Chapter 12 ━━ Heartbreaks

Lorna wakes up to see herself in between Kai's arms. He's already awake and watching her.

"Hey." She smiles.

"Hey." Kai says.

"When did you wake up?" She asks him and he shrugs.

"An hour ago."

"Why didn't you go for a shower then?"

"I like watching you." He trails his hand down her face. "You look innocent in your sleep."

Lorna place her hand on his hand. "Don't underestimate a girl with an innocent look." I kiss his hand making him smile. "Trust me, I can be your worst nightmare."

"I like nightmares." He smirks, making her playfully slap his face.

Then Lorna decides to get up from the bed and stand in front of the mirror. The reflection shows her with a whole lot of hickies all around her neck. She pouts as she examines them. "Why aren't I healing?"

"It must be something with the prison world. The more days you spend here, you'll lose your vampire powers." He answers, watching her from the bed.

"There is still space remaining on your neck. How about we make more of them?" Kai asks, making her chuckle.

FLASHBACK - MAY 9, 1994, PORTLAND.

Jo lies on the ground, a knife stuck in her abdomen. In the distance, screams and whimpering are heard while Kai calls out.

"Josette. Where are they?"

Jo pulls the knife out, sobbing quietly.

"Oh, Jo. Come on out, Jo. I know you can hear me."

Jo gets up, dripping blood on the floor. She walks to the next room and sees two young children hiding.

"Josette? Where are they, Jo?"

Jo whispers to the children. "Hey. Everything's gonna be OK, all right? Everybody's just playing a game. You guys want to play a game? You want to play hide-and-seek? Shh. OK."

Kai follows Jo's trail of blood. "Come on out, Jo. You know I won't kill you." Kai walks slowly into the bedroom where Jo and the children are hiding under the bed. He starts to walk away after a minute, but then comes back and lifts up the bed.

After their little talk in the bedroom, they go on two full rounds of intense love making because Kai suddenly decides to flip into his horny mode. And then he makes that three in the shower.

Being the perfect gentleman, he then makes breakfast as Lorna is watching him. After breakfast, they're currently in the kitchen doing the dishes after breakfast.

"Don't you want to hear how my story ends?" Kai asks as he places the last dish.

"I've read the newspaper. You murdered your siblings, and your coven sent you to live in this prison world." She shrugs.

"My family sent me to this prison world. My father, the great coven leader... he treated me like crap for 22 years and then locked me here. It's like his... like his kids didn't even matter. Coven always came first no matter what." Kai says sadly.

Outside the house, Jo stumbles toward the tree stump, carrying the knife as Kai calls out.

"Olivia, Lukas?"

Jo stashes the knife beneath some leaves in the stump.

"Olivia? Lukas? Come out, come out, wherever you are." Kai walks out onto the porch and into the yard.

"Stop! I'll do it. I'll merge with you. Just don't hurt anyone else." Jo gives up.

Kai and Lorna walk in the front yard toward a tree stump.

"So Jo agreed to the merge?" She asks him.

"Well, we needed a celestial event, so the plan was to use the power of the eclipse happening the next day. She even gathered our coven to help." Kai continues.

Jo and Kai stand in the centre of a large circle of coven members.

"The power of the eclipse will merge us as one. You know what to say?" Jo asks.

"Been practising my whole life." Kai grins whilst they take each other's hands, close their eyes and begin to chant.

Jo, Kai chant in unison. "Sanguinem desimilus... Sanguinem generis fiantus."

But nothing happens.

Kai looks at Jo, puzzled. "I don't feel anything."

Jo feigns ignorance, and closes her eyes, as though they should try again.

Kai chants alone. "Sanguinem desimilus... Sanguinem generis fiantus."

Kai opens his eyes to find Jo looking at him, she doesn't look surprised, but rather as though she knows exactly why it isn't working.

"Josette, what did you do? Why can't I feel your magic? And why aren't they saying anything? They should be saying something. They should be saying something, right? We're merging. This should all be a bigger deal." Kai squeaks in anger.

Suddenly Kai's father, Joshua appears, holding the Ascendant and stepping forward from the circle of the coven around them.

Kai shouts in pain and drops to his knees as Joshua begins a different spell.

"Sanguinem filio, sanguinem effurgarex perpetuum. Sanguinem filio, sanguinem effurgarex perpetuum."

"Aah! Aah!" Kai yells in pain, holding his head.

"Phesmatos filio, phesmatos effurgarex perpetuum." Joshua continues the spell while Kai lies on the ground, as though pinned down, and whimpers.

"They tricked me good. Instead of using the power of the eclipse for the merge, my dad used it to send me here, and where'd Jo's magic go? You know, it made zero sense. Magic doesn't just, like, disappear, but then you made yours disappear when you hid it in Ms Cuddles, and it hit me. My sneaky little twin sister hid her magic..." Kai reaches into the pile of leaves in the tree stump and withdraws the knife. "In this. Hmm."

"Still there." Lorna eyes the knife.

"Still here and still full of magic." Kai closes his eyes and the blonde backs away slightly.

After a few seconds, Kai sighs and lets go of the knife, leaving it floating in midair. "Well, it was. I just sucked it out."

"You have magic again. Good for you." She chuckles nervously.

"I have everything with me." Kai says.

She half-laughs. "What are you talking about?"

"I have the Ascendant." Kai says.

"Doesn't matter. You need a Bennett witch to do the spell." She says, sensing that someone bad is gonna happen.

"About that. I've watched you and Bonnie do the spell twice now. I don't think I need a Bennett witch to do the spell. I think all I actually need is Bennett blood." Kai speaks creepily.

Lorna steps back, scaredly, where he watches her reaction and suddenly bursts into laughter. She gives him a confused look.

"I was kidding." He laughs, waving his hand in the air. "You had to see your face."

What?

"You scared me." She shakes her head and starts to laugh along with him. "I thought that you were going to kill me."

"Kill you? Me? How can I kill the person I love?" He pouts. "So, you don't trust me. Do you?"

She smiles. "I do. I trust you more than I trust myself."

"Then come here. I want to kiss you." He smiles, making her nod and run to his arms. And then they start to make out. How can someone be so amazing? She can feel his hands moving all around her body making her want to moan harder.

"Mmm...I can do this all day." Kai moans in pleasure through the kiss and unexpectedly, he stabs her with the knife, making her gasp and fall to the ground. "But the time is going so fast."

Kai smirks as she whimpers in pain. "What did you think, princess? That I will fall in love with you?"

Tears stroll down her face. He was faking everything. Her heart is hurting more than her injured stomach. Her lips quiver. She never felt heartbroken like this. "Why?"

"That's called sweet vengeance, princess." He smirks and leans down to her level. "But I'll tell you a true fact."

"Even in death bed, you're the prettiest thing I have ever seen, babe." He whispers to her and she glares at him with hate, making him chuckle. "You know what? I love the next part of this story which includes me going back and meet my family and all of them go poof."

Lorna coughs blood as she feels her background along with Kai and his voice fading slowly. She focuses on his lips to read what the hell he's nonstop saying but it's not clear. And then, everything goes black.

Not noticing this, Kai continues to ramble out of his senses. "Why are the Bennetts witches always a pain in ass? If you just helped me to get out of this hell, I would have been killing you in a better way. Look what you made me do to you?"

He glances at the blonde to see her eyes closed. He shakes her to find her unconscious. "Aww...my girl is sleeping like a small baby. Just look at her cuteness."

"Thank you for the help and the entertainment, princess." He says to her even though she can't hear him. "And goodbye, Lorna Eclipse."

He chuckles and begins to walk away. But suddenly, something hit him straight into his heart. He groans loudly and looks back at the unconscious girl who is still laying on the ground.

Kai sighs and walks to her, before kneeling down next to her. He takes the knife out of her abdomen and picks her in bridal style. "It's hard to resist you, princess. Looks like you can join me on the trip."
