Chapter 32
Calvin brought a gun to school, he tucked it away in the waist band of his pants since his back pack was to full with all of his books. He took his dads silencer and attached it to the gun. His dad taught him all about guns at a young age because he liked to take him out on hunting trips as one of their father-son bonding trips. So he had the experience needed to get a good shot. Justin went to the bathroom and Calvin tip-toed in right behind him unnoticed. He stood in front of the stall with the gun pointed at the door level with where Justin's head would be. When he came out he looked straight into the barrel and laughed. "Didn't your parents ever teach you not to play with guns? Go ahead big boy pull the trigger!" Justin said with a smile that resembled his mother's. That sweet comforting smile that made you feel safe and scared at the same time. Calvin hesitated, with a bead of sweat making it's way down his forehead stopping at the edge of his eyebrow. "Are you just going to stand there? Do it sissy girl! Pull the fucking trigger! Your running out of time, the bell is about to ring and someone could walk in here at any moment." Justin taunted him.
Justin looked at his wrist as if he was checking his watch, "5, 4, 3, 2, 1..." Justin counted, the bell rang and he lunged forward knocking the gun from Calvin's hands and began pounding his fists into Calvin's face yet again. A teacher walked into the bathroom and seen the fight. He immediately ran in to stop it and he stepped on the gun, a bullet escaped the barrel and busted the sink causing water to spew everywhere uncontrollably. A crowd of students formed watching Justin and Calvin fight and Mr. Beal struggling to get on his feet and falling backwards from the harsh spray of the water. The principle was called to the bathroom by another teacher and together they stopped the fight and pulled Mr. Beal out of the bathroom. The janitor went in and stopped the water and locked the bathroom up until they could get a new sink.
The cops were called to the school since there was a gun involved along with Calvin's parents and Jack and May. Calvin's parents whooped his ass right in front of everyone in the office. Jack and May sat quietly with Justin patiently waiting to hear what happened. Justin told them Calvin pulled a gun on him and he beat him up. Calvin objected with tears rolling down his face and his ass stinging from his fresh punishment from his dad. "You put the gun in my face you liar!" Calvin screamed. "Son, do I have to whoop your ass again? That is my gun. I don't know this kid, I have never seen him before. So, either you are lying or this kid mysteriously found out where we live, got in unnoticed, found my hiding spot for my gun case key, and stole the gun some time in the night." Calvin's dad said. "I want to know what happened and why right now!" The principal chimed in. "Well, this isn't our first fight. We have been fighting every since I got the girl he wants. So, now he is jealous and trying to get me out of the picture so he can have her." Justin admitted.
"All of this over a girl?" The principal asked shocked. Justin and Calvin nodded their heads. "What is her name?" "Kimberly Andrews." Calvin answered. The principal called Kim to the office to find out what her roll was in the situation. When she got to the office she noticed Calvin first, he looked embarrassed, mad, and like he wanted to cry all wrapped up in an abused, emotional burrito. Then she looked over at Justin, he was smiling at her and kicked back in the chair just as relaxed as he could be. She smiled back at him and walked to the principal's desk. "Ms. Andrews, I'm sure you know these two boys." The principal began. "Yes sir." "Do you know why they are in here?" He asked. "No sir." "Ok, you may go back to class, thank you." He finished. Kim looked at him confused and tuned toward Justin, she gave him a questionable look, shrugged and went back to class with every intention on asking Justin what happened after school. "Well, that was a waste. Why did you pull her out of class for that?" Justin asked. "Young man, you are in hot water right now and I suggest you refrain from being smart with me." The principle snapped. "Pardon me your majesty, but I wasn't being smart with you, it was a simple question. She could have been taking a timed test or something and you just interrupted her." Justin said. The principal squinted his eyes at Justin and folded his hands placing them lightly on his desk turning himself straight towards Justin. "You know what, I believe she had a roll in this. I think you two were fighting because of her. I figure, since you are standing up for her and Calvin is sitting quietly, and when she came in the two of you smiled at each other, you are dating her and Calvin got jealous. Am I close?" Justin smiled and nodded his head.
"Yea, I thought so. Now, lets turn our attention to Calvin. What was the purpose of bringing a gun to school? Were you just going to scare Justin with it, or were you really going to shoot him?" The principal asked. "I wanted to shoot him." Calvin mumbled. "Why didn't you?" Justin asked. Calvin looked up at Justin and gave him a go to hell look. "I think we all want to know the answer to that." Calvin's dad chimed in. "He stood there like a damn lump with the gun in my face. I kept telling him to pull the trigger, chicken shit." Justin said. May placed her hand on his shoulder and whispered for him to stop talking. The cops joined the conversation and unfortunately for Justin the police that showed up were the same ones that had been dealing with him since the very first time he got in trouble with the law. They put him in handcuffs along with Calvin and drove them to Juvenile Hall.
Jack and May were extremely upset with the situation and thought Justin should be let go since he was only defending himself from Calvin pulling a gun on him, but the Judge didn't see it that way. The Judge ruled for Justin to spend three years in Juvie and Calvin was ruled to spend one year. Jack and May hired a lawyer to fight the case but the judge shut the lawyer down until he could gather enough information to convince her to let Justin go. Which was not going to be easy since Justin had a history of being a delinquent.
