Chapter 15
Chapter 15 ━━ Tragic Scene
━━━━━━━━☆★☆━━━━━━━━
Lorna wakes up and blink her eyes rapidly when she starts to hear one and only Kai Parker's voice.
"See, we never went out to dinner when I was a kid, so, I always had this fascination with chefs and fine dining. Dad actually let me cook... Taught me to measure by eye. Seasonings to taste, all that stuff, but it's different now in the restaurant world. Everything's on time. It's like, the fries go in, you push a button, it dings and you take 'em out. Literally no guesswork."
She tries to struggle to get herself out from the ropes, making her end up burning herself. The ropes are soaked in vervain. "Why am I here?"
"Uh, well I spent eighteen years in abandoned restaurants and now I'm showing off the fruits of my labour." Kai starts eating eggs.
"I don't mean the Mystic Grill." Lorna says.
"Oh, you mean like, here here, in Mystic Falls." He laughs. "Sorry, I'm nervous. You're like, really pretty. I really needed to see you again. We were in love back at Prison World and I missed you."
Lorna knows that he doesn't mean anything. It's just another lie coming out of the master of lies.
"Why am I here?" She repeats her question, ignoring his nonsense.
"Well, I took the spell that was keeping supernaturals out of Mystic Falls and me, I like absorbed it...Like ate it, I guess." He takes another bite. "It's cool, huh? First I eat magic, and then eventually, I lose it. But a huge spell like that? I mean, come on. Magic's oozing out of me, it's all over the place. You know, I didn't quite realise I was out of control until I met the manager of the Grill a few hours ago. And he was all like, 'Hey, you can't come in here; we're closed. And you have an unconscious girl over your shoulder."
She laughs sarcastically, unamused.
"And then I was like, 'Don't judge me.' And then I gave him a heart-attack-tried to, but all I did was make him vomit uncontrollably, which was like, ugh, let's stop that."
She stares at him, disgusted.
"So then I tried again and I think I broke his spine? I mean, I'm not, I'm not really sure, because the third time I tried the spell, he kinda exploded in blood. Whoops." He takes another drink of coffee.
"What the hell is wrong with you?" Lorna asks him.
"I just told you, I have too much magic." He says, making her shake her head. "You know, it wasn't until after my test run with the manager that I realised, if I start to merge with Jo and my gushing fountains of magic turn her into that guy, then I'm not gonna have a twin for the merge. So, Lorna, that is why you are here." He takes another bite from his food. "Because I need to get my magic under control."
She glares at Kai. She wishes to have laser powers in her eyes, so she can burn him right now.
"By practising with you. Or rather, by practising on you."
She starts to panic and horrified.
"Oh, PS. Silver lining, after the manager finally stopped thrashing around, I finally managed a cloaking spell. Thank you." He takes a drink of orange juice as the blonde keeps her glare still. "It's easy to do and...undo. Phasmatos oculix."
The Dead manager appears on the table in front of her, making her gasp and scoot back in her chair, horrified.
"Table for three." Kai laughs. "You had no idea. "
Lorna panics as she looks around for something that can help her. Then she remembers that I'm a witch for god's sake.
"Fractos." She tries to break off the vervain rope that is binding her to the chair. But nothing happens. She confusedly looks back at Kai who's smirking at her knowingly.
"Motus." She spells at Kai. But he just stands in his spot without any harm. Damn. She tries to use her vampire strength, but she realises that she no longer has her vampire abilities inside her either. "Come on."
"Poor thing. Looks like my girl lost her powers once again." Kai pouts.
"I'll let out a dirty little secret for you. I know that this seems a little bit weird." He says. "But...I can control your magic and vampire abilities without even touching you. It sucks that I can't take it all out of you, but I like the control I have on you."
"Just like I did with your sweet feelings." He adds, caressing her cheek and leans. "But on that subject, I kind of used my handsome figure and a little of my charms." He whispers to her ear, making her shiver.
"Just let me go." She starts to sob, not wanting to be a part of his games anymore.
Lorna wakes up and her hands are now bound to the ceiling in the hallway this time.
"We're in my high school?" She asks Kai, who is standing nearby.
"They have plenty of restrooms, no flammable surfaces, and everyone's on winter break...Still. You know, it's no wonder America got dumb while I was locked up, they're never in school." He says, looking at pictures in the trophy case of the cheerleading squad, grinning. "Is that you? Oh, and there's Bonnie. You guys look so innocent. Smiling, like nothing bad could ever happen to you."
Lorna tries to pull herself free, while Kai is distracted. But for her unluckiness, he straightens and looks back at her. "Why can't you care about an inanimate object, but not the people that you kill?"
"Oh. Is this going to be like an episode of 'Ricki Lake' where I come face-to-face with my demons and change for the better?" He asks her.
"Have you really not cared about anyone?" She asks him and Kai looks nostalgic.
"I guess I liked my brother, Joey. We played Dr Mario together and he'd always win. Actually, one of my favourite memories is when I finally beat him."
Kai smiles slightly, making her smile with him. She can imagine little him winning the game and screaming in happiness.
"Of course, my favourite memory is when I finally beat him to death." He adds making her stop smiling and look disgusted.
"You don't have to waste your energy trying to change me. If Ricki taught me anything, it's that liking yourself is the most important thing. And I like me." He says.
"Anyway, do you mind if I try to turn your blood into acid again?"
Lorna looks at him in surprise. "Again?"
Kai takes off his jacket. "Yeah, that's uh, that's kinda how you got here in the first place." He throws his jacket on the floor. "I was trying the whole acid-blood thing and I think I burst a few important capillaries in your brain, because you blacked out."
"Kai, you don't have to do this. Listen to me, you don't have to do this. Aren't you satisfied with the misery you put me back in the Prison World?"
"Phasmatos navaro pulsus sanguinox."
"Ow!" She yells in pain.
"Phasmatos navaro."
"Stop!" She yells once again.
"Sanguinox."
Lorna looks at her engagement ring in horror as it slowly melts away. "My ring. Kai, you're melting my ring."
"Phasmatos."
"Kai, stop it!" She yells for the billionth time.
"Navaro pul-"
Lorna finally pulls herself free, bringing the lights crashing down. She runs into the closest room, which is a chemistry classroom as Kai slowly follows, annoyed. She doesn't give a damn about the daylight ring. But she wants that engagement ring.
"No, no, no, no. No, no, no." She reaches the sink and rinses off her hand but the ring is gone. "No. No."
"Take it, that ring meant something to you? Ooo. I get it. Isn't that the engagement ring Stefan gave to you? I think you're better off without it." Kai says and looks around for something to use against Kai.
"I never understood sentimental attachments to things, because then it's so upsetting when you lose them." He adds.
Lorna puts her hand in the sunlight until she catches on fire, then uses the gas from the chem lab with the fire and the fire hits Kai. She then takes the chance to run through another door into a classroom and use the emergency phone to call Damon.
In the first ring, he answers the phone. "Magic camp. How may I help you?"
"Damon, Kai has me at the high school. I need your help." She frantically answers.
"Whoa. Ness?" Damon responds and she hears a crash. Kai is nearby. She hangs up and runs to the door, but when she opens it, Kai is standing there making her fall backwards.
Kai tries to break her neck using his magic but keeps moving other things around instead where Lorna is crawling backwards away from him as soon as she can.
"Really?" Kai walks toward her and tries again, but knocks over something else. "Dammit."
Lorna tries to get up but suddenly screams in pain as her leg starts to open with a wound.
Kai does a victory fist and walks to stand over her. "Bingo."
Even though it hurts a lot, the blonde drags herself backwards from him, making him smirk evilly.
"Why are you playing with my life, Kai? Please let me go." She begins to beg him. "Please."
"But I love to play this game with you." He taunts Lorna and tries to keep herself without breaking down in front of him, but she fails. "Oh, come on. Crying doesn't suit your beautiful face."
She ignores him and continues to cry.
"God, you're so annoying sometimes." He hears him saying, before she blackout. Again.
Lorna wakes up to see herself still laying on the floor of the previous classroom. Her whole body is aching right now, making her groan in pain, but she finally manages to sit on the floor with a lot of effort.
"Welcome back, sweetheart." Kai is standing over her wearing a Mystic Falls Timberwolves shirt and drinking a soda. He grins. "Nice shirt, yeah? Somebody burned my other one. Which was awesome, by the way. Oh, it sucks about that shirt, though."
If Lorna is not in pain she might have given him a sarcastic smirk.
Suddenly Stefan bursts into the classroom, making her sigh in relief for a second.
"Here comes the mighty hero." Kai mutters to himself.
"Let her go!" Stefan yells at Kai. He looks extremely angry.
"Hello, Stefan. We haven't met officially before. I'm Kai Parker. Your brother's old pal and your girlfriend and I were friends with benefits." Kai says the last part with a thrilling voice. That makes Stefan vampire speed at Kai and grab him by his throat.
"Glad to meet you. I was searching you all this time to rip your limbs out of you one by one." Stefan grits his teeth. "It'll be a hell of a party. Don't you think so?"
Kai laughs. "Definitely, friend. So...you're here to save your girl?"
"Yes." Stefan glares at him and squeezes his neck, even more, making Kai gasp for air.
"Ah. Be Careful with my neck. Take her with you." Kai says, making Stefan let go of his neck and rushes to the blonde.
"Are you okay?" Stefan asks her.
She shakes her head signalling a 'no' and snuggles herself into Stefan's chest before starting to cry.
"Shh...it's okay. Let's go home." Stefan says, wrapping his arms around her and kisses her head.
She nods, only to notice Kai, who's still standing in his spot watching them… jealousy? Really? Out of every single emotion he chooses to be jealous?
Lorna pulls apart from Stefan as he tries to help her up.
Kai speaks up. "How did you even forgive her for what she did?"
The couple look at Kai, who is wearing a smirk, which he's fully aiming towards the blonde, who looks at him in horror. He's going to say everything. And that can't happen.
"Stefan, let's go. I don't want to be near him anymore." Lorna says to her fiance. But before Stefan response, Kai speaks up once again.
"Can't face the bitter truth now. Can you?"
"Kai, stop it!" She yells.
"Why should I? Your boyfriend has a right to know your sins." Kai says and Stefan looks between the two in confusion.
Kai smirks at Lorna as she shakes her head signalling him not to say anything to Stefan as she desperately mouths, "no, please."
"She's so good in bed, isn't she?" Kai ignores her and turns to Stefan. "We had a lot of fun in the prison world. That was wow."
Stefan's expressions change in seconds at Kai's words and vampire speeds to Kai and throws him to the floor. Kai groans in pain as he hits the floor hard. But that never stops Kai.
"She's so..." Kai dramatically moans at the nostalgia. "...amazing. I still can't get those moments out of my head, I swear."
Lorna cowers, not wanting to face what's ahead of her. Her emotions are everywhere. She hates Kai for dragging her into this uncomfortable situation. She just hates him.
As Stefan steps towards Kai, he pulls up his sleeves. "You should burn in hell! Who gave you the guts to touch my girl?!" Stefan kicks him so hard. "How could you?!"
Kai laughs. "You sounds like I raped her. I politely asked her permission at first like a gentleman. And she says, 'yes."
That makes Stefan stop kicking him and looks even confused. "What?"
"Well, actually she nodded with an eager expression. And I took that as a 'yes' since no one nodded back at my time to say, 'no." Kai says and Stefan turns to the blonde.
Lorna feels ashamed of herself. I want to hide somewhere. Anywhere else so she can hide from Stefan.
"Is it true?" Stefan's voice cracks.
Lorna starts to cry. "I'm sorry, Stefan."
"Just give me the damn answer, Lorna!" His voice makes her flinch this time.
Her whole body is weak and she doesn't have any energy to go through this mess. She closes her eyes and sighs. "Yes."
When she looks back at him, Stefan is already giving her a disappointing and hurt expression.
"Stefan, I-I can explain." She reasons. "I'm so sorry. Stefan, please-"
"Just stop, okay?!" His angry voice cuts her off. His eyes are glistening with tears. "I'm done."
A loud sob escapes her lips. This is her fault. These are the consequences of her sins. "No, Stefan. Please don't do this."
"WE ARE DONE!" Stefan yells, before he vampire speeds away.
"NO!" I sob harder.
"Oops!" Kai smirks victoriously. "That was a tragic scene."
Lorna continues to sob, crawling and leaning to the cold wall.
