Chapter 22 ━━ Gossip Woman

Kai is cooking food, while Lorna is leaning into the kitchen counter watching him.

"All done." He sings happily as he finishes cooking and looks at her. But then his face falls.

"You look worried." He frowns. He knows her well and that sucks.

"Cause I am." She tells.

"What's wrong?" He asks, looking concerned.

"I'm scared. That you'll break my heart again." She answers him honestly.

He sighs. "I know that I cannot be trusted, but you have to trust me this time."

"I know. But I need time." Lorna put her arms around his neck and playing with his hair.

"Take your time." He smiles. "But not too long, you know that I'm not the man with patience." 

"I know that too." She giggles, which makes Kai laugh too.

"I was kidding. I can wait even until forever. Only for you." He says, making her smile as she kisses him, and that leads two of them to make out passionately.

Kai lifts her up so she's sitting on the counter with Kai's body between her legs. He starts kissing her neck, and the two of them become so consumed in their hook-up that they don't even notice Bonnie standing in the doorway watching them. 

"Oh hey, Bon-Bon." Kai says, making the blonde realise that Bonnie is here. Her cheeks heat up in embarrassment, but Kai continues leaning against her neck like he doesn't care. 

"Sorry. Awkward timing." Bonnie says sheepishly.

"No, no, no, no, it's fine, um." Lorna gets down the counter and fixes her outfit. 

"I'll be outside if you want me." Kai gives her one last kiss before he leaves Bonnie and her to talk. 

Lorna looks at Bonnie nervously as she hears Kai walking out of the house.

"Is he the reason why you suddenly vanished from the party yesterday?" Bonnie glares at the blonde.

"Um...yeah?" She answers sounds mostly like a question.

"What the hell, Lorna?! Do you want me to list down the things he did to you?!" Bonnie yells furiously.

"He has changed, Bonnie."

"How can you be sure that he isn't faking?" Bonnie asks and Lorna keeps herself silent as her cousin laughs. "No answer. Right?" 

"But I believe him. I want to give him another chance." Lorna states.

"Oh really? Then do whatever you want! I'm warning you. Stay away from that sociopath. Don't come after me crying and telling me how he broke your fragile heart for the millionth time!" Bonnie yells and looks at Kai who just arrives looking confusedly.

"Is everything okay here?" He asks, looking between them.

"Yeah. It became better now." Bonnie says annoyingly and stalks past him out of the house angrily.

Lorna sighs and looks at her feet. Is she repeating the same mistake?

Kai notices her upset face and pulls her into a hug. She adjusts herself in his arms, but suddenly he pulls apart and runs to the bathroom. She runs after him to see him throwing up blood into the toilet. 

"Oh my god, Kai! It's blood!" Lorna panics as she rushes next to him and rubs his back.

"Stay away from me. This is gross." He says weakly and throws up again. "Ah, I feel like I'm dying."

"Did you eat something bad yesterday?" She asks him.

"Call, Jo." He says and starts to throw up again. 

"I will." Lorna nods quickly and rushes back to find her phone.

Lorna finds herself with Kai currently standing in front of Jo's apartment. Actually, Kai can't even stand straight on his own. She rings the doorbell and waits for someone to open the front door which Alaric does.

"Hey." Kai says, but Alaric tries to shut the door. "Wait, wait, wait, wait." Alaric opens the door. "Look. I know you hate me, but I really... really need to see my sister."

"I think she'll pass." Alaric says and he notices the blonde. "What are you doing with him? Come in." 

Lorna walks inside as Kai starts to follow her, but Alaric stops him. 

"Not you, dude. I only invited her." 

Before the blonde can't even say anything, Alaric tries to shut the door again. But luckily when Jo appears at the door, he leaves it open.

"Hey, Lori." Jo greets me with a hug, which she gladly returns to her. She then notices Kai. "What are you doing here?" 

"I called to tell you I was sick, and you-you hung up on me." Kai answers.

"Because I have food poisoning. Did the sound of me vomiting on the other end of the line not clue you in?" Jo questions.

"Look. There's an issue I've been worried about since the merge because we really didn't do it right. You know, the whole, 'You're not my twin', 'Hey. That's okay. Close enough' plan? It worked, which is, you know, cool. Hey, I'm even a little bit nice now in case you were wondering. But I've been waiting for the other shoe to drop. And, well, I think it's dropped because I'm- Where's the bathroom?" Kai starts vomiting blood.

"Oh, God! Ric!" Jo yells in horror. 

"Here." Alaric gives Kai something to vomit into and Kai loses his balance, but Lorna catches him at the time and helps him to sit on a chair. Alaric and Jo look concerned.

"I don't think you have food poisoning. I was supposed to merge my magic with you. But I got Luke's instead. Ohh. Now I'm defective, and I think that's why you're sick. I kind of feel like I'm dying, actually. And if I die, so do you, dad, Liv, and the rest of our dumb coven. So could you please fix me, like, now?" Kai requests his twin sister.

Jo nods and walks to Kai and begins to give him a checkup. "Any joint pain?" 

"Mm-hmm." Kai nods.

"Headaches?" Jo asks.

"Yup." Kai answers.

"Are you pregnant?" Jo asks, making Lorna burst into laughter.

"Ask her." Kai gestures at the blonde. "She's the one responsible if I'm." 

Lorna smacks his head playfully. "Shut up."

"What?...you two are not the only people who can joke. I feel like I'm being scrunched from inside out." Kai says to Jo and the blonde he loves while rubbing his head. He turns to Jo. "This is kinda private. Does your baby-boo need to be here?" 

"I'm not leaving her alone with you, so deal with it." Alaric speaks up.

"Lorna is here. Besides, I'm sick and weak. I'm here to ask for help from my sister. Not to kill her."

"I get that you somehow managed to make Lorna believe you, but I'm not stupid enough to leave Jo with you just because you suddenly turned into a good guy." Alaric says and Kai opens his mouth to talk, but Jo cuts him off.

"Okay. Your vitals are fine, your temperature is normal. I'll wait on pathology, but there is nothing medically wrong with you."

"Yeah, duh, because I'm magically diseased. You haven't puked in at least-" Kai begins and stands up.

Jo realises that Kai is about to vomit blood. "Oh!" Jo goes to get a trash can for Kai. As he is vomiting, he grabs Jo's arm and absorbs some of her magic.

"Hey, hey!" Alaric pulls Kai off of Jo.

"Oh. I feel better." Kai says with some kind of relief.

"Yeah because you juice-boxed my magic." Jo says.

"Yeah, sorry about that. That was an accident, but I-wow! I legitimately feel better. You need to give me your magic." Kai requests her.

"What?" Jo asks.

"This faux merge is clearly failing because I was supposed to get your magic, right?" Kai gets up toward Jo, but Alaric stands in front of him. 

"Just- I don't know- put it in a teddy bear or a bedpan and gimmie." Kai reaches out his hand and the blonde smiles at Kai's cute behaviour. 

Alaric grabs Kai's hand. "Listen. I could just as easily break seven little bones with one good squeeze, okay?"

"I can see you're skeptical, Ric. Can I call you Ric? Hey, buddy, but here's the thing you need to know is that Jo only survives if I do, okay? I see vacancy. Would you like me to start over with single syllables?" Kai asks Alaric.

Lorna turns to Jo who's looking like she's arguing with herself. "Jo, please help him. At least for me."

"She's under his spell. You have to think before you take the decision." Alaric says to Jo.

Lorna opens her mouth to say that Kai hasn't done any spell on her. He promised her that he'll never control her powers again or hurt her again in any way. She links her hand with Kai's to assure him that she believes him and she will be with him in anything. Even if she has to get into her knees and plead Jo for Kai's life, she's gonna do it without thinking twice.

"I really don't have a choice." Jo says to Alaric.

"Of course you have a choice. It's your magic to give or not give." Alaric states.

"What do you think I should do?" Jo asks him.

"Look, my life is full of martyrs who cave to the bad guy, trying to be heroes, and it never ends well. Somebody inevitably gets hurt or dead, and that somebody could just as easily be you, or Bonnie regardless, no matter what you do. So, if you wanna fight and keep your magic, I will fight with you. And if not, well... I loved you when you weren't a witch, and I'm pretty sure I will still love you regardless." Alaric explains.

"Pretty sure?" Jo asks him.

"Yeah, at least 92%." Alaric kisses Jo's forehead and they hug.

Lorna smiles at them. They're a cute couple and she's totally happy for them. 

She feels Kai squeezing her hand, making her look at him. He's looking down at her with full of love in his eyes, resulting in her to lose herself in his eyes.

"Let's do this." Jo announces, cutting off their moment into two.

"Ahh. Me, our coven, and...my girl-" Kai hugs his blonde. "-thank you."

She giggles and hugs him back.

Kai turns to Jo. "Congrats. You're saving their miserable lives from oblivion." 

He pinches Jo's cheeks. "Oh, don't look so stressed." 

Jo shakes him off, rolling her eyes at him.

"You never liked being a witch anyway." Kai adds happily.

"Shut up." Jo places her hands on Kai's cheeks. "Oribos turai manecsitus. Orbiem. Oribos turai. Oribos turai manecsitus. Orbiem."

"It's done." Jo says as she finishes giving Kai her magic.

"Ahh. Thank you." Kai beams. "And congratulations."

Jo looks confused, so Kai whispers into her ear. "Have a good life, Sissie."

Jo looks shocked and happy at the same moment. Alaric and Lorna look between them confusedly. 

"What is it?" Lorna asks Kai who comes to her.

"You're too small to know about that stuff." He smirks.

"What?" She asks him.

"Come on, Let's go home!" Kai squeaks enthusiastically and picks her up in the bridal style and rushes out of the apartment before she even gets time to say thank you or a simple goodbye to Jo and Alaric.

"Put me down, Kai!" She yells playfully, making him finally place her on her feet. 

"What is it?" She asks him again as they start to walk to her car.

"I told you, you're still a small girl to know big people's stuff." He pinches her cheek.

"I'm old enough, okay?" She crosses her arms and stops at her tracks.

"You're lucky you're so adorable because sometimes you can be super annoying." He says and she giggles, which makes Kai laugh too.

"Just tell me please." She pouts using her puppy face this time.

"Fine." He gives up. "Stop making that face."

She smiles at him innocently.

"You're such a gossip woman." He rolls his eyes and kisses her cheek. "Jo's pregnant."

"What?! Oh my god! I want to go Congrats to them." Lorna excitedly turns to run back into the house but Kai stops her by grabbing her arm.

"No. No. At least not now. Let them have their moment."
