THE NEXT time I saw Seye she was at my desk trying to convince me to go out with her and Danielle.

"I don't want to go," I replied for the umpteenth time.

My fingers flew across the screen as I typed my weekly report. Seye switched off my monitor and I paid all attention to her.

She smiled. "Why not? It's going to be fun."

"I don't want to go anywhere with either of you unless I have someone with me because I can't be the third wheel. I'm not settling for that."

This wasn't the first time she was inviting me out, and my answer was always the same. My gut told me she sensed there was some tension between I and kelvin. I guess this was her way of carrying me along so I'm not alone and bored.

"I could invite Kelvin but I think he's going to be out also," she slid in.

"Out where?" I asked before I could stop myself.

"You don't know?"

"Know what?"

"He has a date with one of Danielle's friends. She's worried he's alone by himself, so she's trying to set him up."

My heart literally broke into pieces as Seye spoke. Seye must have noticed my crestfallen face because she stopped talking and paused.

"Are you okay?"

"Yea. I didn't know Kelvin was interested in going on dates."

"And?"

"That's all. It's surprising." She stared at me and I stood. "I need to use the bathroom. I'll be right back."

I rushed to the bathroom and got a tissue to soak my tears in as I cried. I couldn't believe Kelvin would willingly go on a date with anyone else after his breakup. I had hoped that it was going to be a chance for us to finally be together, we were both not in a relationship, and we'd recently just had sex. That should have meant something to him but it obviously didn't.

The bathroom door opened and I saw Seye come in, she took in my appearance and came to hug me.

"What's happening?"

"I don't know, everything is just a mess." I wept.

"What exactly?"

"Kelvin, why is he going out on dates? I thought he loved me, we had sex again."

"Wait a goddamn minute, what do you mean again?"

I sniffed before answering, "We had sex the night we went to the club."

"How come you didn't tell me?"

"He said we should act like it never happened so I couldn't tell anyone. He was also in a relationship, I didn't want to ruin it."

"And the next time?"

"The time Alex broke up with him and I went to check on him. He was hurting and when he said he needed me, I didn't think twice about it."

"What happened next?"

"He said it shouldn't have happened and that made me mad. He practically begged me for sex then made me feel ashamed for giving in."

"Why would he do that? Have you guys spoken since then?"

I shook my head. "He's been calling but I haven't picked his calls and he never came by my desk to talk."

"He's really an asshole then."

I wanted to come to his defense as I normally did but thought against it. "What if he gets in a new relationship, I don't think I can survive that again."

"If he does, I'll personally kill him."

Seye hugged me when I kept on crying.

"I don't know what to do."

"He's not worth your tears."

"But I love him."

"I'll make him come on the date with us if you'll come. And you guys can sort through your issues."

"Okay, I'll come then." I sniffed.

"Don't cry anymore, please."

"Alright," I said, trying to comport myself.

When I got home to get ready for the date, I was in a better mood. Kelvin was going to be there with Seye so I was certain we were going to sort things out. I wore a biker short with a crop sweat shirt then finished it with a pair of Vans. I stuffed my hair in a baseball hat and strapped on my fanny pack. It was a casual date so I didn't have to over dress.

I got my car keys and drove to the mall. When I got to Ozone, I called Seye before going in. She told me she was on the second floor, at the bowling center and I took the lift to join her. Seye was with Danielle and they had a table to themselves, when she saw me she whispered something to her partner and they both smiled before waving me over. I joined them and we exchanged hugs, Seye pushed a cup of chilled Pepsi towards me before I took a seat.

"Do you feel better?" Seye asked.

"Yes. Where's Kelvin?" I hadn't seen him in days.

"He'll be here soon, let us handle him," she said.

"What do you mean?"

"We have a little plan," Danielle said in response.

"What's it about?" I asked.

"Oh, here he comes. Act normal," Seye whispered.

I smelt Kelvin before I saw him and my heart beat fluttered as I felt butterflies in my stomach. When I stood to hug him and his hand came in contact with my bare back as my sweat shirt rode up, I melted into him. I had missed his nearness and I tore myself reluctantly from his embrace before taking my seat.

"You guys are really a thing," Kelvin said to his sister when she wrapped her arms around Seye.

"We are," Seye replied dragging Danielle closer to her.

"I'm not going to sponsor the wedding," he bantered.

"You know you have no choice," Danielle said before emptying her cup in one sip. "Let's go bowl," she declared and I stood to go with them.

Kelvin pulled my hand. "We'll join you later, I've to speak with Fatimah."

I sat back and watched Seye and Danielle leave before turning my eyes to Kelvin.

"You're not picking my calls," he said.

"Maybe it's because of the way you reacted after we had sex." All I wanted to do was hug him and stay that way forever. I was tired of not being with him.

"I thought you were still dating him."

"I was never dating him."

"Does he know that?"

"He has never hinted at a relationship. He went through a rough patch in his previous one and he's taking a break."

"So he doesn't want you?"

"He doesn't."

"And you don't want him?"

"Not him."

"Who then?" Kelvin asked looking deeply into my eyes, his hand found its way to my lap and I tried to concentrate on a reply as my thigh tingled.

"That was exciting," Danielle busted out, breaking the spell as she returned with Seye.

Kelvin broke eye contact at their disruption, and I sipped my drink.

"So, Seye said you went on a date with Akin. Did anything happen?" Danielle asked.

I felt Kelvin's hand leave my thigh as his body stiffened at the mention of Akin.

"You went on a date with him?" Kelvin asked with poison in his tone.

"She totally did and something did happen," Seye replied for me.

I couldn't understand why they would bring the topic up when I was making up with Kelvin. We were heading towards a good direction and they were going to ruin it.

"Spill the tea, girl." Danielle clapped.

There was no stupid tea and I needed them to shut their mouths. I was growing uncomfortable because all the scenarios I imagined the conversation would end wasn't going to be in my favor.

"She said he spent the night," Seye said, oblivious to my plight.

I could feel Kelvin's gaze burning a hole through me, but I couldn't return his look. I hated being put on the spot and I froze while Seye and Danielle continued.

"Juicy...what happened?"

"The expected according to what Fatimah said. I'm talking hot, spicy sex with a man who looks like sunshine and has an account balance to back it up. Why am I gay?"

She fanned her face with her hand like she was hot. Seye painted a perfect picture with her words and I wanted to strangle her. I realized too late that this was their stupid plan. I should have cut them off when they started because this was making my life more difficult instead of easier. Kelvin was silent by my side as Seye and Danielle giggled. When I finally got the courage to turn around to look at him, he stood up and walked away.

"Kelvin," I managed to whisper as he left.

"Serves him right," Danielle said.

I was coming down with a headache and I didn't know what to do about anything. I put my head in my hands, totally frustrated at the whole situation.

"You guys are the devil. I'm leaving," I said as I stood.

"Don't you dare go after him," Danielle called after me as I walked out.
