Legendary Duelists

(3rd Person PoV)

Judai was staring at the sunset while sitting on the grass.

It's been a long day. A really long day.

He looked back at the Academy and faintly smiled.

He had great memories there and made many friends. Albeit that came with a cost to which Judai frowned at.

The 17 year old sighed to himself.

It might have only been around three years since he came to Duel Academy but they felt long and fulfilling.

"What's with the sentimental feeling, Judai?" A voice asked and Judai turned his head to see a feminine, humanistic person who looked faded.

"I dunno, Yubel. I just feel very nostalgic right now," Judai explained.

He tilted his head. "Are you sure that's it?" She asked.

"Yeah...ok maybe someone had to do with it," Judai awkwardly laughed.

"Let me guess. Asuka right?" Yubel asked.

"Maybe," Judai replied.

"Well with her help alongside that girl named Rei, she was able to help you cope especially with what you have been through," Yubel explained.

"True...," Judai muttered.

He then heard someone call his name. It was Asuka herself.

Judai got up and walked over to her.

"Yo, what's up?" He asked.

"I was wondering if you wanted to duel. Just something for fun," Asuka replied.

"A duel? Sure but where? Right here?" Judai asked.

"We can use the Oblisk Blue arena if you like," Asuka shrugged.

"Alright," Judai nodded.

As they were walking back to the arena, an explosion can be heard and they gave each other looks of concern.

"What was that?" Judai asked.

"I don't know. Maybe it was an accident somewhere but I don't think so...," Asuka trailed off.

"We need to help whoever could be hurt," Judai said.

And carefully, he thought. He didn't want to run risks that could make the situation worse.

Asuka nodded and they both ran in.

Some people were stuck in some rubble and Judai picked aside some of the rubble while Asuka carefully pulled out the people.

"Judai, Asuka!" Two people ran up to them.

"Sho! Kenzan!" Judai exclaimed.

"We heard what happened. Anyone hurt?" Kenzan asked.

"Some just have some scratches and cuts but so far, nothing too serious," Asuka explained.

"What do you think happen?" Sho asked.

"We don't know. We just heard an explosion and ran over here to help anyone who could be hurt," Judai replied.

The four of them stayed quiet for a moment. Mainly to listen to see if anyone else was stuck in the rubble but also to think of what could have happened.

"Uhh guys, do you see that?" Sho suddenly pointed.

"Huh? See wh-whoa!" Judai cried.

A bunch of Duel Monsters were roaming the place, throwing up rubble with their snouts, hands or whatever else they could hold onto.

"How did that happen?" Asuka asked.

"I don't know but we have to defeat them in hopes to make sure that no one else gets hurt," Judai told them.

"You're right! We can't allow anyone to get hurt," Kenzan agreed.

"But how can we defeat them? With our duel monsters?" Sho asked.

"Mew."

Judai felt something furry brush against his leg and he looked down to spot Pharaoh, the cat.

Pharaoh then opened his mouth and a ghost appeared.

"Judai, be careful. Those monsters have been disturbed and are more agitated than usual," he explained.

"Wait really? Thanks for the warning, Daitokuji," Judai said with a nod.

He then turned to Sho.

"I think you're right about our Duel Monsters. We have to defeat these ones in order to keep everyone safe," Judai explained.

"Alright, I trust your judgment," Sho gave him a slow nod.

"Be careful, everyone," Asuka told them and they all nodded.

"Let's do this, Heros!" Judai summoned up his monsters .

"We can do this, Cyber Girls!" Asuka summoned up her monsters.

"We won't lose, Dinos!" Kenzan summoned up his monsters.

"It's time, Vehicroids and Roids!" Sho summoned up his monsters.

One by one, they defeated each agitated Duel Monster.

"Go Elemental Hero Bubbleman!" Judai shouted

A humanoid monster with blue armor and a white cape held up the hose that the glove was connected to and shot bubbles at a small dragon monster.

"You can do this, Cyber Tutu!" Asuka shouted.

A humanoid monster with pink hair, red and bluish grey clothes, a periwinkle tutu and ballet shoes spun around and kicked a humanoid monster with orange hair and wearing a maid outfit.

"You got this, Black Ptera!" Kenzan shouted.

A black pterodactyl swooped in and attacked a humanoid monster wearing white ninja robes.

"Don't give up, Drillroid!" Sho shouted.

A blue and yellow monster with cartoony eyes and drills on its nose and hands, slashed at a brown furry creature wearing an eyepatch and had scars.

They repeated this with different monsters but whenever they defeated a monster, something strange would happen.

They would fizzle out like the monsters were holograms. But way different from the holograms that they're used to.

"Judai, something is up," Yubel told him and he nodded.

"I agree. Hey guys, something fishy is going on," Judai called out to his friends.

"Agreed. Where did these monsters come from and why are they disappearing like holograms?" Kenzan asked.

"We need to figure out the source but for now," Sho summoned up another monster, "we need to defeat the monsters and save whoever is left."

Just as he said this, two screams could be heard.

"Junko! Momo!" Asuka called out. They were her friends in the Obelisk Blue class.

"We have to save them," Judai said.

"You and Asuka can go up ahead. We'll cover you," Kenzan assured them and Sho nodded to show that he agreed with him.

"Right. Let's go," Judai told Asuka but no need to tell her twice because she was already running off.

Judai followed her.

They arrived and one of the girls were trying to lift up some rubble.

"Help! Junko's leg is stuck under there!" She cried when she spotted them.

"Ok. I'll help up the rubble. Asuka, you get Junko out but carefully," Judai instructed.

"Alright," Asuka nodded.

Both Judai and Momo used their strength to lift up the rubble while Asuka helped Junko out.

"Ow ow ow! It hurts," Junko whined.

"I know but don't worry. We'll get someone to see that leg," Asuka assured her.

Secretly, she hoped that the school nurse would do something about her leg that wasn't just giving her ice because Junko's leg was covering in blood and had some rubble bits stuck in it.

Judai and Momo then carefully placed the rubble down.

"Alright, we need to get out of here now. Is there anyone else left?" Judai asked the girls.

Momo shook her head.

"Everyone was already out when the explosion happened. And some people went out of the emergency exit before the rubble blocked it," she explained.

"Ok. Then we leave," Judai said.

Asuka helped Junko up and had her wrap her arm around Asuka's shoulder.

"I'm going to need some help over here," she told them.

"I got you," Judai held up the other arm.

The four of them carefully traversed the building and prayed that they didn't encounter any Duel Monsters.

But they didn't need to worry about that.

"Look out!" Momo screamed and pointed up.

Some Duel Monsters, a silver wolf and a monster with a black pointy tail tossed up a large chunk of rubble and it was coming towards them.

Both Asuka and Judai were busy helping Junko and Momo left her Duel Disk back in her dorm.

The best they could do is move out of the way but the floor that they were on felt so crowded and claustrophobic that they couldn't move out of the way quickly.

"Judai!" Yubel cried. If only she could do something, anything.

But then, something miraculously happened.

As Asuka, Judai, Junko and Momo braced themselves for the impact, the chunk immediately stopped.

Judai looked up and gasped, "Whoa!"

Two spellcaster monsters were holding up the rubble and they looked familiar. Very familiar.

"Is that...Dark Magician and Dark Magician Girl?" Momo asked.

"But that could only mean-?" Asuka started but then someone shouted.

"Hey! Are you alright?"

Then a young man with blond hair appeared.

"Yugi! They're safe," he called out to the voice.

There's no way! Judai thought, shocked.

The young man then turned to them.

"Hurry before the Magicans grow tired," he told them.

They nodded and followed him.

Then Judai heard another voice. A very familiar voice.

"Junk Warrior! Go, Scrap Fist!"

He looked up to see a purple humanoid monster punching the monsters and the person who was commanding the monster.

Is that...wait, Judai thought.

"Judai," Asuka's voice made him snap out of his thoughts.

"Huh? Oh," he proceeded to keep on following the young man.

They met up with Kenzan, Sho and the other young man who is very much familiar to all of them.

"Is that the King of Games, Yugi Muto?" Junko asked.

"And I knew I saw you somewhere. You're the third legendary duelist, Joey Wheeler," Momo pointed.

Joey scratched the back of his head.

"I guess so...wait who's second?" He asked.

"Seto Kaiba," Judai replied.

"Aww Damn it!" Joey shouted.

"Calm down, Joey," Yugi told his friend before turning to the rest of them.

"She needs to go and see a doctor for that leg," he told them, motioning to Junko.

"Yeah, come on," Asuka said.

"Actually can you stay back, Judai," Yugi said.

"Huh? Why?" Judai asked.

"We'll take her to the nurse. Maybe the nurse can do something and if not, we'll have to call a doctor," Kenzan said.

Sho nodded as well.

They took Junko and carefully walked her out with Momo behind her.

"Sooooo...what's going on?" Judai asked.

"Remember Paradox?" Yugi asked.

Judai's eyes widen at this.

"Oh god, he's back?!" He cried.

"Thankfully no but something just as worse," a voice behind them said.

They turned around to see a young man, slightly older than the rest, walking toward them.

"Yusei, what's up and really? What could be worse than Paradox?" Judai asked.

"A group of people who are threatening to destroy the dimensions. Yes, dimensions in plural," Yusei told him.

"Awww crap, really?" Judai asked.

"Judai, what's going on? Who's Paradox?" Asuka asked.

Judai then explained what he, Yugi and Yusei had to deal with.

"So wait, all of that happened? Seriously?" Asuka asked.

"It may seem hard to believe but it's true," Judai said.

He may be right but deep down, Asuka could tell that he was telling the truth. Judai isn't the type of person to lie.

"Ok, I believe you," Asuka told him which surprised Judai.

"Really?" He asked and she nodded.

"We need to go now. I'll explain even more on the way," Yusei told them.

"Wait wait, right now! And go how?" Judai asked.

"My D-Wheeler. It's parked outside when we saw the smoke from the building," Yusei replied.

"Well...," Judai looked over his shoulder.

He would like to do this but wouldn't that mean that his own dimension would also be in trouble if he left?

Joey seemed to notice this and said, "I see that this is a school for dueling. Bunch of competent duelist here. They can protect this timeline while we go on and stop this threat. And you won't be alone if what Yusei says is true."

"Huh? What's true?" Judai asked.

"My team and I are trying to find certain duelists to deal with this threat. In Yugi's timeline, it's him plus Joey came along. In this timeline, it's you and in the next timeline, it's me. But we're not the only duelists. I'll explain even more, sorry for keeping much of the information hidden," Yusei explained.

Judai thought long and hard about this.

He can't just waltz in and expect things to go well. No he needs to be more careful with this. He doesn't want to repeat the same mistakes that he has done when searching for Johan.

"Judai, if the dimensions are really in danger, it may not be that far-fetched to go but remember to not head so recklessly into danger," Yubel told him.

I guess you're right, Judai thought before taking a deep breath.

"Alright, let's go!" He told them.

The three of them nodded and turned to leave.

"Wait Judai, I'm coming with you," Asuka suddenly spoke up.

"Huh? But Asuka...," Judai started.

"I know that this is dangerous but after learning about this Paradox and how this situation is similar, I can't just sit back and watch all of this happen. I just have a feeling that I have to do something. So I'm coming with you but I won't head so reckless into danger. That's what got us mainly into trouble," Asuka explained.

"Asuka...ok. You can come but just...be careful," Judai told her and she nodded.

They followed Yugi, Joey and Yusei outside.

Before they got on the D-Wheeler, Judai and Asuka had to explain the situation to Sho and Kenzan, who while not entirely happy with the situation, understood that it had to be done.

"Just be careful and don't rush into unnecessary danger," Sho told them.

"Don't worry about us, we'll protect this timeline," Kenzan assured them.

"Thank you. I'm being serious when I said that but I couldn't have asked for more better friends," Judai gave them a warm smile.

They waved goodbye and got on the side of Yusei's D-Wheeler which was started to get crowded.

Yusei revved up his D-Wheeler and raced off.

Then suddenly, they all saw a large crimson dragon flying by and holding out a path for Yusei's D-Wheeler to go on.

Judai noticed that Yusei's arm began to glow red as the dragon appeared.

Guess we're going on another adventure, he thought.

A/N: it is done! I thought it would have less words to type in for this chapter but clearly not!

Anyways, hope you enjoyed this chapter!
