Hi everyone! Before anything, I just wanted to introduce myself. My name is Lina Sanchez and I am a 20-year-old pre-med student from Texas! First of all, I just want to express my deepest gratitude to the Wattpad community and to all the readers out there. I remember when I had first fallen in love with literature and how Wattpad added to that admiration. From there my love for reading just blossomed.

  I was 15 years old when I had endured some of the most difficult times of my life, and during those times my comfort had come from books. At the time I couldn't comprehend how ink on pieces of paper could have just a huge impact on me, but now that I'm older, I understand. These fictional characters weren't just a part of my imagination anymore. They had become my family and my friends. Their home had become my home. Which is exactly why I have finally decided to sit down and write this story. If I'm being honest, I have no idea where the idea came from, all I knew was that I needed to finish it - to see my characters through.

  But enough about me, now it's time to get to the exciting part: the world and characters!

  A few things to note:

   1. This story follows our main heroine, Aedrienn Atalia Renna, an aspiring cardiothoracic surgeon, and our broody, tall, dark-hair, sweetheart (note the sarcasm) Asher Gabriel Eliseo, the best neurosurgeon of his time and CEO of the largest medical enterprise in the world. While there are a lot more characters that we will meet along the way and will play a crucial role to the plot, the story will specifically focus on them and their interactions with the others (description further down below).

  2. Every other chapter will take place in a different time period and setting between the past and the present. The present chapters will usually take place in Boston, Massachusetts while the past events will take place in Seattle, Washington. The past events will refer to when Aedrienn was younger and in her college years, and the present will be her all grown up and starting her career! There will also be multiple pov's. Please note that I have never been to Massachusetts or Seattle. Although I promise one day I'll go, the settings that I speak about would have either come from my imagination or research. So please forgive me if you live in any of these places and I got something wrong about your home. I promise I don't do it on purpose!

  3. Expect some Grey's Anatomy-type action. Because Aedrienn and Asher are both surgeons, this also means that a huge part of the setting and plot will take place in a hospital. Fun fact: I also wish to become a cardiothoracic surgeon lol, but I am NOT yet, so just like I said so in regards to the setting, I also mean this for the medical aspect of the story. I will try my best to implement an accurate representation of a healthcare setting by researching everything I can. I promise that once I'm a surgeon I'll come back and edit this for true authenticity lol. (If you're a pre-med student or an actual medical student please don't come for me haha). Also, please excuse and forgive any grammar mistakes you might see along the way!  

4. At the beginning of some chapters I will post a trigger warning. This story deals with heavy topics like grief, death, suicide, substance abuse, anxiety, depression, sickness, etc. Not every chapter will be like this, but I did want to make people aware that we will see a lot of these things when we dive into Aedrienn's and Asher's pasts and with other characters. There will also include cussing and some smut. In regards to smut, although I enjoy reading it, I don't particularly know how to write it. It's not that I don't want to write it - I would love to! But I rather not put myself through that embarrassment of having to write really bad smut and have you resent my characters for it lol. I wouldn't want to put you through that second-hand embarrassment either! They'll be some really good kissy scenes - I promise - and descriptions, but nothing too explicit!

  5. And finally...the plot. I've always been a sucker for romance stories. They're just my thing. I just love love. But over the years I've realized that love comes in different forms. Love doesn't just limit itself to romance or just happens between a boyfriend and a girlfriend. That's not the case at all. Love is in everything we do and in everything we see. There is love between sisters. Love between best friends. Love between a parent and a child. And this story represents just that. It shows us that love - regardless of how it comes, whether that be the love of a partner or a friend or a father - love is what heals the worst of us. It's what has the power to change us and the world we live in. And you'll also see that friendship plays such a huge role in Aedrienn's and her friend's stories as well, teaching them that it's the families we make for ourselves - not just the ones we are born into - that really matter.

According to the world, Asher Gabriel Eliseo was by far the rudest, arrogant, most stubborn man to have ever existed. And if Asher was being honest, he had to agree with them.

CEO of the largest medical enterprise in the country and being the hotshot neurosurgeon that he was, he had to admit things came a bit too easy for him. He had money, status - everything a man could ever dream of - and yet he hated it. Hated everything he was.

He hadn't always been like this, but after everything he'd endured, he decided he'd never return to that weak state of mind. To that hope that there was something good out there in the world, waiting for him.

So when Aedrienn shows up at one of his hospitals and begins to stir unwanted emotions within him, he doesn't know what to do. All he knows is that his mind is set in the one belief that he'll change for no one and nothing - not even the young, bright-eyed woman who makes him question everything he's ever known.

It's a battle of wills and neither is willing to surrender. Aedrienn because she makes it her mission to befriend the impossible Asher. And Asher because he knows if he lets her in, hearts are bound to break.

It's a risk he's not willing to take, but it's something she's not willing to give up, either.
