[17] The Morning After

I woke up to feel Miles' breath fanning my face. I fluttered my eyes open and my heart warmed up at the sight in front of me. His hair was sprawled out in different directions on the pillow, his lips were parted and he was so  dangerously close to me. When I looked down at myself, I realised he was hugging me close as his arms were around my waist. I lifted my arms up and started tracing his facial features as I brought my fingers upon his soft and deliciously inviting lips. The cut on his lip looked better than it did last night and I was glad. I still felt like he got hurt because of me, and that cut on his lip kept taunting me.

He stirred a bit and tightened his arms around me before going back to being sound sleep. I smiled to myself and brought my arms higher so I could play with his hair. I ran my fingers through his smooth and silky hair and I almost gasped at how good it felt against my fingers.

When I looked up to his lips once again, I was tempted to feel them against mine. And the only way that could happen was if I leaned and kissed him. So that's what I did. I slowly moved my lips against his and after a short while, I felt Miles stir against me before I felt his lips move in sync with mine.

When we pulled back, we had smiles on our faces and we probably looked like idiots but I don't think any of us cared at that point.

"Hmm... that's a nice way to be woken up." He said with a smile, releasing a deep and husky voice. It sounded so good, I almost peed my pants. Oh wait, I wasn't wearing any pants. Lol.

No?

Okay.

"Yeah." I admitted with a small smile playing on my lips, yesterday's events coming back to mind. "It really is."

All of this feels so right. I feel like I'm floating, but it also scares me because what if it's not meant to last? Miles is the first guy I've ever really liked and he's also the only guy I've ever been with. Is it weird that I kind of want him to be my forever? I don't want to have to meet new guys and build a new connection and all that. I'm okay with this. I like this. He's what I want.

But Shelby wants him too and he's practically her boyfriend.

Fuck me. Really.

My face dropped when I realised we probably had to go back to reality soon. The reality that he's with Shelby-not me. While I'm so excited about what's blooming between us, he's probably thinking of me as a sneaky link. The one who he's going to see in the 'dark', without anybody knowing, while Shelby gets the day shift.

Miles seemed to notice my sudden change in demeanor as he leaned in and pecked my parted lips, a frown etched on his forehead. "What's wrong?"

"It actually dawns on me that I have to leave soon, and... I don't want to do that?" I told him, making it sound more like a question.

His face softened as he understood what I meant. His arms tightened more around me and he pulled me closer, engulfing me with warmth as he peppered my neck with kisses. "You don't have to go, sweetheart." He said, "I don't want you to."

"Let's go out, we could spend the day together." He suggested, already seemingly excited by the idea.

"Okay, I'll go take a shower." I told him with a smile and I tried getting out of bed but couldn't even make it close enough to the edge because he was holding me back.

I turned back to look at him.

 "Miles..." I whined.

He bit onto his bottom lip, trying to prevent himself from laughing. "What?" He gave me innocent green eyes and I huffed.

"I thought you said you wanted to go. We can't leave if we're still in bed," I pointed out the obvious.

He smirked mischievously at me. "First tell me in which country you find the city of Istanbul?"

I raised one of my eyebrows at him. "Turkey. Really Miles?"

It took a while before his eyebrows raised in genuine curiosity, "Wait, really?"

He's so adorable.

I laughed at this, "You asked me a question that even you don't know the answer to?"

He shrugged, "Well yes because I didn't expect you to know it either."

I laughed. "I'm actually quite good at Geography, you know?"

He beamed before giving me a small pout feigning disappointment, finally softening his hold around me. "Ugh, you're no fun."

I walked in the direction of the bathroom and I could still feel his eyes on me.

"Ouch!" He said. "Walk it baby, walk it."

I laughed. "Miles!"

He released a cute deep chuckle. "Did I tell you how hot you look in my shirt?" He bit his lower lip seductively.

"No," I shook my head and flipped my hair back before folding my arms in front of my chest.

"Well then baby, come on over here and I'll show you," He said.

"Oh my gosh Miles," I laughed, walking over to the bathroom. "Bye!" I called out before closing the door behind me.

I took off all my clothes and quickly went into the shower. I ran my hands through my hair before going under the water and getting it wet. I used Miles' mint shampoo to wash my hair after washing my body with soap. I then rinsed myself afterwards and stepped out.

"What the—" I started, desperately looking around for a towel.

"Miles!" I yelled. When he didn't respond, I opened the door and perked my head out a bit.

"Miles?"

I heard his footsteps and some shuffling before he came over and looked my way. "Yeah?"

A shiver went through my body at the way he was looking at me. His eyes were slowly trailing over my face and his expression was soft.

"Um, I need a towel."

He left and then came back a couple of seconds later with a white towel in his hands. He held it out to me and looked to the side. I was thankful for the gentleman gesture, it showed how much he respected me.

I took it from him and an unopened toothbrush fell out as I wrapped the towel around my body. "Thank you," I told him as I picked it up and walked over to the basin, and started brushing my teeth after removing the cover and adding toothpaste to the brush.

"Hey, mom." Miles greeted his mom as we entered the dinning room. She leaned in and kissed Miles on the cheek. Her lips tugged up a bit when she saw me but she just raised her eyebrow.

"Uh... Hi, Mrs. Kramer." I greeted, suddenly feeling nervous that I've been in her house for the entire night yet she only finds out in the morning. "I slept over last night because I had no where else to go. And this isn't a normality. I never do this, in fact I hardly go on sleepovers – this is the second person whose house I've ever slept over at. But seriously, I never do this. I mean... I never ever ever do this, please forgive me it won't happen again." I apologised and bit my lower lip.

I looked down at Miles for help (since he had nothing to worry about and just sat down!) but he just gave me a weird look. "Miles..." I whined.

Miles and his mom just broke out into a fit of laughter, causing me to be a confused mess. "I'm sorry, am I missing something?" I questioned.

Miles grabbed my hand and pulled me down so I could sit.

"I really like her," Mrs. Kramer said to her son. "Come over anytime alright?" She said to me, with a large smile on her face.

"I just hope nothing happened." She said, raising her eyebrows suspiciously.

I choked on my spit, remembering that heated make out session we had last night. "Of course, Mrs. Kramer," I said. "Nothing happened."

"Aw babe." Miles whispered into my ear, driving me insane. "Now that hurts my feelings," He pouted. His mom left the dinning room for a while and I quickly leaned in and kissed him. He moaned and urged the kiss to go on as he pulled me closer by tightening his hold on my waist.

"Miles." I protested against his lips but he refused to let go.

I heard his mom's footsteps approaching again and this time, we pulled away for good. I turned to see the scowl on Miles' face while his mom walked in with a tray of waffles. My mouth instantly watered when I looked at all the food in front of me. There were pancakes, waffles, croissants, and other delicious foods in front of us. My favourite breakfast in the world is exactly this delicacy in front of me. I just like sweet things I guess.

"What's your name dear?" Miles' mom asked me.

"Sorry," I held my hand out to her. "I'm Tyler," I said, even though I've seen her before during parents meetings when she was called in for Miles' bad behaviour at school. Her dark brown hair was pulled into a bun and her green eyes looked exactly like Miles' ones. Miles looks exactly like her and I see that that's where his good looks came from. Mrs. Kramer is a really beautiful woman.

She frowned a bit when her eyes met mine. "You can call me Janet," She said. "You remind me of someone," She said after a while of studying me. "Miles used to have a female friend he liked in junior school." She said, raising her brow at him.

"Oh,"  I said, looking at him teasingly, and desperate to change the topic. "So even then he was a softie?"

"Um... I don't see how any of this is amusing." He said with raised brows as he ran his hands through his hair, embarrassed.

Maybe Miles' mom is confused. I was the only friend Miles had in junior school but Miles never liked me. He said so himself, unless he lied to me back then.
