Greta was watching her. They sat and had tea. She just had decaffeinated tea. There were health foods in the fridge and vitamin waters. Ivy was watching her health. She even walked for a while in the morning before she opened her shop.

Greta visited and Sebastian was there. She watched. Why was Sebastian there? He came for the funeral, never met Ivy before and now he has an apartment upstairs from her. He was hanging around her shop and even helped out. He rang up customers. What was he doing? Working on a role?

She had a strong feeling that this wasn't work related and all that was left was personal. Sebastian was in love with Ivy. Did she know? Was Sebastian stalking Ivy? She didn't seem to worry and in fact, she seemed to like his company.

They were...dating. Holy Balls. They were dating. Greta almost laughed out loud. She wasn't going to make this easy for them and she would enjoy it.

Sebastian picked up his sister-in-law at the funeral? No. He had more class than that. She wanted the details but that could wait. They were both too afraid to tell her. They were afraid because her opinion mattered. She just wanted her son happy. She smiled. He looked happy, actually.

It was dinner time. Cooper was doing homework and Jake walked in from practice. Cooper was going to stay but it was starting to rain so he walked home early. "I need a shower!" He dropped his gear and started to walk off.

Ivy sighed. "Jake."

Greta watched Jake turn and pick up his gear. He hauled it down to their room. Cooper stood up and picked up things that fell. He started a load of laundry for Jake. She smiled. Cooper was in love. Good.

"I have my schedule for football. Our first game is Saturday. It's away. The bus leaves at four. I will need money for dinner. I have to shower." He walked out.

Cooper sat. "Grandma, how are you today? What did you do?"

"I watched people all day. I actually learned a lot." She smiled at Cooper.

Cooper smiled. "I love to watch people."

Greta smiled. "Me too."

"Cooper, did you finish your homework?" Ivy asked. Greta noticed she was picking up mom for both kids and they were listening. Jake was also. She was intrigued.

"Almost. I am waiting for Jake because I have a question about Social Studies. I hate that class."

"So, how did Jake get to live here?" Greta turned her glass of ice tea.

Cooper smiled. "Well, his parents kicked him out because he was gay. I accidentally gave him a hickey! Moms ask about those things. They assumed it was a girl. I walked in and Jake's dad freaked out."

Greta laughed. "Of course. I see the way you look at each other. I knew when Jake walked into the living room that you were together."

"Grandma! Why didn't you say something?" Cooper glared.

"Oh, I just wanted to see how long you would put up with me going on about girls and I was guessing. Sometimes, I'm wrong." Greta smiled.

Cooper nodded. "Well, not this time. I love him. Sebastian was nice enough to take him in." Cooper looked at the table and sighed. "It was a bad scene, Grandma. His dad hit him. Well, he punched his dad too. Corey was going after me but Jake blocked him and took the fist. I am his."

Greta smiled. "Well, he sounds like a keeper, Cooper. I love him. He is very sexy. He plays football?"

"He is the quarterback!" Cooper smiled. Greta fanned herself as Jake walked in. Shorts and a tank top and wet hair. Greta and Cooper both drooled.

"You are the quarterback?" Greta took a sip of tea.

Jake nodded. "Yes, Ma'am."

"No! Jake, call me Grandma. If you want to. Never can have enough grand kids. Do you have grandparents?" Greta wanted to get to know him.

"I do but we aren't close. They live in Maine. I think they are divorced or something. I only met them once. I had to call them Mr. and Mrs. Benson." Jake sighed. Ivy was cooking and set a glass of tea by Jake. He picked it up and drank it. "Thanks. Thirsty."

"I am buying you some Gatorade for this week. What color?" Ivy turned.

"Blue but I like the white one too. Thanks, Ivy." Jake smiled.

"Welcome. I know that Sebastian isn't used to kids so..." Ivy smiled as the door opened.

"What did I do?" Sebastian walked in. He forgot about his mom and wrapped around Ivy. He kissed her slowly as he realized what he was doing. "Well, damn it." He closed his eyes.

"Hello." Ivy smiled.

"Hi. I picked up the pasta. That is a pain in the ass to find!" He sat. "So, Ivy and I are seeing each other. Sorry, I forgot you were here. Actually, I didn't see anyone else when I walked in."

Greta smiled. "Good. I was right." She looked proud. "Good to know I haven't lost my touch. I suspected that you were seeing each other. How did it happen?"

Ivy sighed. "Greta, I am sorry. I should have told you but I just didn't know how. I didn't want you to think badly of us."
"Why? Did you do it on Damien's grave?" Greta looked concerned.

Ivy gasped. "No! I never...No!"

Greta laughed. "I think that Damien would approve. Sebastian is taking good care of you and you seem happy. I don't see any harm in it, Ivy. I didn't come to judge you. I just wanted to check up and make sure my family was happy."

Ivy nodded.

"So, how did it happen?" Greta smiled and wiggled her eyebrows.

"Mom. No. We are not talking about anyone's sex life. Jake, I bought you blue Gatorade, it was always my favorite. I wasn't sure what color?" Sebastian paused.

"Thanks. Blue is my favorite. I didn't think you would remember." Jake smiled.

"Of course. How is the food? Almost done?" He stood and walked to Ivy. He stirred something.

Greta turned to Cooper. "How is your sex life?"

Jake blushed and Cooper laughed and covered his face. "I can't talk to my grandma about my sex life!"

Greta glared. "Well, why not. I have to live through someone. I bet you are doing it every night. Am I right? Gay sex is so hot!"

"Grandma!" Cooper covered his ears and Jake just laughed.

"I agree. It is hot!" Jake laughed.

Greta turned to Jake. "Damn right. So, are you satisfied?"
"How do you know?" Jake was curious.

"After sex, do you fall asleep and sleep all night, wrapped around Cooper?" Greta had to ask.

Jake smiled. "Yes. When we sleep."

Greta nodded. "Sounds very satisfying. That is tough to come by, Jake. Cooper is a keeper! Never let him go. Are you having orgasms?"

Cooper groaned. Jake laughed and nodded. "I thought that was the idea?"

Greta nodded. "It is but I have had some lovers that didn't do it for me. It's not satisfying. Or you can have satisfying sex with no orgasm but what is the fun of that. If you have a greedy lover, they are the only one satisfied. You have to have equal orgasms to be completely happy with your sex life and in turn with your mate."

"That sounds complicated!" Jake sighed.

"It can be. It isn't supposed to be. Love is simple in its raw form and then we fuck it up!" Greta smiled and Jake and Cooper laughed. "Love is love. A touch, a feeling. Those perfect butterflies in your stomach, the anticipation of just seeing the other person. Goosebumps when they say your name or just from a look. That is when it's fun. Simple."

"We complicate the shit out of it. We try to label it or worry about everything. What if we mess it up or say the wrong thing. All those things that poison our minds and wreck the love. My advice is just love. Don't ever ask why." She winked.

"I will try not to fuck this up, Grandma." Jake inhaled.

Greta smiled. "Very good to know that you are having orgasms. What do they say at school? Do your classmates know?"

Cooper nodded. "They know and no one cares."

"There are three other guys on the team that are gay or bi. No one cared but my parents." Jake smiled. "I even hold Cooper's hand when we walk down the hall."

Greta was pleased. "Good." She talked louder. "Are we ever going to eat?"
